  1. They all carry the can.

O'Neill left - whether or not his hand was forced is open to debate but his leaving left us troubled.

Lerner flunked replacing our manager, pretty much his only big decision to make in 4 years and he utterly **** it up, dithered too long and signed a lemon. He's also firmly closed his wallet in recent times and thats done us no good.

Houllier is just a buffoon. No point wasting the bandwidth on further debate of such a useless manager.

The players haven't pulled their socks up and just got on with it despite the mess over their heads.

I think Lerner carries rather more of the burden than many might like to think however.

    I concur.

  2. Were conceding 2 goals a game on average

It doesnt take a genius to figure out our back 4 are clowns

I thought Houllier was supposed to be intelligent but he cant spot this?

Cant really blame Cuellar for leaving in jan or the summer what an insult to him that he cant even get a place in the side

The reason for our results is CLEARLY due to the centre of midfield. We're playing 5th choice players there AT BEST at the moment - and these players are young, very inexperienced and in the case of Clark, out of position. It's pretty obvious that due to this, teams cut through us too easily which puts the back four under an IMMENSE amount of pressure. No team in the league could cope with what we are coping with, so it's no surprise that we are conceding so many goals.

Whilst the injuries are certainly a factor in the results that is absolutely no excuse for the team out on the pitch not to give 100% effort. At the moment they are not doing this and Houlliers actions on Monday night were merely the tipping point.

Houllier needs results and he needs them fast, starting with the must win game against WBA.

  3. Gerard Houllier admitted he would prefer to lose to Liverpool than any other side after Aston Villa slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Anfield.

Houllier returned to his former club for the first time since leaving in 2004 after six years in charge and received a warm reception from the Kop.

But the Frenchman watched his Villa side surrender meekly as goals from David Ngog, Ryan Babel and Maxi Rodriguez sealed a comfortable Liverpool victory.

Houllier said: “The fans were good. I liked the fact they chanted my name at the end. There was a banner as well. It's good they remember me.

“It's not emotional but I was extremely touched by that.

“I don't like losing 3-0 but I prefer to do it to Liverpool because I like Liverpool.

“Of course the second goal was offside. I could see it from the side of the pitch.

“The first goal affected our morale. We are not the most confident team at the moment and we needed to start playing.

They are some disgraceful quotes from 'our' manager, coupled with the touching of the Liverpool sign in the tunnel in front of the cameras. What are your thoughts on this?

  4. Hi General,

Out of interest did Houllier apply for the Villa job or was he 'head hunted' by the board? I ask simply because he doesn't look like a man that particularly cares what is going on at the club at the moment and looks more like an aging tourist having a look round some of his old favourite haunts.

Even with injuries I still expect the team that goes out onto the pitch to try and win the game. At the moment I fear they are reflecting the current managers lackadaisical air.

    Thanks,

    Dave

p.s. Martin Jol is a free agent I believe.

  5. Well that really was seriously poor. We made a, quite frankly, rubbish Liverpool team look good.

What most worrys me is that we don't look like we have any fire in our bellies. Houllier clearly does not inspire this group of players and infact does not look like he cares much about the whole situation.

The news that the man who should have been our manager back in the summer (Jol) is now a free agent makes me think it could be time to cut our losses with Houllier and get the right man in.

  6. From Champions League challengers to Championship team in 6 months, **** off Houllier and take that clearing in the woods McAlister with you.

He's not even had a transfer window and has got more walking wounded than the red cross at the moment. :| What a ridiculous complete over reaction.

Let's see where we are at the end of the season.

Trouble is Houllier just does not look like he even cares what is going on out there. If he does not have our team fired up for this second half then we will know that he has no interest in being our manager.

  7. Martin Jol has left Ajax.

If theres a time to get rid of houllier its now.

Terrible football this is worse than DOL

    Really? Get Jol in NOW!

    This

Jol is the man we should have pushed the boat out to get back in the summer. Now he will probably end up at Newcastle and we will be stuck with Houllier until next season... lets hope we are still in this league by then!

  8. Well no more talk about injuries - because apart from NRC for Hogg I believe this is our strongest side.

    Freidal

    Young Dunne Collins Warnock

    Albrighton Bannan (NRC) Downing

    Ireland

    Gabby

This year I would put Marc over Ash and Bannan over Petrov

    THIS IS IT

(well the defence is open to question - Cueller and Clark have a shout over Dunne and Collins - but thats the managers choice - not injuries

This is it - I expect ! (especially as they have a weakened side)

    Bannan isn't playing. :?

I would rather have a midfield three of Petrov, NRC and Young over all three of Clark, Hogg and Ireland so i'm afraid I would still say that injuries have weakened us quite substantially.

  9. What's the chance of the game being called off? Surrounding areas are gonna be dreadful.

Reading some of the comments on here we may as well call the game off as the outcome is a foregone conclusion.

There seems to be people saying we will win this and people saying we will lose it, quite typical for a match thread, so not sure what you are trying to say.

I think there is a slight feeling that suggesting anything other than a win against SHA is a form of heresy.

  10. I expect a loss too. We're not in great form, especially away from home. They'll be incredibly up for it and will make it very very tough for us. I'm not saying we can win - and god I hope we do - but I have no reason to think it is likely.

I do wonder what the response will be if we do lose. Will people start to get on Houlliers back? Lets hope we don't find out.
