Your upset about me declining some Brazilian most of us probably never heard of 😂 takes years of understanding the game and this market to gauge certain opinions, i don’t believe or claim to know everything or know it all and can even get it wrong but more often than not in terms of a situation like this that is not the case.

    Absolutely not!

I am annoyed at you dictating to everyone else what we/they should do based on your view.

I don’t give a monkeys what peoples views are on Pedro, but I think they should be able to make them themselves  without forced views or ridicule.

    Thats my opinion of course!

Firstly stop posting any information from football insider ❌

secondly we should not be entertaining links signing a 31 yr old right back who is turning 32 in couple months, the only player we should be signing over the age of 31 is a goalkeeper.

Lastly we should certainly not be paying €65M release fees for any defender when this is the area we need to develop the least.

Thanks for telling everyone what we should and shoudnt be doing.

Hopefully the whole forum is on the same page now! 👍

  4. I know it’s a forum but every thread being plagued by varying (but some repeat) individuals who make sweeping statements about players ability, intent or what Emery or his system will do with them is getting really, really, really boring.

Speculate by all means, but don’t make statements you have absolutely no clue about as if it’s gospel!

  5. The Castore kit was crap last year and worse this year.  Saved myself well over a hundred quid by not buying either of their offerings.

like the badge this year, but the shirt looks like Burnley 🙄

Igor Oyono an U16 at Villarreal is another forward of theirs that is getting big hype and being linked with a move away.

    Was that filmed in 1973?

Don't get me wrong I don't think Brenan Johnson is rubbish, but he isn't a player good enough to play consistently for a team in the top half of the table.

Brentford are shopping at five ways, we are shopping in the bullring!

I think the raw materials are there, but there is a lot of work to do (aka Nico Williams).

in effect it’s our investment in the future

Well, there’s one thing we can agree on.

Look, if Unai actually wants Brennan Johnson, Harvey Barnes or whoever else, and signs them, most of us will endorse and back that because he has gained our trust and faith.

But none of us even know if he is even interested in these players and comment as though he is…

We’re just speculating, theorising and sharing thoughts and opinions. No need to get annoyed or frustrated with each other for having opposing or differing views. Some of us are just explaining why we have the view we do.

Just because you like one player and I or another poster doesn’t or doesn’t rate them as highly, it doesn’t mean we have to hate each other 🤣

You accused me of trying to force my opinion on others, weren’t you at least as guilty of that (if there’s even any truth to that, which there isn’t)?

Ok, let’s leave it be. Apologies for any misunderstanding or offence.

    I just didn’t agree with you  🤣

I am not sure I accused you of anything, I just said that we have a wide forum of thoughts and generally most are looking at the player now as opposed to Emery who is likely looking at what the player will be.

Not trying to fall out with people but just because Barnes has played a certain position for Leicester or Johnson has faults for Forest, that these players couldn’t be much more with some focused tutelage and coaching.

I actually think we are agreeing more than disagreeing! 😁

I didn’t single out our whole fanbase, just commented on sections of it and how they can be a little unambitious or restricted in views - more of an analysis than a criticism. Not necessarily a fault.

There are much worse things that can be identified (something I addressed in an earlier comment).

It’s got nothing to do with agreeing with me, I’ve never forced anyone to do that. It’s an accusation I don’t appreciate frankly.

I can have an opinion or thought without forcing it on anyone or assuming it as fact. I am entitled to it.

Look, if you want an argument you’re wasting your time. It’s completely pointless.

Not being touchy, you said what you said, I don’t appreciate the provocation.

    Let’s just relax. SG’s gone now 🤣

I have no interest in arguments at my age!

I think we agree that the is is a forum full of opinions, but 95% if not more have no clue as to Monchi/Emery plan.  That’s why the get the big bucks and we don’t!

    ?

Who denied or spoke against this?

Of course they’re looking for potential and quality at the same time. No one said they weren’t.

Having a difference of opinion on one player or a certain approach does not either cover or discount these extra points you’ve made.

Why are you assuming we’re even interested in this guy?

