You know you could probably use this for the basis of an economics of sports economic article.

Trevor 'Dai Fungus' Hockey
He died after playing a charity five a side in 1987, he was 43.
-
I've just realised that where there are ties you've arranged them chronologically.
It's the little details
Some inaccuracies though. Sorry to piss on your chips but Kenny Swain didn't leave Villa in 1980.
-
Thank you Brian, there's an awful lot of work in that list.
How on earth does a player get a nickname like "Dai Fungus"?
Ridgewell scored more than Crouch.
Well Trevor Hockey was Welsh and had a big horrible beard like uncle Albert, if that ain't why then I haven't got a clue.

Shaun 'Ceefax' Teale?

Here i am.
When you next touring with the rest of the boys from McFly?

Ah yes, but Jas's claim was:
"Sunderland were the last team to win the league in striped shirts in 1936".
Which is indisputably true, as no other team won the league in striped shirts in 1936.
I was weighting for someone to bring up how it was incoreect grammatickally.
Of course you didn't do that on purpose!
No but I noticed once I viewed my message after I had posted it but I was too busy to bother changing it.
Didn't you notice my other mistakes on the latter post?

General, I hope that with every underhand comment that Liverpool or their players make that our resolve to keep our captain away from them gets even stronger. My own view now is that if Gareth does decide that he wants to leave the club that we sell to anyone else in the 'top 4' but them.

Got happy memories of eating cold chicken from Spar on Friday nights out in Brum, it was a bit of a superstition. Mum prefers Asda at Windmill Lane, Cape Hill. Woop!

Here's a good one.
If you wear special glasses with inverted lenses to make everytihng appear upside down, after a period of time, your eyes will automatically switch, so that things seem normal.
If you then take the glasses off, everything is upside down and will take another length of time for your eyes to revert to their original view.
Try it, it really doea work, but not advisable in the workplace as it's pretty dangerous. You may also look like a total bell end !
Funnily enough, when a child is born their eyesight is upside down.

Had a text message from a big Villa fan mate of mine who has been down to VP with me this season. Anyway, he saw Sidwell in Revolution Bar in London earlier on tonight and asked him if he was coming to Villa, Sidwell said that he might and he is coming for talks next week.

General Krulak here:
1. The new shirt sponsor will be officially announced on the 3rd of June. As soon as it is announced, I will give background info on the decision.
2. We will be working on the official site this summer...we still do not have it where we want it to be. I am a great fan of our Reserve and Youth Teams so I agree we need to do something there.
3. Good question re. age of our fans. I do not know if we have such stats but Nicky reads this site so she will get me the answer if we have it.
4. It is interesting to me where we show up in Nike adverts and stores. I was at Heathrow and we were not in the store there...I called John Greenfield about it. At the same time, I went to the Nike store in Philadelphia and there was a Villa shirt. Amazing. Obviously, we have work to do.
I can confirm that there is an Aston Villa section in NikeTown on Oxford Street in London.

Just read this on Keep shite on about singing sections:
Lord Knobhead: Instead of a singing area lets have a minging area where all the ugly birds and geeks can go?
Fingles: I wish we could turn into AV.
They have a brilliant ground, which they fill every week.Their Board raise funds and do not make press statements. The ticket prices are reasonable and they play great football.
Ha ha ha! I think their away kit next should be green with envy.

General do you think we should call ourselves
Aston Villa
The beautiful name in the beautiful game

It is better for the club to get as many people down to Villa Park over the season as possible, this will ensure that we keep most of our fans who can't or won't come to every game interested in the club and feeling a part of it and not left out in the cold. Eg. I expect your friends who want season tickets attended around 7 games last year, if we have 35000 season ticket holders, it is highly unlikely they would be able to go to all of the games that they wanted to.
Plus of course there will be ticketing restrictions when we embark on our stadium development - Tell me if that isn't the Club's thinking General. We need to remain accessible to all of our fans and not be a closed shop.

I voted for Manchester United. The game was very good and I enjoyed it very much.
I also must add that I feel for John Terry. It is tragic that he was so close to give Chelsea the trophy but failed because he slipped in the moment he kicked the ball. Unbelievable bad luck and this will follow him the rest of his life...so I really do feel for him despite being happy Chelsea missed out.
Hardly a tragedy, if it was then Kevin Richardson would have been suicidal! 5 penalties in his career and he missed all of them!
-
It remains at just 4 of us in that elite band! Nice to see Ronaldo and Terry miss as well, Ashley would have been another one that I would have liked to have missed but you can't have it all!
-
So who to make a clearing in the woods of themselves in penalties? Ronaldo or Terry or someone else?
-
this pitch is ruining the game
I think that is a load of nonsense, half the players going down are doing it to get a fee kick and con the ref.
-
Anyone but Chelsea will do me. Lets keep it at 4 English teams to have won it.
Clive Tylsley is a prize cock isn't he? Blatantly biased towards Man Ure.
-
The Clash for me all day long, although I think Copeland is a great musician, for the intro to 'the Equilizer' alone which is up there with the great TV theme tunes...like Magnum PI!

In memory of that I would like to see where our sympathies lie with regard to Glasgow. Personally what rangers did to Villa Park back in the 70's will not be forgotten or forgiven. Plus I'm a taig now living in Dublin.
For someone who doesn't know what happened could you shead some light on the subject?
(Neither for me by the way)
We played a friendly with Rangers in the mid to late 70s at Villa Park during the international weekend in November (IIRC). Expecting it to be a low key friendly, no one was ready for what happened, 15000+ Rangers fans turned up with drunks running wild in the city centre and then taking the Holte End before the game. They invaded the pitch after someone ran on the pitch with an Irish tricolour. The match was abandoned.
I wasn't born then but thats what I recall from reading 'Children of the Revolution', the best book that I have read about Villa.

They haven't asked because its a bloody stupid thing to say in the thread.
Hopefully General this will make a real difference to all those that use the facilities available at Acorns. Well done to our board on a bold move.
