  1. I can't see anyone behind us in the league table jumping us. So think we should comfortably finish in the top half. Feel Leeds, West Ham and one of Arsenal or Spurs will slip a little and allow us to aim for a European position.

Wouldn't swap these guys for any other owners in the world.

Love what they are doing, but they will one day reach their investment limit. They are businessmen and not oligarchs or state entities that can just burn money - like the owners of Chelsea, PSG and ManCity. That's why annual progression is really important, otherwise I fear a Randy Lerner type scenario where they come to a conclusion that the gap with the top 4/6 clubs  cannot be bridged.

  3. I was underwhelmed the first few times I saw him, but he has improved leaps and bounds in the last few months. Scary where he will be if he keeps on this trajectory.

  4. From that penalty kick in the FA Youth Cup finals to the pirouette against Liverpool in the FA Cup, there is a confidence and swagger in this kid. I see a bright future for him.

Still waiting for Kesler to really show his quality.

Agree with this. Been watching quite a few U23 and U18 matches and while the skills are there, still seems to need some seasoning before making the step-up to the first team. Wouldn't be comfortable if he was our lone back-up to Cash next season.

I agree. I advocated signing more top championship players for a long time. But I'll admit I thought some of the fees involved were excessive and not value per say.

Boy was a wrong. Deano knows his championship footballer.

Leeds is essentially a side of Championship players

  7. If you look at French Champions Lille -  they have a lot of great young talent but they brought in a 35 year old striker in Yilmaz and a 37 year old Jose Fonte formed a solid defensive partnership. That's why I think we should not be so rigid in terms of recruiting young players. We need to be balanced and compliment our youth core with experience and role players that can come in and do a job.

  8. I know it's cliched to say but I really do trust our management.   We already have a solid base and our recruitment team has proven they can identify players, thus I'm really relaxed about this transfer window.

Last summer I never would have thought RB and GK would be our priority areas.

  9. Good for where we are now. Unless he improves (ala Targett, Konsa) don't feel he is consistent enough - not just game to game, but minute to minute - for a team aspiring to play in European competitions.

  10. If Carney stays with the senior team, Jacob might be best off going out on loan next season as we will have a pretty crowded midfield with Grealish, McGinn, Luiz, Nakamba, Sanson and like one new signing.

Anyone criticising how we manage our youth players isn't paying attention

Indeed. We've brought in an army of staff just for this purpose.

  12. Leicester have done a lot right in the last few seasons. Credit to them and their management. Let's not fawn over their owners however. They run a lucrative duty free monopoly in Thailand - a country that attracts the highest number of foreign tourists in the world. Having and maintaining that monopoly requires quite a lot of back door dealings.

I am happy for their success and it is a massive thorn for the ESL, Project Big Picture scheme.
