  1. Which is what I think I'm driving at If the use was legiitimised, this would be reduced and surely some of these lives saved.
  2. Not really trying to suggest anything (Trim help me out here) but i't a question raised by a senior police officer which has been rubbished in the popular press without being answered. Ali's "subjective" evidence gives us one viewpoint, but as we are all worldly scientists on here we can't merely accept one persons experience can we now? Is ecstasy harmful to some people and not others? Is clean ecstasy harmful at all? Would a legitimate trade create clean ecstasy and destroy the brewers hold on binge friday? The real question is are we legislating out of ignorance or out of circumstances?
  3. I'm not challenging your opinion - just wondering if you could get hold of such information as there is little in the mainstream. I'm sure you see shit in your working life which colours your view of the subject. But has there been any research - is it a real valid topic?
  4. I'm with rev - I got told to avoid aspirin years ago (not an allegery but a stomach ulcer which my doc blamed on alcohol but which I knew was really down to the stress of moving from lager to bitter) but no doctor has ever told me to avoid ecstasy.
  5. Distorts which facts? More people use asprin, so more people die of it? Ali, you are the Doc - any stats you could call upon? Lots of people use ecstasy. Some die. Lots of people use aspirin some die. Without some real comparative stats, we are forever comparing chalk with cheese.
  6. And the floods are coming again, to wash all the sinners away - Gringo 16:11
  7. Good point. Most - interesting term. If we just abuse stats and divide the US stats by 5 to make them comparable to the UK, that would give roughly 1,500 deaths by aspirin, to 46 deaths by ecstasy. If we are talking about "most" would that mean that some of the 1,500 UK deaths by aspirin are not caused by overdose? And may there be a reasonable amount, ie more than 4% (ie 60 > 46) that could be caused by the users own reaction to aspirin? I ain't taken a tab for years - just stoking the debate.
  8. But with a regulated and monitored production facility is it not likely that those 46 deaths per annum would be reduced to near zero? Regardless of your personal interest in such party poppers, would it not be a move towards reducing fatalities and reducing the hold the druglords have over the party scene?
  9. So most aspirin related deaths are as a result of people abusing drugs, whereas most ecstasy related drugs are as a result of people abusing drugs. Chalk and cheese I wouldn't conclude.
  10. Sorry, couldn't find any eggs to compare - no obvious stats for UK deaths from aspirin related drugs or US stats for ecstasty related drugs. As a stockbroker might say - DYOR
  11. In which case, stick to ecstasy, obviously safer for you.
  12. Police chief defends ‘safe’ Ecstasy Annual number of deaths from aspirin (or aspirin like drugs) in the US :7,600 Number of ecstasy related deaths in the UK: 46 Which is more deadly?
  13. After a few lagers for breakfast, now downing another bottle of red wine.
  14. With an attitude like that you should post more often! Alternatively you could join my "Grammar Police" sect. Indeed it is a rare trait on these boards where people accept that they were wrong and address their mistakes.
  15. Only half as whacky as glenn hoddle then
  16. What I should have said is
  17. You seem to be attempting to ruin the thread - you offer no points of debate, you have no interest in religion other than to denigrate it and there is nowhere he has defended child abuse. Now get of your anti-religious high horse an either make a real point or go ruin another thread.
  18. true I have read bits from each page ... However I find it all rather amusing Someone justifing child abuse by quotes from the bible is always good fun Ian go and join some other thread instead of ruining this one - as BOF said - this is a chance to actually hear the views of someone from the inside - as you have no interest in such things go elsewhere. It would be a mighty shame to get this locked.
  19. That would be a very inaccurate application. Terry - I was responding to the previous post by snowychap referring to the debates on other internet forums. Not an accusation as such.