Erm… I’ve already stated multiple times that there is no better judge than Unai when it comes to bringing in players and he should get who he wants.

We have zero insight, just opinions and speculation and that’s what this thread is for mainly?

It’s fine to disagree but no need to stretch that to accusing those that do for having a FM or FIFA mentality…

We can have civilised debates rather than getting annoyed at each other…

Read your post again (although my statement is more generalised).  You are singling out our fan base as they don’t agree with you?

You say they will look against your proposed criteria, I am saying they will look wherever they can identify talent and develop it.

You were the one getting touchy! 😁

Exactly, we’re not going to majorly progress as a team unless we bring in a higher calibre of player. We need enhancements and upgrades, not to be wasting money on squad filler or the “same sorts”. Tbh, I’m usually underwhelmed by suggestions from a lot of people in our fan base and it often smacks of a lack of ambition or knowledge.

Said it before, but Unai (and Monchi) have a wealth of knowledge and experience, played against and watched so many players around the globe, they’re not going to restrict themselves to British based and overrated, overpriced players when they can go out and sign some genuine stars and gems… and get value while they’re at it. Monchi knows how to do that…

I think you will find they have identified talent to develop and sell on, irrespective of where that has come from.

I have said this before, too many are fixated on what the player is now, I think Monchi/Emery are looking at what the player could be with the right development and coaching.

It bemuses me people still think they are better placed to judge talent and system above Emery because they played FM 1999 edition! 🙄

I think Brennan Johnson is overrated. He struggles to control the ball and he runs up blind alleys. Morgan Gibbs White is ten times the player.

You can coach that, you cannot coach MGW to do the 100m in 12 seconds.

If you want to know how any elite sports academy works, that is the thought process. Technique can be taught, size and pace cannot

  13. I would take Brennan Johnson, you cannot coach pace, you either have it or not and he is rapid.

I also think that this type of player should be in our sweet spot.  Talent and ability but need someone like Emery to unlock their real potential.

I also believe it is a barometer of what the player really wants.  Emery showed last season he really improves players, therefore should weed out the hungry as opposed to the greedy.

I do though have total faith in Monchi and Emery to do the right thing. First time in decades!

If he is a sub, we're paying him A LOT of money in wages to sit on the bench...  He was on £120k/week at Leicester and I'd imagine we're paying him more to bring him to Villa Park.  Our 5 highest earners are now Kamara, Digne, Coutinho, Tielemans, and Diego Carlos, 4/5 players not in our starting 11.

We could play 56 games next season, rotation will be key. This “subs” stuff is just outdated, everyone will get minutes.

  15. I am not sure why we are going through the annual “hand wringing” ritual.  I trust Emery 100% to get the right players in.

The one thing I do firmly believe, is that some of them we will complain about, forgetting he has already turned round not just one or two underperforming players, but a whole bloody team!

I thoroughly look forward to seeing what this summer brings!

He would smash it for you lot, especially being under a manager who is going to get him confident again

He isn’t really one to take a defender on but he is quite different in that his interplay and ability to find pockets of space to receive a 1-2 is brilliant, just take a look at his goal vs West Ham

Him linking up with someone like Buendia who could play those passes back into him in tight spaces would be brilliant

We have been absolute crap all season, he has been sapped of all his confidence by Brodgers, yet he still managed to bag 13 league goals this season

Would easily get you around 20+ goal contributions next season with European football as well

Sounds like you guys are favourites as he doesn’t want to move too far away from the Midlands

Please give us preference for a loan or 2 back though haha

You need Aaron Ramsey and Archer, do well for you as they did bringing a different dimension to Borough!

I’ve heard many supporters of us and pundits talk about how Liverscum, Chelsea and TheSpuds will be better next season.

Here’s a thought - if our defence has improved and become so drilled after 25 games imagine how much better they’ll be once Don Unai has a full preseason and is able to get the entire squad as fit as he wants them to be?

    We’ll be better too.

Shush, whisper this, let’s sail under the radar as long as possible.  It’s all going to be about Newcastle and Brighton, but we will shoot past them with a bit of clever investment and Unai at the helm
