"An asylum seeker is a person who has left their country and is seeking protection from persecution and serious human rights violations in another country, but who hasn't yet been legally recognized as a refugee and is waiting to receive a decision on their asylum claim. Seeking asylum is a human right".
I know what a asylum seeker is, I just don't know why people put them all in the same category as oppressed individuals seeking a new life in Britain. It's not fact, an it's not true!
You put them in the same category as people who have no interest in going through the system and disappear into the country to live off crime. The people who want to avoid the system and live off crime are illegal immigrants. By your own definition an asylum seeker is awaiting a decision and are therefore inside the system. They cannot be both inside the system and avoiding it. That you are conflating the two suggests you are either unable to tell the difference or are deliberately using inflammatory and inaccurate language to strengthen your argument.

Cause you have all the facts I'm sure!
You have avoided talking about a huge percentage of asylum seekers who have no interest in going through the system and just disappear into the country somewhere, these are mostly the ones who live off crime, they come here for it. It's known around most of eastern Europe the UK are known to be easy pickings, due to our lifestyle and laws, you need to know some and speak to them to get facts.
In the end its a complex topic, I'm sure we share that fact. There are no real factual answers what they are 'all' coming here for. But if you think it's all to make a new life for there families, learn the language, get a 9-5 and intergrate into UK communities, you are far more naive than your posts suggest.
All this post does is demonstrate that you have no idea of what an asylum seeker is.

The longer it goes on, the more I wonder if there ever was a mask in the first place. Maybe we just presumed there must have been because….well it was easier to think that people didn’t think and behave in such an ignorant and obnoxious way.
There has been some research into this. The conclusion is not entirely surprising.
QuoteThe internet doesn’t turn people into assholes so much as it acts as a massive megaphone for existing ones, according to work by researchers at Aarhus University.

What is the name of that book ? Im into WW II and would like to read it.
It's called Target Tirpitz by Patrick Bishop. It's a right good read too, hope you enjoy it

There is a cracking book, The Sinking of the Tirpitz that details all the different missions that went into sinking the German flagship during the second world war. One of the more ambitious ones did involve these tiny 1 or 2 man submarines.

Guys, sliders have changed the game entirely for me.
I was super frustrated with the defence, but with some tweaks it is 1000% better.
I'd gone with online slider settings on a previous version, and it tweaked the game slightly for the better. Sliders in 23 just completely revolutionise the game.
Sounds interesting, can you give a little more detail on your settings?

It’s weird you automatically equate nationalism to racism.
Are the SNP racists then? Is anyone who watches the England football team a racist, because they’re taking pride in their nation? The Venn diagram of extreme nationalists and racists overlaps pretty heavily, but nationalism itself isn’t inherently bad.
Dictionary definition of nationalism :
Identification with one's own nation and support for its interests, especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations.
To my mind that is inherently bad.

Brexit still the massive elephant in the room, and always will be.
Stunning isn't it.
"We want a high growth economy."
"But Brexit knocked 4% off GDP and is the biggest single impediment to growth."
"Not that sort of growth."
Not that growth is even the answer. You can't grow forever on a finite planet. It is the elephant in the room that the Brexit elephant is standing on.

This is a poor game even by championship standards.

So they did break the budget cap. And are acting surprised about it.
When the championship winning team are the only team to spend over the cap, doesn't it make a complete mockery of it all?
An utter sham of a title last year.
And this year. An overspend will help in the development of the existing car too.

Is it me, or have they just changed something? For some reason it feels more like 22 now. Faster all of a sudden. It may be me, but they just did some 'live tuning' or something.
Something does feel like it has changed. I'm winning every game easily now by a long way. The team are more nimble and I have not conceded a goal in 3 games.

I do know that dynamic potential is broken. Youth players get massive downgrades between seasons. Apparently a known bug so no doubt it will be with us for months.
Youth squad is now pointless.
One example among many, my potential to be special striker who played every game he was fit for and averaged around 8/10 went down to has potential between seasons.

