Only been sacked a manager twice in his career. Impressive stay alone that is for a man with as many clubs as him.

Danks may well have enabled us to get a top level manager today. We will not forget.

The best players make the game look easy. Donk made the game look simple today. Impressed.

Can’t wait for the media tomorrow. “Who’s to say that performance wasn’t coming under Gerrard?”.

Do you think he will ever be PL level? I know he is 22 so time is not on his side.
Feels harsh to say considering he’s having a good season, but probably not. I think he’s very much a good championship player in the making though. As you say age isn’t on his side to make it, sadly.

Can confirm first hand, Azaz is a championship level player. That said, Argyle should cruise League one now if Schumacher stays as manager.
would definitely leave Azaz there for this and next season.

So he’s going to cost us £25m again? Rats.

Buendia would absolutely thrive in Amorim's 343.
Must come into the thinking during the selection. Which manager can get more from these more talented players?

We never know what has really happened behind the scenes, but it does sound like Nassef made his mind up last night and did it quite promptly. Usually these things happen the next day.
Also absolutely stunning silence from the players following the dismissal.I would imagine Nassef would have started enquiries before it happened like any good business person would.

Big man not happy. -
According to the Telegraph, some directors left before the end of the game. Telling.

If I hear one person say “he needs time” tomorrow, I may well need locking up.

I feel like I’ve just finished the second plate at a carvery. Should have been finished before now.

My grip with him at the moment is this idea of giving him Fulham and Brentford which it looks like we are. These are must win games and if we are looking at them and going ok let’s see how we go as if they might deliver something different to the forest or Leeds games. Either you have decided he isn’t the man (which I agree with) then let’s just get rid now be decisive with action. Alternatively come out and say he is going to be manager until the end of the season at least and back him completely. I don’t think we or any club should be going on game by game.
I don’t disagree with any of that. I too would like quicker action on Gerrard as, to me at least, it seems inevitable that the end is coming. I guess I don’t see the ‘Purslow must go too’ mentality that I have heard in many places. Bigger picture I think he has credit in the bank.

I’m genuinely not sure what gripe people have with Purslow apart from the Gerrard connection. Overall he’s always come across as a genuine guy who represents us well.
My perception is that we are now a professionally ran outfit, light years away from his predecessors.- 14

Club tweeted videos of him training today. He’s going nowhere before the weekend.

Betfair opening a market for next Villa manager. They stoke the flames and reap the rewards of it.

“If we win our next 28 games we are looking at champions league football. The man needs the opportunity and time.”

Poch would be great for all sorts of reasons, but have to agree that Emery has actually done a great job most places he has been. Arsenal would probably have got where they are going quicker if they stuck with him.

The two games against Southampton and Leeds where we battered them both back to back, and even someone as cynical as me thought he might be turning a corner.
Ah yes the Southampton game was brilliant, and that first half against Leeds was genuinely the best football we’ve played in years. Good shout.

I’m trying to identify a genuine highlight of Gerrard’s reign. I cannot think of one.
The closest is probably the draw with City this season? -

This is the major problem tbh
But I would still take him even if it was for 2 seasons.
We deserve some joy, even if it is short term.
If it goes so well that he is poached, so be it. Means we will be in a far better position and we can recruit someone else of a similar ilk.
