At £3m I'm now warming up again to Lansbury. He's a midfielder, an actual real living and breathing one. It seems he's inconsistent with his quality, but he might actually score goals, play passes and win us games. The concept of that blows my mind, and the idea that we can have that for a measly three million quid makes my tinkle twitch.

If it was just him and nobody else I'd be disappointed. However, Rome wasn't built with one brick, but the first one had to be layed.

    Think you're Bipolar Dave ;-)

Hope you're ankle is on the mend. Give me a buzz if you're going to Spuds on Sunday.

    Jenkinson, Chester, Baker, Amavi

    Lansbury, Jedi, Hourihane

    Kodjia, Hernandez, Brady

Gollini, Elphick, Bacuna, Tish, Adomah, McCormack, Gabby

    So, where is Super Jack?

  3. IMO we have to be careful here as signing too many 'Championship' players gives you a Championship team. I said the exact same thing a few seasons back when PL was signing a lot of lower league players. I get that we are in the Championship and need players that can perform at this level to get us back up but if they aren't good enough for the Prem then we either come straight back down or have a bunch of players that we cant use who are on 3-4 year contracts.

The task at hand for the club is to get in players who are more than competent at this level but also going to be decent prem players when we are promoted in 5 months time.

This guy is legit, got everything right ahead of time in the summer...

If Kodjia does play tomorrow despite reports elsewhere, I guess we will know.

Yeah he was spot on last window. Also saying the Ayew rumour has got legs too

They play a league cup QF at Anfield on Tuesday, hopefully it goes to pens

This is the game changer for me. A huge game for them 4 days before they play us could be the difference in the last 20 mins of the game. Our fitness levels have been very good lately and we finish strong. If they have to play extra time and/or pick up an injury then even better.

With Brighton next after this we really need to win this one, as it's going to be a big ask to go Brighton and get 3 points

Its fine, I will be at both games and wearing my lucky cacks! ;-)

  7. Besides the obviously colossal meaning to us this fixture holds there is also the '6-pointer' aspect to it given the fact that a win for us moves us to within 3 points of them but a loss would leave us 9 points behind them! That is huge IMO

I dreamt that we won this 4-3 with goals from Richards, Amavi, McCormack and Ayew. Then I dreamt I was being chased by a psychic zombie so make of it what you will.

More chance of the zombie thing happening mate, Richards is injured :-D

We have to win and cement that self belief in the players and as someone has already said, let's not take a step forward only to go back a couple.

I think Ross should start as he'll give it even more against his old club, and he looked hungry on Tuesday when he came on.

Loving that the club have taken on board the 'Don't Look Back In Anger' vibe. It was great at Reading to be part of 4,000 fans singing that at the end!

    Villa to win 2-0

    UTV

Agreed. Some people on social media moaning about the manchester city link to oasis but I think its such a 'feel good' song when everyone is singing it together plus it sums up the fact that we need to put the past 5 years behind us and get behind the team.

  10. Unfortunately wont be at this one as I'm off to Spain for a few days to visit Karl Court (a few of you may know him as he used to sort travel to matches and get tickets etc) as hes got a bar out there now ;-)

Hope everyone gets behind the team like we did on Tuesday, even when we conceded and when players made mistakes we kept on singing and dragged them through the match. More of the same please guys! UTV!

Which version of the ongoing Aston Villa themed circus will we see tonight then?

I'm going for the one where we take a first half lead, do sweet fa for the next 60 minutes and concede at least one late goal resulting in either a draw or a defeat.

If there is another version to choose from then its news to me!
