  1. General, just seen that Birmingham City have released a rather pathetic 'We beat the Villa' DVD showing a few of their wins over us.

Can you assure me that regardless of how many times we beat them, even if we do the double on them this season and relegate them that we won't release a DVD about beating them please?? It's very small time and they really don't mean that much.

Some people may want to buy such a dvd especially those of us who refuse to record the matches live because we don't want to jinx it.

  2. General, I thought that I would let you know that I had a balti pie before yesterdays games from the Kiosk next to Ramseys in the Holte and I have really been struggling in the toilet department since about 8:30 last night. My friend who also bought one is struggling a little less from his but I thought I would give you a heads up on it incase there have been more cases.

  3. General Krulak here:

    1. Nice win today. I recognize that some may question whether it was "pretty" or not...but for me, it was one we needed to win and did. 3 games in a very short time...with 7 points coming out of them. I am proud of the lads. We still have a LONG way to go but I like the "never say die" attitude of our Team and appreciate the work they put in on the Pitch. Once again, the fans were superb. :notworthy:

As Ian Holloway once said General, she wasn't the prettiest girl at the party but at least we got her in the back of the taxi. Take us to... Europe please driver!

  4. Im shocked too, I would never do it because I know that I wouldn't be able to enjoy the money. I know a few people that are millionaires and to be honest they aren't any happier than the rest of us in fact a couple are quite sad eg ones son got heavily involved in drugs while running his dads nightclub and was dead by 35.

This sort of thing makes me think though, eg whien I was on holiday in India a couple of years ago I went shopping with my dad to some exclusive watch shops where you could get Rados, Rolexs and Omegas, my dad must have had a bag full of cash that is literally more money than some indians would earn in their entire life. Would they kill you for it? A poll like this tells me that they would if they knew what was in the bag.

  5. We have gone forward no doubt about it, we have gotten a few good players in Young, Carson (loan) and Carew. We have also gotten a few mediocre ones in Reo-Coker and Petrov. We have had many poor ones such as Harewood, Knight, Bardsley, Agathe, Sutton, Maloney and such players (regardless). Remember, we have in a position where we have to catch up, with many years. No doubt we are going forward, but it's going slow. In honest opinion, MON could have done much better in the transfer market, both in terms of quality and the amount of players.

Maloney is probably the king of the Holte End at the moment and is not because he is a poor player. Sutton was excellent while he was here, our best striker. I agree the boss could have done better in the market but there isn't a single manager that couldn't do better in the transfer market.

  6. Regarding our transfers under MON and after Lerner took over I would say pretty much everyone is feeling a bit down about it.

Apart from those that I talk to that go to the games that is.

Yes its strange that one isn't it. I've been to every home home game and a couple of away games and I've yet to hear anyone say that they are downbeat about Mons signings.

Do you speak to every single person in the ground?

Don't be ridiculous Ali, its just that there seems to be an awful lot more whining on here than what I see at games. Maybe its different in other stands to the Holte, I don't know.

  7. General

i know this is probably the least inportant item on the 'to-do list' at the moment with more concerning issues closer to hand, but is there any plans in the future to change/re-name the witton lane stand? still calling it 'the doug ellis stand' has a small feeling of holding onto the awful past and the man that caused us to suffer!

    cheerz ta very mooch!

The General has said about 1000 times that there aren't any plans to change the name. Our owner is a bit to classy to point score over the previous chairman.

  8. General ,

Our little lot have hired out the top floor of the Holte Pub for the Blues game there will be 120 of us private party we would like to extend a welcome to join us . I will even pay for your breakfast :winkold:

On another point great to see so many of our ex players at the game Saturday 17 in total can't help though thinking that we should give the guests some information beforehand of who some of them are . I have been a Villa fan and going down for 40 years but the likes of Mark Burke and Bryan Small are not known to quite a few era of fans and its embarrassing when they don't know who they are or worse end up asking the likes of me with the usual ' who was that then ? '

Was in the ' directors box for the latest iniative directors experience ' good to meet Mr Lerner very interested to hear him talk about Villa Park and how he would never move from it and the plans for the stadium . We are definately in the right hands .

Most of us have been trying for years to erase the memory of Bryan Small having played for us! What an upstanding individual.

  9. General while all of us are hurting tonight and have mixed emotions, may I say that tonights game was one of the great games and Villa played their part. Scoring 4 away from home is rare and I suspect that it won't happen more than 20 times this season although it happened twice this week.

It was one of my heroes Jimmy Greaves that used to say, 'football, its a funny old game'.

Every dog has his day and in the 60s we were 5-1 down against Spurs with 25 minutes to go and drew 5-5., Jimy Greaves was in the Spurs team that day, maybe thats where he got the saying from!

Either way its 1 more point than we had there last season and our fans were fantastic as usual, people will say that we let a 3 goal lead slip but they forget how hard the oppostion were trying on what was their big day, as big as ours on 6/5/07.
