  1. PLAYERS, MANAGERS & TRANSFERS; TRICKY: 06/04/2000 Christian Ziege commenting on being linked with Liverpool: "I've heard reports that I'm unhappy at Middlesbrough but I've never said anything like that. It's not true that I want to leave to go to Liverpool or anywhere else, I'm happy at Middlesbrough." 29/05/2000 'Boro manager Bryan Robson commenting on Ziege's link with the Anfield club: "We have not had one single phone call from Liverpool about Christian. In any case he is part of our plans for next season. We are building a team around him. Christian tells me he is happy here and he is looking forward to next season. End of story." 26/06/2000 Christian Ziege commenting on being linked with various clubs: "My family are happy here. The papers would have me in for a busy summer but I want the fans to know I'm not looking to move anywhere." 28/06/2000 'Boro manager Bryan Robson again commenting on Ziege's £5m move rumour: "The speculation didn't bother me because I know Christian. He enjoyed his first year here and his family are settled. It just annoys me when people say there is a clause in his contract which states he can leave. There's not one player at this club who's got a clause that lets him out in any shape or form." 24/07/2000 Middlesbrough assistant manager Viv Anderson: "Bryan spoke to Christian for long time and there is no question about a move anywhere, let alone Liverpool. In fact, he's so keen to return here he asked to come back early. It's not the sign of a man who wants to be away." 25/07/2000 'Boro assistant manager Viv Anderson again commenting on the Ziege rumour: "He assured me he knew nothing of the rumours linking him to Liverpool. He is an honest lad and he would have told us had there been any contact. He has assured us that he wants to stay." 11/08/2000 Christian Ziege: "I knew that Liverpool had made an enquiry for me, but I had to keep quiet because Middlesbrough had to give me permission to talk to them. This has now been granted owing to help from my advisors and family and I am happy about that. I don't understand why there was such a delay to this decision. Aswell as Liverpool I also know two other clubs interested in talking to me. I am going to have to make some big decisions over the coming days." 29/08/2000 Christian Ziege moves from Middlesbrough to Liverpool for £5.5m
  2. So people here chill down, me included, probably you as well. Would ease of pressure for MON and Lerner as well.
  3. I think we definately need a big signing before the end of this week. Looks like ourselves, West Ham and Newcastle are after the exact same players, and nobody wants to come. Surely we are in the situation to spend that extra little bit of 'do on the right players since we are in such a shitty position both with squad size and table. Spend a little extra to get Young/SWP(wages) or Bent.
  4. This has been a bad day for rumours and signings...... hmm Hope something is happening behind the curtains
  5. Yeah let's wait and wait and wait, is it your money we are going to drain?
  6. Not all clubs want to sell Mangers want to keep their players Clubs wants players before selling others. Excuses.
  7. Not all clubs need players as much as Villa, Arsenal have said they won't even buy.
  8. I read Ashley Young is the player with most crosses this season (OPTA stats of course). How fast is he?
  9. Sky Sports (planetfootball), Teamtalk (although gossipy at times), Soccernet and a few others are the only ones I trust and read every day. The others are just shite.
  10. We will sign Ronaldo and Rooney, source: Me. About as trustworthy as Soccervoice, Tribalfootball and all those shitty pages filled with ads.
  11. If we were at the level I imagine us being at..... we would sign someone who made McCann the cover, and not the other way around. Lennon is the kind of signing I see Charlton doing right about now, not Aston Villa. We got the millions remember.
  12. I would be very disappointed with Neil Lennon joining us. It would be a step in the wrong direction.
  13. Transfers can go by without the media knowing it, but what is happening now is Villaesque, it's what always happens. Some people, perhaps me included, have the right to react that's all. I am probably sounding very negative right now, but I'm not. Time is left for us to buy 40 new players and sell the rotten lot we got Just kidding though, we have many good players, and many would be even better if people like Bent and Barton came in. Let's talk in 24 days, and let's f*ck Watford over sideways!
  14. Some people on here seem to think that Aston Villa is the only team the press don't care about
  15. We couldn't buy Young and SWP at the same time, they play the same position. Right winger. And you are right, no excuses can or should be made about the January-window. There are very good players available, the one that puts up wins
  16. What short memories are those? Did he not score yet ANOTHER wonder at the weekend? Why don't you go and ask Liverpool fans if they want to see him go, because believe me, in Liverpool, the lad is a LEGEND, and it's easy to see why! As for his Villa days, yeah he missed some chances, what strikers don't? But i remember goals he scored against Bolton and Boro before he left, quality. I'd love Crouchy back. £11m would be ridiculous, but LOL, who gives a flying fu*k!! It ain't your money, the club ain't gonna do anything silly. I back MON 100%!!! Crouch is slow, he can't head (other than being tall he isn't a good header), he can't finish, he doesn't get into positions and he makes you play a certain way. His team will never win anything. Loved in Liverpool you say? They are so far behind in the league is must be sickening for their fans who claim their club is the best in the world.
  17. Bent would be ace, 8/10, 10 being Henry. Defoe would be a 7. Both = 10:)
  18. We want Barton, Bent and Wright-Phillips, now go get them!
  19. Wow that must be the shortest transfer in history!!!!!! Only messin mate, im sure you meant by the end of the week!!! :winkold: David Unsworth anyone?
  20. Seconded! It's like reading for an exam, I always do it the weeks before it happens. Why not start earlier? This seems to be rather common of Aston Villa in recent years!
