  1. or they could do a portsmouth by avoiding relegation and then challenging for europe next season attracting players to the club, that we only wish we could see playing for villa! :winkold:
  2. liverpool have finnan and warnock who can play right back, and therefore didnt see neill as valuable enough to pay him high wages. west ham are desperate and therefore value him more. so are we in that position and im sorry but we should have been willing to pay him whatever west ham have. who cares if he wants big money? if we are wanting to move forward we are gonna have to stretch past angels 40,000 a week or whatever. him getting loads of money isnt gonna make him play complacent or with a lazy attitude.hes one of the most committed determined footballers out there! if o'neill didnt want him then we have to accept that. but what i find hard to accept is better players moving to a shitter club all over again
  3. I'd love to be proven wrong but I just don't see it, if you want a thug in the middle of the pitch then yes he is quality. barton is far from being a thug on the pitch.hes committed and determined in his play but not a "thug". he is rarely in the papers for bad challenges or sending offs.and only in his last game he showed his sporting side by asking the ref not to give a yellow to gardner after he challenged him. 5.5 million would be a steal. unfortunately i think he will see villa as a sidestep rather than a forward one
  4. What did the cannibal do after he dumped his girlfriend? Wiped his arse!
  5. looks like these ferguson rumours are hotting up then! if we can get him on the cheap then why not, hardly gonna make us worse. MON just cant seem to get his nose out of scotland though! Other leagues exist you know Mart
  6. also i dunno if its been mentioned but on the official site MON has mentioned he was at the charlton v blackburn game last week. was he simply seeing how charlton are playing under les reed ready for our clash on the 30th of december? or did he think he would kill 2 birds with one stone by looking at neill, bent, young etc. hopefully both!!!
  7. Big Ron gave us some great matches and obvious triumphs. Saunders and atkinson were a joy to behold sometimes. however for entertainment id probably side with gregory. mainly due to the creativity of merson and sheer determination and class of taylor and dion.
  8. i would be very happy if we signed alan smith. granted he wont be the answer to all our weaknesses but he would be very useful to us. as somebody previously mentioned he would be a bully up front which we have craved for a while.just look at the impact sutton has made. the goal smith scored against fulham last season (i think it was) epitomises what he is about. hes an arrogant immature p***k and they always piss off teams aka ronaldo, diouf and drogba.
  9. totally agree with this. ive mentioned a few times on here he would be an excellent purchase. i still believe he would be attainable, class performance from him yesterday.2 assists i believe? as u said a versatile player who always gives 100%.
  10. jags is a player who seems to have always been linked with a move to villa. he would be a good squad player. ive seen him play many times especially when he was at youth level and he has great potential but it would be better to judge him on a whole season in the premiership and not a great goal against middlesborough
  11. Bent can finish.no doubt about it.hes also decent in the air. his goal yesterday was brilliant - first time burial into the bottom corner. i would not want MON to splash 12 million on him but i personally would go as high as 9 or 10 million. he reminds me of dwight yorke when he plays. if MON wanted to raid celtic yet again by getting maloney then fair enough, but im looking forward to the day we are linked with other players and not just those of his old club! sutton and agathe will almost certainly have gone by the end of the season and if maloney and petrov remain then great stuff.
  12. ive always been intrigued as to what type of players MON wants to buy, and have always thought as malc says that he likes to nurture talent and buys those who are not maybe top draw but will fight for the cause. However that is why i was so surprised and thrilled to hear we wanted saviola. For me this proves MON is wanting to move on from the "safe" and "steady" signings of lennon, to players who who can really take us up where we belong.
  13. not a chance in hell will richards end up at villa at the moment, as was said before its not a massive step up for him and yes all th big clubs should be interested.definatley liverpool as much as i hate them being called one of the "big four". sidwell i think needs to prove a bit more, wouldnt want us to pay more than 3 million for him. id love to see bent at villa, and im sure he must be having doubts now curbs has left.
  14. you would be able to get luke young for cheaper than richards who is a very solid player who can get forward also. liam rosenior is a decent youngster also.
  15. i rekon you would have to pay over the odds for him. he is a little bit more established than agbonlahor, but just think how much we would want for gabby in about four months time if he continues to impress. to be honest i cant see man city selling him to us, a big bid from chelsea however.......
  16. When did Ian Wright work with MON? the world cup coverage on bbc 1 i think
  17. i dont think its unrealistic either trying to sign swp. relationships go a long way in football, and no doubt ian wright knows what a great manager and person MON is after working with him. cmon wrighty push your son in the direction of the midlands would ya!
  18. well jermain can kiss goodbye to his england career if he signs for villa with steve "whos aston villa?" mclaren in charge.
  19. i hope signing sutton for the season wont put us off looking to bring in another striker in january
  20. im sorry to dissapoint you nigel but one player who will not be coming to villa is Ibrahimovic. MON slagged him off at the world cup on television saying he is so overrated and proceeded in commentating on footage to prove his point.haha! i agreed with him at the time because he is. i believe trezeguet would offer more however
  21. I actually agree with this - I think trezeguet flatters to deceive. I have rarely been impressed with him in either a Juve or a France shirt - he lacks a bit of aggression for me and seems to drift in and out of games. if u have seen a lot of his games then fair enuf thats a valid opinion.but i for one wud not be disapointed to see david trezeguet at villa. his goal record speaks for itself, hes an intelligent player, whos great with his feet and his head. saying that i wudnt want villa to pay more than £8 mill for him. and lets not forget those players who come with an attitude will not stand a chance in MONs team. if they have one it will soon be wiped out by our manager.