I like 23 generally, but I'm conceding goals in career mode like crazy playing in League 2.
Dunno if it's the new default isometric view, which I might have to change, but I'm loathed to cos I like the way it looks, otherwise.
I found that it was in part to the keepers at this level basically being broken. They don't stop anything. I put the slider up to 60 which mitigates the worst of that. The only other thing to do is pack the defence, which is not a very satisfying way of playing, and even then I still concede 3 or more fairly regularly.

I've either stumbled on the settings/sliders sweet spot early or am just having some dumb luck, because the gameplay thus far has been the only thing I've felt was a tangible improvement. Specifically the defending, funnily enough! Slide tackles are actually back as a viable option and the jostling for possession feels weightier. I've had maybe two goals conceded where the AI has waltzed through unchallenged whilst I was getting my bearings but no more than that so far. I've historically found that setting the controls to Legacy Defending and having your AI-controlled defender press the carrier whilst using the defender you have manual control over to guard the space behind effectively mitigates the more egregious elements of the AI gameplay and scripting.
Career Mode's promised "improvements" however are a dumpster fire. An absolute **** dumpster fire.
I have also enjoyed that sliding tackles are a thing now. It also means I am picking up a more realistic amount of red and yellow cards. I don't think I ever had a player suspended in 22 for accumulation of yellows, and I have in 23.
I have managed to stem the number of goals I am conceding a little, but it is by playing a back 5 and a DM. I also used sliders to make my keeper less shit. However my first full season (in the second division on world class) resulted in close to 250 goals(ish) total for and against. That is a record for me. I hope it will improve as I get better players.

I think the Tories are literally betting everything with the mini budget to stave off recession this year in the hope that the rest of the world recovers more quickly than us so we can ride their coat tails.
But the mini budget won't / can't work. It's like betting that you can stem the bleeding of a bullet wound by stabbing yourself. Everything they do makes us bleed out faster. The best thing they can do to save the country is call a GE and get out of the way.

Just more Brexit created bureaucracy. My business is GDPR compliant world wide (because EU law is the standard). We will continue to use GDPR. The Tories can have whatever extra red tape it wants, international tech companies will just ignore it (or stop selling into the UK if pushed). Good luck trying to enforce the latest "its like the EU but worse and more complex" rules the tories are throwing at the wall.
Agreed. The only real impact I see is a reduction of hosting any data in the UK. It is an insensitive not to work here. If you are an international company it is a big insensitive not to be based here. UK data will have to be separated from the rest of the EU and treated differently. This is just effort and therefore cost. It just further isolates us from the rest of the world. The idea is dumb, but from the world of Brexit it is what I have come to expect.

Omg the defending AI is so stupid, the worst it has ever been. I'm watching as my defence with 6 men in my own box manage to leave 2 attackers unmarked. Switching defenders does me no good as they are all so out of position I can't get anywhere near them. I just watched a goal back where my defenders formed a 4 man semicircle around a single striker, not a single one got close, not a single one got between striker and the goal and none of them tried to cut out the pass. The striker just stood there until the pass came in then boom, another goal in a 6-2 loss. Gameplay is shite.

To flip this around a little bit how is it possible to legally apply for asylum in the UK?
Our rules are that you have to be physically in the UK to apply. There is no such thing as an asylum visa. You could in theory travel on a tourist visa, but you would probably have to lie on that application which would break the law. All this makes it virtually impossible to apply for asylum in the UK legally.
This forces people into those boats that we all want to stop and into the hands of the criminal gangs that we don't want operating. Our own policies are self defeating and stupid, designed for rhetoric rather than practical application.
The answer is if course to provide a safe and legal way of allowing genuine asylum seekers to apply before reaching our borders. Having created a safe and simple route for genuine refugees we can then treat people crossing illegally as criminals and it won't be so difficult to distinguish between refugees and criminals.
Sadly our government don't wish for us to be able to distinguish between criminals and refugees because it suits them to have people ignorant, angry and scared of the other. Braverman uses language that is indistinguishable from the National Front. When we hear that language from the centre of our government alarm bells should be ringing.
