Always had the finishing ability, but feel his overall game has really improved in the last 6 months.

So we paid 8M for a Keeper and only signed a 2 year deal with him? Doesn't look like astute business. At least his wages will come off of our books.

If this season we had the Luiz that we saw during project restart we would be challenging for Europe right now. He's been quite mediocre this season.

Just seen a new clip of our future Kings speech.
"I can't think of a cooler place to be vaccinated than Villa Park......... Unless you're a Birmingham City fan"
Get him on the Throne NOW.
Can we modify the club name to Royal Aston Villa?

This is where Smith also needs to rotate players to ensure a healthy squad dynamic. You can't just have Freddy always on the bench and play Cash all 38 matches (bar suspensions). Need to find around 10-12 (25-30%) PL matches for him to play.

Don't really know much about him.
I see that he is 20 years old. Probably a good strategy to have a few older players to help solidify the U23 team. You don't want 11 talented U18's overrun each match and losing their confidence.

It's essentially an arms race between clubs and we needed this just to be competitive. For example, Leicester has an amazing complex that just opened too.

Top half and breaking 50 pts is a tremendous season and improvement once again.
Will be the best PL season we've had since the ONeill days.

WTF has he done to be worth roughly triple what we paid for him?
His value will have gone up but you need to actually look at the players that sell for upwards of 70 million, these are generally world class players.
I like the lad but he is 40-50 currently lets be realistic. It's also about having a buyer. Who is paying 60-70M for him?

Blimey, I need to have a lie down during half time! That was exciting stuff. Villa on fire. No idea how we are 1-1 after that 45 minutes but I guess this is the “Villa way”.
My only slight negative is Douglas Luiz. We need an upgrade in that position this summer.
Nah - Dougie just needs to return to form.

Would be quite annoyed if I were an Everton supporter. Seems as though they just thought they needed to show-up to get 3 points.

With the seditious six and Leicester, that's 7 clubs that on paper will be equal or better than us. Therefore, realistically hard to expect anything more than a Top 10 finish.

This is true but as well as Jack we have Mings and Watkins who are both very marketable too.
The future is bright at the moment.
Grealish on another level. Rappers and gamers already celebrating him.

The accounts are a reality check that there is a massive gap between us and the seditious six and that we are no closer to them than any of the other 14 clubs in the division. My lingering worry is that our owners will one day come to the conclusion, similar to Lerner, that the PL is just a bottomless money sucking pit.

Surely he is good enough for the first team

Kids look like 1970s Brazil. Their passing abilities better than the first team.

Probably a non starter, but as punishment I'd like to see all broadcast revenues (domestic + international) plus all UEFA Champions League and Europa League income earned by English clubs to be distributed evenly amongst all 20 PL clubs. You see this with the American college conferences, where prize money earned by member institutions in NCAA tournaments are split evenly amongst all the colleges belonging to the conference.
Yes, the top clubs will lose a lot of money, but at the same time there will be less of a revenue variable if they fail to qualify for the UCL - which is a major issue for many of them.

Felt like a match in The Championship
The two goals we gave-up were unfortunate. Thought Emi, Targett, El Gazi and Davis were great. Barkley was decent.

I wonder what the reaction would be like if UEFA backtracked on that
The 12 clubs have zero leverage now. Hopefully UEFA do backtrack - especially on the 2 places reserved for the clubs with the highest coefficient ranking.

Incidentally, to give you an idea of how far we have to go, our combined sponsorship and commercial revenues were £23.7m.
Leicester made £29.9m Tottenham's revenues were £151.9m and Man Utd's were £345.1m.
Those last two clubs must be dripping in cash, I bet they're absolutely delighted with things being exactly as they are right now.
Took 15 years of sustained success (i.e. consistent top 6 finishes) for Spurs to get where they are. We still have a long way to go.

We dont have midfielders that can pass the ball.

blimey, even Sheff Utd, Watford, Burnley, Norwich & Brighton have/had more revenue than us!, amazing.
Player sales might account for part of this, but overall revenues in the PL are pretty much the same between all the non "Big 6" clubs.
