  1. Now that it's over, I'm actually relieved we aren't signing Belhanda. Doesn't look like he has his head screwed on right, and it's not just about the rumour regarding his unhappiness at Kiev either.

This guy is quickly becoming to appear as another Stephen Ireland. Maybe we should change his name to Bellender.

  2. 22 Mill is too low

50 mill is to low when you consider what Benteke means to us and any progress we wish to make over the next 12 months. Thats another reason why he wont be going anywhere.

On a side note, i hope we aint looking at season ticket sales before letting him go.......nah, im being silly

  3. I think that we are in a stalemate at the moment, transfer wise.

There will not be any biggish signing until Bentekes contract negotiations have been settled, since any wage agreed may effect Bentekes. Then we cant really let Bent go, because we may be then left with no goalscorer at the club if both are gone.

If both go, then any biggish signing to placate the fans aswell as replace them, will be burdened by clubs knowing we have cash to burn. We really need this contract sorting, because it may be leaving the club in limbo.

  4. Sun has our targets as Remy, Defoe and Adebayor........I just laughed when I read that, lazy journalism at its finest. Have they even been watching the ongoings at Villa over the last year.

Seems they have convinced themselves that Benteke is going to shite fart lane. I would actually laugh if it were not so repetitive and pathetic. Cant believe people actually believe this made up codswallop.

  5. Reading between the lines of everything that has been "leaked out" or reported, i have a feeling we were in for him. We made an offer regarding terms but his demands outstretch ours. The offer remains on the table but in the meantime, weve gone to other targets.

Its not the first time we have took this stance.

You are either in it for the Football which is fine, or to see what you can fleece out of it, in which case you can sod off!

  6.

Benteke won 't like Lamberts statement, clearly he will see this as lack of ambition for the club.

    What statement?

That hes  not interessted in Belhanda

Kendrick mentioned it, not Lambert. Wheres the quotes?

  7. I wonder if he doesn't actually want to sign a year extension on his contract?

Because let's face it, if he doesn't add another year on his contract, there's no point in us giving him a new one. Is it possible he wants a pay-rise without the extension?

Lets face it, he has 3 and bit years left, so no point in extending that if a gentleman's agreement has been arrived at, where he will be allowed to leave if a CL club comes in for him at the end of next term. If one does not, then he simply allows the contract to wind down which forces us in reducing the fee we are willing to receive, so hes not going to sign an extension.

This is purely about rewarding him for the season he had, which we are happy to do and what his agent feels he can wrangle out of us.

His agent seems to have lost his voice at the moment, so im confident Benteke will stay.

  8. Teams that do well can defend well. Lambert still has a lot to prove in this department. We're great going forward, but so poor at the back. If we can tighten up at that back and keep Benteke we could be a real force next season. Is Okore the answer to all our problems defensively? I don't think so. I still think we're gunna struggle at the back next season unfortunately.

I can still see a CB coming in. Also, getting the holding midfielders right will add some protection. Not only was our defence poor last term, but we offered them very little protection in leaving them exposed.

  9. If it was a straight choice between Gareth Barry coming back or signing Joleon Lescott, what would your feelings be then? Who would you prefer?

Mods, please move into speculation if in wrong thread.

  10. Not sure if many agree but the way the gaffer has gone about his business so far, has shown an hunger and a desire we have not seen for a while.  This will be infectious and will run right through the squad, and judging by comments on here and elsewhere, its spreading to the fans aswell.

The future bodes well me thinks B)

  11. another disgrace from Premier League. All founding teams are playing each other in lower leagues and we should have been set up with Everton opening game

I think Arsenal away could set us up for the season confidence wise. We have a decent record down there and since its the first game, things will be equal. Point there followed by a win against Liverpool at home and we are flying. Loose both and its only to be expected, so little harm done.

Im happy with the start. Imagine life on here if we played Hull and Norwich first two games and lost both!

  12. Re Bannan's corners - I blame the rest of the team for the lack of assists from them....

They should know by now, not to stand in front of the goal but to all huddle well beyond the far stick (almost out of the penalty area) to meet the inevitably overhit set-piece.

Or just crouch down on to their knees!

  13.

Julie B's just tweeted that Matt Kendrick has it on good authority that Tulisa is currently undergoing a medical, with a view to sitting on MagicMushroom's face. Fee undisclosed.

I'm not sure she'd pass a medical for that sort of activity.

Im not entirely sure that i would pass a medical for any sort of activity :D

  14.

Same   reasons that the other 'no' voters gave.

The manner (and destination) of his departure. I said at the time I hoped his career would crash and burn, and I feel no different now.

So, if you were in his shoes you would of turned down the chance of increasing your wage and winning something. You would have remained at Villa and watched your career go down the pan?

    Tell me.

Would you stay in your current job if someone offered you 3 times your current wage and to play a part in a much bigger and successful organisation?

Why is it this different for Footballers?

I'm not him. I'm a football fan, driven by emotions.

    HAHA, top answer! B)
