well, scrap that, I'm staying where I am.

my current company made me an offer to try and keep me, I turned it down and they've come back with another offer and I've accepted it, its not as much as what the new company were offering but as I'd said in my last post, they are a good company and it was purely about the money, I'm pretty happy here and they've done what they can to keep me and if all goes well I'll shortly be picking up an extra 4.5k a year with a 6% annual bonus (or the bonus is usually around 6% anyways)

2nd hand guitar market inflation avoided then.

I was trying to think what I'd include of my lifetime (mid thirties) so far if I were having this conversation when I'm your age. Help me out guys, give me some optimism, we've got something other than 9/11, right? :D

    2012 Olympics?

    Brexit?

  3. My gf just bought a new smart telly. She did have a non smart telly, and paid Virgin lots per month for a recording box as well as the broadband.

With the price rises we worked out it would be cheaper to buy a new smart telly and use that for recording. It's ace. Does all the things you'd expect except one.

You can't record from the EPG.

You know, like every other machine has been able to do since 2010? Go to the guide, soft a show coming up, set it to record. Or record the whole series. Obviously this was her most used feature on the Virgin box.

Nope. This one you have manually input the channel, days, start time and end time. You can then opt to repeat daily, weekly or monthly. I bet it can take **** videoplus codes too.

It's like buying a new laptop to find out it can only communicate by fax.

Guess what Toshiba? It's going back.

    The ruble continues to crash.

10 years ago there were 50 rubles to £1

1 year ago there were 70 rubles to £1

Yesterday it hit 125 to £1

It's a similar story against almost every world currency not just the major ones.

That's despite Russia spending a ridiculous amount of their gold and foreign currencies trying to support it.

I suspect many Russia people are getting ready to flee abroad before the next mobilisation of cannon fodder.

    👍

Also this is during a period when the pound hasn't been exactly a stellar performer.

  5. Inspired by the 'Things you don't get' thread:

Golf can get in the **** bin.

Rich people **** the environment, commandeering acres and acres of space, driving there in their wankpanzers, so they can have their middle class wankathon, without being reminded of their massive **** privilege. Why don't you just piss through council house letterboxes on your way there?

**** golf and the weedkiller it rode in on.

Crazy golf however, is a thing of wonder and joy, and should be celebrated wherever it pops up its funny little head.

    Well I have

    • Reggae  and Dub
    • On-U Sound (Lee Perry appears in both these sections) I have so much it needs to be separate
    • Soundtrack and Electronic soundscape type stuff
    • Jazz
    • Multi artist Compilations that don’t fit into the above categories
    • All the rest
    • All the records I've bought this year AKA the current regular listens
    • 12” Singles are just A-Z
    • 7” Singles are just A-Z (all singles are in sealed boxes not on shelves as I rarely play then right now)
    • CDs are just A-Z but compilations are sort of sectionalised by genre / type at the end

Do you keep them all in a special shed? Asking for a friend.

Seems most likely and because it's happened to other people like Konstantin Kisin and Tide bank. Where the account closure was the same they just closed his account and wouldn't give a reason.

I think the rule changes where banks are required to give 90 days notice and stated reasons for account closure to allow time to appeal are sensible.

I think in a lot of these cases the rules banks are using to close the accounts is under the Politically Exposed Persons. Essentially they require extra scrutiny as they may be bribed etc.

As a bank can't just close your account and say we don't want you as a customer because we disagree with your views. That's illegal for them to do and with the rule changes they can't do that discreetly like it seems they have been doing in some cases.

Re the last sentence: a private bank can, and in this case the private bank was owned by NatWest, so he could bank there, where, quite rightly he can't be refused banking facilities.

It's also a damning indictment of the state of journalism in this country that they're giving this story all the time it wants and nobody is sat there and saying to Farage or any of these words removed 'But that's not true is it?'. They just nod along and wheel in the next empty suit to shake their head and tut and give some noncommittal bullshit about it all being very concerning yes of course.

Quite correct. The 'banking problem' that Farage is describing does not exist. We have a media problem.

It's clear from the dossier they wanted to get rid of him because of his political views. Farage is a word removed. I totally disagree with him on almost everything. He is however not breaking any law and his political views however much you disagree with them should not lead to being refused banking or other services. This is technically corporations using coersion (threat of denial of services is you say things their internal panel disagree with) to control free speech. Where would the end be if corporations can employ surveillance to find people who they disagree with and deny them access to their services?

I suspect debanking is going to be a huge story in the coming weeks.

As per my post above, he wasn't refused banking services. He was refused value added private banking.

The important point in all this, is that is not a story.

The Uxbridge result was disappointing for them but that was definitely down to a local issue and ULEZ. Even so that still saw a 7% swing from Tory to Labour.

Is interesting in light of what @blandywas saying up thread about voters not wanting the truth. With ULEZ the number of people affected will be relatively small (and shrinking), yet a large number vote against it on principle.

been having a few back problems over the past month so went to visit an Osteopath today , before treatment  they start asking all these questions to ascertain t level of discomfort any other areas of pain etc

she then asked me " is there anything you can't do "

so i replied , well I can't play the piano

she then asked if it was because of the sitting on the chair or the movement of my arms when playing

When I then explained that  really I just can't play the piano she looked at me like I was not quite there in the head .... maybe  this is why I work in an office and I'm not on the stage   :(

Oh yeah, I'd have to bite my tongue in that situation.

When I'm in a restaurant and they ask me if I have any allergies, I say "Tories". I can't stop myself.
