  1. Welcome to the 700th page of dislike, discontent, dissatisfaction, depression and defence.

Watch us get done by Liverpool by 2 or 3 goals...even though they are getting beat by all and sundry at the minute!!!

    Hope Im wrong though...

You should have realised by now that we are the best team to play when you have a barren spell re, goals, losses, players, records etc. dont know why but we just always have.

  2. When at it, Ireland and N'Zogbia are more then capable of filling the roles left by Ashley Young/Stuart Downing. The only trouble is we don't have a manager who is capable of bringing the best out in them.

Two wingers being replaced by two non-wingers? N’Zgobia just isn’t a proper winger, despite being played in that position.

I agree, Nzogbia is more of an attacking mid/forawd to me, he's got no delivery! :?

  3. Where's the supply coming from 'Czechlad?' Not getting at you mate just curious to know if you think what we have left would be good enough to make chances for Bent and Giroud?

Albrighton in my opinion is simply not going to make it and with N'Zogbia gone who is going to create enough chances for those two?

Well we just signed that Holman guy, plus I highly doubt we would get rid of Nzogbia without having a replacement, however knowing Villa anything is possible. I'm almost certain we would be losing one of our prized assets to help fund a reshape though. Would be a really nice surprise if we could have some early, QUALITY business done though. The optimistic side of looking at things, however for some reason I just really can't warm to Mcleish, at all. It's almost as if the soul is slowly being purged from the support. SAD but true.

  4. Hard to call some game towards the end eg. Spurs at home, the way they're playing they may be out of the race for 4th by then and it could be an easy 3 points for us, same with Norwich away, they will be firmly on the beach by then, Liverpool away could easily be a point as they are shite, etc etc

"The way they are playing?", they have been playing much better than us, just been on the wrong end of results so I wouldn't put too much thought into that if I were you.

  5. Gabriel Agbonlahor’s loyalty is hurting his career

I admire players that stay at the same club for their entire careers, it’s a dying trend in the game, and in amongst all the money-lust it’s refreshing.

Gabriel Agbonlahor is a good player, definitely one who belongs in the top-6 of the Premier League. Aston Villa are a big club, one whose reputation and size should make them at least top-6 competitive. However, given that it looks increasingly unlikely that Villa are able to offer Agbonlahor the platform his talent should be affording him, how much longer can he afford to stay in the Midlands before his career stagnates?

Agbonlahor is a Villa fan, and again, there’s something really admirable about fan-type loyalty in contemporary players. The problem here, is that the forward’s loyalty to the club is probably going to cost him a chance of an England future. It’s important to clarify this though: it’s not Aston Villa holding Agbonlahor back, it’s Alex McLeish’s management and Randy Lerner’s ownership of the club that is. Villa under Martin O’Neil, the attacking, pacey, ambitious Villa were a perfect fit for him – it’s just the current incarnation that’s stunting his progression.

Clearly, the pace the player has underpins pretty much every aspect of his game – and at twenty-five, there are only a few more years left before that acceleration starts to fade. It’s a classic conundrum for Agbonlahor, it’s loyalty versus ambition.

If McLeish stays as manager, and Lerner progresses with his progression-free directives, could anyone really blame the player for wanting to move. Is Danny Welbeck in the England squad entirely because of his abilities, or is it in part owed to him being a Manchester United player? Is the same not true of Daniel Sturridge? These are the players that Agbonlahor now lags behind, and its horribly unfair, because he hasn’t just cashed in his commitment to Villa and gone to sit on Chelsea’s bench. But that’s football.

    Difficult decisions are approaching…

    Thoughts?

  6. Funny how this thread went from "I reckon Gabbys worth 25M" to "He's not a very good player and we should move him on as he isn't worth the 58k"

All based on a handful of less than impressive performances. Villa fans...fickle? NOOOOOOO. He's shite, get rid immediately, release him on o free, he's losing his pace, his hearts not in it etc.

  7. The failure to get into the CL was criminal given the resources made available

    Ridiculous statement.

Not really, think of all the times we were in a cracking position,

"If Villa win this they will be 4 points clear of 5th" and the like......

Oh dear bottled it again and again, when it was realised the house of straw was not sufficient he left.

If people don't see it then I can't help that, that's not my problem but that's the good thing about history, it's kind of set in stone.

Yeah a bit like when it was us and Arsenal for 4th.. We made our intentions perfectly by signing Heskey and Arsenal went for Arshavin. Now i know he turned out crap but his first season he was pretty good and that move summed up Villa perfectly at the time.

I love the way people assume that we had the funds available to buy an Arseshavin or Bent in that window rather than the cut price Heskey who in fact was still a regular starter in the England side (which DB9 wasn't at the time)?

Sorry can't go with you on that, that signing at that time was a fail of EPIC proportions, we would have even been better off pulling out all the stops to bring in someone good on loan. Or signing a young hot prospect, what the hell was Heskey ever going to do for any sort of challenge of any sort. MON and Randy failed miserably on this, they mega screwed the Champions league bid, completely bottled it! :x

  8. The other reason he's not much of a Youtube hero is that it's the little things that don't make the highlights reels that are his main strengths. The one percenters as we call them in Aussie Rules. These are the reasons why he has been so loved by three successive Australia coaches. He is like the guy who will throw himself on a hand grenade to save his platoon.

I'm gathering he is a Milner-esque type player based on what who knows him are saying, not too flashy, not too many goals, but works hard as hell and is effective, very good person to have in the team. On a free, can't complain.

  9. What's the sudden proliferation of pro-McLeish articles? One decent game doesn't suddenly change all the shit we've had to put up with this season.

Oh but Mantis, we've turned the corner!

    :|

I really don't see how certain fans giving credit where it's due and being happy we got a win, as a result of subs made by the manager is a "sudden proliferation of pro Mcleish" articles. Jesus get a grip, most of us feel the same way but at the end of the day we are Villa fans so we should be able to be happy when positive things happen for once for **** sake. the majority of us still dont want him. However if he keeps getting good results from his decisions and builds on them what excuse can we have then? The point is some ppl have gone so far with there anti Mcleish agenda they have lost sight of what the real bigger picture is here. Which is wanting the best for ASTON VILLA no matter what the circumstance as an ASTON VILLA supporter. :?
