  1. Don't know about Bardsley, he hasn't excelled at Rangers as expected. He is better than Hughes though, much better at passing the ball and being available for link-ups. He has been nurturing from the imfamous Gary Neville Curtis Davies I am all for; he is strong and a good header, and Wenger wanted him before he got Gallas. Not a bad review.... But Randy Lerner; if you know anything about soccer you should buy David Beckham, or at least make an attempt. He would solve the right-side crisis, the low attendance-crisis, the set-pieces and everything. It has been a long while since we had a real hero at Villa Park.
  2. No, not really. That's just the way it is. You play Hughes and Bouma and get 25.000. You play Beckham and Bent, and you get 42500.
  3. I don't want Nigel Reo-Coker. He isn't big enough and he was only good last season.
  4. It will be very interesting to see what Curbs wants with Tevez and Mascherano. I actually feel sorry for the players; they have ruined their careers a fair bit by joining that shitty club.
  5. I have been browsing the WH-forums and it really looks like they don't rate Reo-Coker that highly.......
  6. Heck no I wouldn't want Crouch! He isn't good enough, give the same amount of faith to Sutton and he'd actually do the same job. I'd rather have Sutton than Crouch, hate than tall, ridiculos person. Bent over Ashton. Bent isn't as good in air, but better in every other department. After all, I do not want us to become another Bolton, which MON will make us if we don't get the right players.
  7. Lerner is a business-man. He knows how to accumulate money somehow. This club will NOT go forward unless heavy investments are made in the player department, any he knows this. Our current squad is filled with players not good enough and other suffering from this having to play alongside many of them, Petrov one of them.
  8. Amazing, we are on the up and have millions to spend, yet people rave about average Championship-players. What are your ambitions? Gera, Koumas etc.... players who would never play for Everton and West Ham.
  9. Yeah weird that....... he should be focusing on stopping United. The fear of Rooney/Ronaldo against Hughes/Bouma is making me nervous... Let's hope either is banned, but it's going to be hard since Ronaldo has 0 yellows, Rooney has 2 and Saha 1, according to the Fantasy-site.
  10. Well I have thought about John Carew for a while. He will never get us more than 12 goals in the league, but he might just be great for the other pacy strikers. Unlike Angel he is fast and strong, and can take on defenders with ease. Sure he is not as good a header, but it's not like Angel is scoring for fun anymore. Not that he ever has.
  11. I know, it's insane. But if they end up winning the PL this season how do you measure value? I think Bent will go for the sum of 10M, they want to cross the double-figure etc etc. And Vincenzo Montella? Are you mad, he'd flop faster than Tevez! Has-been Italian who is used to their way of playing and nothing else. Even on the free he would be a terrible buy, and I will personally wire you 1000 pounds if it happens;) I sure wouldn't mind Lucas Neill, Ashely Young and Darren Bent at the Park next season. Let's all just wait n see!
  12. But what is value in 2006? Sure no player are sold for 50 - 100 any longer (well, it could happen with a few), bit it's only years since every newspaper had the "who is the first to be sold for 100M"-competitions all over the place. Sheva - 30M, for a 30 year old, who has failed so far! Where is the value? There is none, but will they regain the title? Sure! Carrick - 18M, for a player I wouldn't have paid more than tops 12M for. Value? To whom? United can carry 18M easily..... Villa must up the prices and up the wages, or else we are doomed. When playing FM2007 you see the differences. Our best player is paid like 30K-a-week or something, whilst United, Arse and not least Chelsea pay around 70-100K for many of their players!
  13. One thing is what people think, which is Arsenal needing players to compete with the best. Another thing is what Wenger sees, which clearly isn't the same. I have always imagined SWP as the ideal person for Arsenal, let's hope he doesn't end up there.
  14. The good thing about SWP is that he will consult with his father before making a move; and Ian Wright would make him think twice, and City isn't the club for him. Going back to a club is always humiliating.
  15. Question: Cleveland Browns are dead last in their series, the AFC North. And I read somewhere before the takeover that Randy assured the fans his first love was wiith the Browns. How is he going to deal with the situation in the States?
  16. Lancs: So what you're basically saying is that rich clubs should't use the money they have available? Should a rich club not buy the expensive player they want, and instead buy a cheaper one who isn't as good just for the sake of it? I think that is just envy talking. United have earned their money, bought players who made them better (hence all the titles) and still they are at the top. But if was to recap United in one way it would have to be the Beckham, Giggs (well... not the same year), Scholes, Butt etc, all the homegrown players very much like our Cahill, Osbourne, Moore and Gabby. Not players who cost 250M all together like Chelsea does. Sure they have invested silly money on players like Veron and Ferdinand (28M?), but what is 28M for a club like United? It's like spending 5M at Villa. People laugh of the Sheva-purchase, but what is 30M to Roman? Around 2M for Doug Ellis, easy as that. If I had 10 million I would buy a Porsche 911 tomorrow, and not a bloody Hyundai Elantra because it's cheaper. Same thing, and people mouth of the guy driving the Porsche as well
  17. Interesting topic. Without looking at the results I would imagine most of us would relish United to take Chelsea's scalp, especially since they went out and got Sheva / Ballack / Cole just like that, using some 50M this summer when they really didn't have to do it. They have few English/British players and they have a manager who speaks with the devil's tongue. I do however rate the Cup as 70 / 30 in favour of Chelsea, due to their great squad. Ronaldo / Saha out - Fletcher / O'Shea in Geremi / Sheva out - Robben / Cole in (point made!)
  18. BENT, because Moore Bent Agbonlahor makes me horny, whilst Defoe Angel Moore isn't quite the same.
  19. John Carew is faaar to inconsistant. He doesn't score enough goals either. BUT; he is better than Juan Pablo Angel
  20. It's round, it probably resembles with 50% of all the other clubs' as well
  21. Hæstad is too small and has no other ability than to tackle and enforce. Braaten COULD be awesome if he moved to a better club where he wanted to learn. When I say lazy I mean he is too good for this league and would be much more hungry playing with players better than him. He is 24, but he would develop trumendously in the Prem. But I am saying this because he would be cheap, not more than 1,5 - 2,5 I think.
  22. One player we would all love is Daniel Braaten from Rosenborg. One problem though, he is rather lazy (even though he probably isn't). He just looks that way. He is a threat for every side and he terrorized Roberto Carlos when RBK met Real last season or the one before that. At the right club, he might just flourish. He is fast as hell and strong like a bull. Winger as well as a forward (short enough?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGbDXIdasrc (another one)
  23. Excellent news. And in matter of months and weeks you have made possible things the former chairman viewed upon as untouchables.
