General, first time i've posted on this thread... like many others just wanted to thank-you for everything you're doing for our club. If only you'd have seen this place over the last 2-3 years (maybe you did!??!?) then you'd realise what a change you have made. I didn't renew my season ticket at the start of the season, i'm not afraid to admit that i was annoyed, pissed off and lost interest in this great club. You guys came in and i was sceptical so thought i'd hold fire. I've attended odd games here and there and despite things not always going our way, know that the tide is turning. 3 of the lads who had season tickets with me went travelling for a year (leaving depressed about the state of the club...) but even in the messages i get about things there is an optimistic outlook, to the extent that we've decided to renew our season tickets next year, jump on the band wagon after a year out. Thanks again, and up the Villa!! PS: Do you, Martin and Randy walk on water??

I've read the front page article by JC about being able to walk before you can run and i think smith fits the bill as the kind of signing to come in and build upwards from. but it is just a rumour (and not one that i've heard elsewhere)

I remember O'Leary saying he didn't want to sign him and the only reason he ever took him on trial was as a favour to a friend!!! I think that was Grisales, not Ben Haim. nope he had Grisales on trial, but Ben Haim also. DOL decided that the money would be better invested in the likes of the Djemba twins...

i think we've never seen proof he actually did pull out, or, if we being pedantic, that he actually was interested!! Since the alleged withdrawal we've had *actual* comments about there being "opportunities" in relation to a question about AVFC which to me suggests the interest remained. Whether it has intensified or cooled a little following the meeting with Doug remains to be seen. The only reassuring thing in my opinion is the deafening silence comeing from all parties at the moment.

So what exactly is the suggestion here??

Maybe they have a clue that something maybe in the pipeline (like the rothschild development) and again want to claim responsibilty for the news coming out??

?? You sure you don't mean Angel for this role? Granted, he scored a tap in with his head v Bolton but he's renowned for playing alongside with someone with aerial ability, not being the one with aerial prescence himself

I've trusted DOL's judgement all along on this one and the softly-softly approach seemed to reap its rewards when berson made his first starts for the villa. I think we'll see more and more of him as the season come to a conclusion.

I think thats a fair point and would be a decent strikeforce - 30 goals between them, and i don't think Angel and Vassel are to far off. I also agree, Cole WILL prove to be an asset

No real evidence of this I'll take your word for it - Koller looked shit in the Euros These don't come around very often at all, as we all know. these kind of strike forces win you titles, everyone wants one but even the best don't. One season they formed a good parnership, as did the SAS and Yorke and Cole too in all honesty.

But don't most strike forces operate like this? one big scorer, one who chips in with a few?? Henry and Bergkamp Horsevanman and Scholes/Solsjkaaer/Saha Shearer and Bellamy Owen and H.........(but granted, he's shit) Forsell and various scum (see above) Yakubu and LuaLua Angel and Vassell...

Sorry but no. You aint going to get better than him. He's a real asset for us and cannot understand why people get in his back.

I think that Cole will prove to be a great signing. there is simply no point in getting on his back because the deal is done. Lets support him all the way and if he flops, well we don't sign him. I don't know whether its just this site but all my mates think that he is a great signing. Loaning players is what happens now people, if your not in the top 5 (which we nearly were) then you loan players to add to your squad. Nearly every other team has. Now lets be more positive, we are moving forward all the time. Yes we've lost a lot of players and only replaced them with 2 others. these two add quality though, not simply numbers and that is what we have to be interested in now. If you want numbers you follow the SHA method. Now can anyone honestly say that they wish Villa had spent the same amount of money on the same players as them? I can't.

Why do we need to REPLACE anybody? thought we we are in the process of trying to build up a half decent squad?? Can't afford to replace anybody now!! I think our first 11 is as good as most, problems kick in when we have injuries or suspensions

Whilst on the subject of next years derbies, anyone any preferences to home or away first? I'd like to get them at home first this season. Don't know why just really have this thing about playing at home against them before we go to the hell-hole. Goal has to be Angel at wolves. Solano pass, the finish, couldn't quite believe what i was seeing in a Derby!! Hitz in that game aswell. Actually, every goal Hitz has scored. Anyone remember a simple tap in of his??
