    NRC gives us huge drive through the midfield. A number of times he took the ball on his own from the back third to the front third, drawing players with him. Even if he loses the ball a bit this is still better than hoofing it straight down the pitch because it invites the ball straight back onto us. I think a NRC / Petrov combination could work with Petrov given a more attacking role.

    For a start Luke Young, Agbonlahor and Gardner are not in the squad, and Petrov has gone home injured. We have a lot of youngsters who have never played a Premier League match. They were too much for Porto, but I think Juventus would be one step too far for us...

    Well I imagine this will be a match for Gabby, Jimmy, Craig and all our new signings (!) to get to know each other while the reserves are off in Spain playing Europe's finest!
