  1. Ela villa, I tend to disagree, in actual fact I would say you are are very mistaken asdont want another card. When has MON said he wants a rotational squad, is that for the champions league games. Claus Jensen, maybe on FIFA07 but not in real life me thinks
  2. Agree with all except Davis and Sorenson. Davis was one of our best players last season but doesnt seem to of been given a proper chance this season, when he played it was out on the left. He still has plenty to offer and will be a top player. I think replacing Sorenson is the least of our worrys! There's probably 2 keepers i'd have, Boruc or Jaskalainen. I think Tommy will be replaced, the two keepers you have mentioned are both superior IMO. I think Ben Foster would be a good addition, but think Man U will want to keep him.
  3. I was in the North Stand and could not work out who it was who kissed the pitch, great moment. It was a terrific day, brilliant memories thanks to the current board and a bright future also thanks to the current board. The fans were terrific, lets hope we can continue this next season. Loved the scarf treatment, know it is not possible, but would be great if that could be a regular thing
  4. If we win games and get the odd trophy who gives a monkeys what the crest is. I would like the old Lion Crest, but would not complain at what the owners have done for us in so little a period. I dont want to expect trophies, but a combination of Randy and MON dhould bring us some success in the future IMO
  5. Gabby had a fine start to the season on the right side, but was soon found out and was treading water for a while IMO. Barry has been first class in whatever position he has played. Think he has to get player of the year. As for most improved player, Mr Bouma is numero uno
  6. Maybe not, but you never know. Des Bremner was not the most skillful, but was a great team player. Dont know if you were old enough to remember him crossman, but it is a matter of balancing the team.
  7. I think the partnership of Petrov and Barry is looking promising. Both are good footballers and play the simple pass, but both can defend as well. Look far more of a footballing side when they are there. Give credit to Gardner today for his performance on the right as well, seemed to do really well. Cant wait to Monday now.
  8. There is no reason the two of them cant play up front, quite the opposite in fact. Lets hope we heed the lesson that we do not have to lump it up to Carew all the time, te midfield are good enough to play through there now
  9. Think up front is his true position, could form a potent forward line with Carew getting on the end of his flick ons. I am not so sure about the reason he was played on the right, just hope he now gets chance to continue in the centre with Carew as well.
  10. I disagree, I think the improvement is there in the way we play football compared to a year ago. Yes,, we are worried, but the fact remains that the club is a whole lot better off than at the same stage last season. I started rting Villa in the old third division, think we should get behind the players and manager rather than be quiet
  11. Mellberg was only playing at right back because there was no one else to play there, not because we wanted this defensive unit. I agree with the earlier comment in that last season we would have lost alot of the games we have drawn this season. I think MON is on the right tracks and would urge fans to give him time. Unfortunately, that does not happen with Villa fans
  12. Spoke to Ron Saunders on a few occasions when the team were training, he was a top man. I agree with you about Tony Barton, was a nice man, but not in the same class of manager IMO. He had a massive act to follow and probably never got the recognition he deserved because it was someone elses team. however, we got through the latter stages with him in charges and won the little cup.
  13. I think he would be suitably unimpressed. There again, he had the balls to play a winger like Tony Morley (know he slagged him off all the time) because it was best for the team. He changed Kenny Swain from a left midfielder on his debut into a right back. Des Bremner was awful in most peoples views after a few games. What I am trying to say is give MON a little time before going against him. We have got decent players on board IMO.
  14. That journo was Gary Newbon, and yes it was inspiring.
  15. Malcolm, have to say I was yellow carded for your comments on something the other week, but you get Ron Saunders dead right. He was the man in charge and no one crossed him. Got to say I think your inclusion of Alex Cropley is inspired and Brian Little was my first hero, see him score in his first full start. Disagree a little about the tactics, cos they rarely changed, he would play the normal formation and in general it did us proud. Maybe you can explain an occasion when we lost before a ball was won because I dont remember that much in that era. I used to go to bodymoor heath to watch them train and he was superb, showing he was the man in charge but a sense of humour as well. On the same point, Peter Withe was immense when he joined. Saw him almost throttle Gary Williams and the next day hugging him as a goal was set up. He was the most important buy in my opinion as had such an influence on the whole team
  16. I have been to Turkey on three occasions and have found the locals to be absolutely fantastic. I dont know whether he said those things and I would doubt Diouff massively, but if he did, dont judge all the Turkish people by him
  17. What a load of tosh! Do you actually go to games and see what Petrov does?
