  1. We should adopt the Levy approach to a foreign team its 30million, to you Spurs its 40million. We should not sell to Spurs, if we do that we might aswell give up.

Pity we dont have a Levy on our "board". Love him or hate him, he is doing a top job at Spurs.

  2. Same   reasons that the other 'no' voters gave.

The manner (and destination) of his departure. I said at the time I hoped his career would crash and burn, and I feel no different now.

So, if you were in his shoes you would of turned down the chance of increasing your wage and winning something. You would have remained at Villa and watched your career go down the pan?

    Tell me.

Would you stay in your current job if someone offered you 3 times your current wage and to play a part in a much bigger and successful organisation?

Why is it this different for Footballers?

  3. Just throwing it out there - but my Man U supporting friend reckons this is a smoke screen for A Youngs return to villa. I'm smelling utter cack, but there you go.

    How does that work, then?

No disrespect to your mate, but when it comes to Football, Manure fans only spout utter shit.

  4. I think Randy would sanction one big signing. I was under the impression that it's always been about controlling the wage structure and not about having no money for transfers.

I don't like the fact that Sky Sports have this story now though, not that other PL clubs wouldn't be aware of Belhanda without it though I suppose. It does seem like they're trying to get some more PL clubs interested though. If one of the teams who has Europe to offer go in for him then we're screwed I should think. That's probably what his agent is hoping for.

Sky reporting it has no baring on where he goes since premier league clubs will already be aware of him. Im pretty sure his agent would of made a point in doing that already, hence our interest ;)

  5. But Sylla has show

With a whole pre season, he is going to be a beast...

I think the same could be said about a few others, including El Ahmadi whom found the adjustment difficult.

Sylla has been excellent since he made his debut in February, I've got high hopes for him next season.  If he picks up from where he left off then I think he could be a genuine shout for player of the year in 2013/14.

    I agree.

  6. Then who plays the Sylla role? We can't have 2 DLP, we won't get anywhere :P

Really unfair comparison because Sylla has already come in and looked good whereas KEA has done nothing to suggest that he will.

Its all about opinions, but some players find it more difficult in adjusting than others. I think this coming season will be the time to judge KEA.

The main thing that points towards this not happening IMO is that Barry's lack of pace might not suit our counter attacking style. Granted we played decent counter attacking fball with him in the side a few seasons ago, so maybe I'm talking bollocks.

We would play him as a deep or sitting midfielder. It would make us better.

Who would you drop? out of interest

    Bannan :D

Nah, i would go with Westward/Barry/Delph, but thats just my personal opinion.

  8. Barry's also been linked with a £4m move to Spurs as a replacement for Parker. Even if Barry chooses us over Spurs, I really can't see Lambert paying £4m for him.

It was widely reported that his wife was unhappy about leaving Sutton since she and their children were settled. Im pretty sure he would choose us over Spurs. Im also pretty sure that Gareth himself would like finishing his career with us.

    £4m?

Drop in the ocean when you consider what it brings to the squad and team.

  10. Have to laugh reading the stories today.

Firstly it is Spurs - so not a big enough club.

Secondly £20m - add an extra £10m then I imagine we might start talking to the bigger clubs.

Thirdly he might well be happy to stay and even if he isn't we don't need to sell him.

Fourthly it was in the Daily Star!

Won't be losing any sleep over it!

    Precisely this.

Must be a slow week in the world of football "journalism".

  11. 100% serious.

Playing Barry would be a two year stop gap, nothing more.

You play him for two years, he inevitably gets worse while a younger player sits on the bench. We might win an extra game or two but what does that matter in the long run?

Players like Westward would benefit immensely from having Gareth Barry beside him and on the training ground. Young players need a mentor, somebody to learn off and somebody to turn too. Barry is not only a bloody good footballer that would fit into any system but a model professional.

Bringing him back could be a master-stroke and im fully behind it.

  12.

Achilles tendon injuries are pretty nasty, can be 6 months although I think Curtis Davies made a very quick recovery from that once.

Achilles injuries are potentially one of the worst nightmares as they often recur. For this reason I would never, ever sign a player who has had this type of injury.

Hopefully we can now get rid of the Zog in the January window if anybody is daft enough to buy him given this type of injury.

I do feel sorry for Zog but unfortunately time & tide wait for no man & the bigger picture has to be the development of AVFC.

    Get rid?

He's not a human being not a mouldy sandwich.

Yes, but a mouldy sandwich would provide better end product than Nzogbia does in 80% of his games ;)

  13. Has done exceptionally well at RB the few times he played there under McLeish before Hutton arrived (a lot better than Hutton ever did). For me he's Lowton's deputy.

    Agree with this.

Hes a big risk anywhere centrally, and i like the guy so not knocking him by saying that.

  14. BTW I sincerely hope this isn't the final piece of the jigsaw even though he looks a decent prospect. We need a big figure in midfield.

Its about building up competition within the squad. This fella is definitely not the final piece in this summers jigsaw. See Lamberts comments in January and im pretty certain that view will not have altered.

  15. Got to admit that my first impression on first viewing the thread was "who?", but bloody hell, that Video has got me sold on him. His technique looks top drawer, and i challenge anyone on here to try and replicate some of those finishes.

Very much worth a punt, and could be worth a fortune a few years time under Lambert s stewardship.

  16. It probably won't be lack of motivation that will hinder Benteke next season. It will probably be the element of surprise which is now gone and Premiership teams will have figured out a better way of playing him.

If he can overcome that, then we very well could have a 40m player on our hands?

Remember that he is only just developing so if continues to build on his form since january, then other teams have their work cut out....

  17. No way we will be getting this guy. I mean I have heard of him unlike the 5 Lambert have brought in. I reckon this could be the end of our signings already.

Weve only just started. There will be further incomings, but it will be balanced on how much we receive and free up in wages. Lamberts not a fool, he sees what we see.
