His headed goals are sensational and he's strong as an OX, terrible defending mind but I reckon he would suit the premier league.
Definitely different to what we have!
My worry would be pace, looks more of a battering ram than a thoroughbred!

I slate people on here for making statements that are opinions, so excuse the hypocrisy when I say there is no way Mbappe is coming to Villa!

'recreate this deadly duo'.
Firstly, Bailey has never been deadly. Secondly, he'll come in and likely replace Bailey in the starting line up. Thirdly, that faithful guy is a complete tit.
He speaks highly of you

Might have been posted before but an interesting read. Long article with some nice insight.
This reads to me as good at finding emergent talent in the £3-15m bracket and selling for profit, less success when spending “big money”.
Also the “sympathetic introduction to the club” could explain a little why Torres is taking so long!

Their season was ruined because they couldn't defend.
That only became an issue once their goals dried up, which coincidentally was when Ramsey got injured!
Losing the play off semi over 2 legs by a single goal doesn’t sound like defensive frailty, sounds like they couldn’t score -

Don't they play in the same position too?
To be fair, not sure what Gordon does, every time I see him play he is woeful

Of course most read with understanding but for those confused, i was referring to Nico Williams being the player we can’t get as Bilbao are a awkward club to get players out of and then the reference showing it’s similar to a record label in the 90’s where artists couldn’t leave… there you go
You keep saying “most read with blah” as if English is second language to me!
Personally I would say, stop speaking in gobbledygook

We will no doubtedly sign a number two keeper as well as a couple forward players, we have 7 weeks left of the window plenty time ABSOLUTELY no reason for panic whatsoever guys
Ramsey injury means we should now be accelerating the Pedro Goncãlves deal and get him through the door quick! £40m plus £6m in add ons and no more than that !
Then we go and get Pino or Felix because one other player is ruled out because that stupid club Bilbao have their players under some Suge Knight death row contract where it appears the players are scared to leave.
Death Row was a record label which had the artist Tupac and other label mates had contracts which meant they basically couldn’t just up and leave or they would pay a heavy price in bodily harm quick run down on that for those confused by the reference …. Having said that Man United lured Ander Herrera away from them.
I have no idea what any of this means or how it applies to a transfer thread

My Archer lowdown has some negatives and positives, or what could be read as negatives, but it's mostly positive and I say I why I think next season is a big opportunity for him.
People are in danger of overrating Archer and putting too much pressure on him, I watched as many of his games as possible whilst he was out on loan, and to be honest in a lot of those other than his goals he was very quiet, if he put those performances in for us there would be people on his case, Aaron Ramsey was far more the standout player, so much so that if it wasn't for his injury I think there's a good chance that Middlesbrough would be in the Premier Leauge now, and it's not just me being biased saying that I've seen Middlesbrough fans say similar, his creativity was a massive miss, but don't see nearly as many people saying Ramsey should be given a chance as I see it being said of Archer.
My point isn't that Archer was bad, in fact overall he was very good, but talk of him being as good or better than Watkins was in in the Championship is way over the top it's not even close, and no shame in that Watkins was probably the best player in Championship in his final season.
Why I think next season is a big opportunity for him
He's a late bloomer from the academy that's earned his chance with the first team, even if he just turns out to be someone who can come off the bench and be a goal threat that still could be a very valuable option, I'm pretty sure he will get his chance this coming season, if he fails to impress he can be loan out to the Champinship in January where he will do his thing and we can get some money next summer, but I think he can do well for us, if we can have a few runs in the cup competitions I wouldn't put it passed him to get double figures.
And one final thing
I think a way in which he's underrated is his ability to run with the ball, he's played most of his football as a winger, or wide forward, so I think that side of his game goes underapprecaited, he's very creative in his own way coming from wide areas, he wouldn't be as good defensively as Jacob, but I think could probably play a similar role, he has done already, just not at Premier League level.
He's earned his chancs, lets see how he does, not expecting miracles, but wouldn't put it past him to do well.
Good post and agree with 99% of it, Ramsey getting injured ruined Boro’s season, they were lacking in invention without him.
For me, I would try to get Archer a loan in the Premier League, Forest would be perfect (rate Steve Cooper), maybe a Luton. I think he will score goals as he has raised his game everywhere he has been so let’s give him a run elsewhere and see how he does.
Best I can say is that Newcastle burnt £40m on Gordon and I wouldn’t swap him for Archer!

Maybe with the money saved on Torres and Tielemans, that Emery sees enough in Johnson that he could really be something. I remember when opposition fans didn’t think much of Grealish initially and every season he pushed on further.
Adding to that, Johnson is a local boy from Nottingham and only just turned 22, there is a lot of growing that can be done there and he has now some PL experience.
Yes we can get value elsewhere but no idea if they’d flop here in this league and maybe our main targets don’t want to come here.
The cost will be massive but if he can do what he’s done at there in a better team with us and coaching from Emery then maybe he’s worth it and the one UK Tax, over payment we do, to get the fit that Emery wants.
I don’t know if I want him especially with the cost but if Emery wants him then let’s do it. I can certainly see the reasoning behind it so I agree with both of you.
The other consideration is personal development, Emery has credit in the bank from where he has taken OK/decent players up one or two levels.
If I am 22/23 and wondering how I make my mark, I would look at Emery as someone who could truly unlock my potential.
I think this is why Ferrari Torres sees us as an option, he knows he is in safe hands

Another that has pace, technical ability and appears to be able to play all across the frontline.
Seems we have a mandate for the type of forwards we are looking for

I really hope that Brennan Johnson is not the player we bring in. He doesn't scream push for Europe quality to me. Would be a disappointing signing if it happens
Said it before, genuine raw pace is an attribute you cannot coach, the rest I think Unai can develop, particularly at that age.
If the price was right, he would give us what we thought we were getting with Baillie, the ability to turn a defence on the counter (ala Leeds counter!)

That’s going to happen regardless and we’ll endorse whatever he does.
But, the point of this thread is to share opinions on transfers and have discussions mate. Some of us could be less aggressive and less argumentative but… we may as well shut it down if we’re not going to discuss any of this.
We could be a lot less reactive and just let everyone have their own say…
It’s worth and affects nothing though
I guess the difference is “I don’t think he is an Emery player” as opposed to “he is not an Emery player”
One is a view, the other a statement or fact.

Barnes is rubbish off the ball. Not an Emery player. What's the point of Monchi if just going to make lazy signings like Barnes. Might as well just hire someone from VT
Why don’t you let Emery decide what are his players?

I think he has tried too hard since day one, needs to take the pressure off himself to “do something” every time he gets the ball.
Hopefully a full preseason will help (all that said, still better than £80m Antony at United)

Blokes a liability, palmed the ball straight to Wilson for his goal then 5 minutes later passes directly to a Newcastle player on edge of 18 yard box.
We cannot go into next year with this guys as a number 2.
