Just playing devil's advocate - Rooney gave up his hero status at Everton to be a global superstar at ManUtd. Couldn't a similar argument be made for Grealish?

From what I saw in the first half, Douglas Luiz seems a bit out of synch.  

I like El Ghazi, but watching him today I had similar thoughts to that of @MaVilla. The Academy players seem to have caught-up, if not surpassed him technically. His main  attributes now are his experience and penalty taking ability, not much else.

Buendia is class. Ramsey looked really good. Nakamba also stood out for me.  Not the best half for CC.

I think more and more you are going to find players like Abraham who are too good to sell cheaply to smaller clubs but not good enough for a top 6 sides.  These guys are basically in transfer purgatory.

Who are the U23s training with the first team? Craig Shakespeare said there were 10 of them. From photos and social media I see there (presuming it was first team training):  Young, Barry, Raikhy, Bridge, Wright, Bogarde, Kesler, Revan, Chrisene....Chuck count?

Would have been a statement to sign him. I'm sure he is one of several targets we have for this position and let's not forget that we have our own young stars such as Carney, J.Ramsey, A.Ramsey, etc. in the pipeline.

Looks like another case of someone running down their contract. Guess PL salaries are so much higher than the ones in their local leagues they won't agree to a contract termination unless they are adequately compensated or desperate for first team football.
