He has been Englands best player in many games...not only those four. If you have a look at what he has done both for England and for Bayern Munich you can easily say he has quality.

I think that Alex Ferguson is a better man to judge him...and he clearly thinks he is worth £20m...and he has been hunting him as eagerly as he was hunting van Nistelrooy. When Ferguson sees class...he needs to buy him..whatever the price. I think that many managers would say that he is worth somewhere close to that figure...and I agree.

I agree he has been good for England in other games but it was the WC that made him flavour of the month in the same way it made Lampard the great let down. Before the World Cup there were groans when Hargreaves was going to get picked, not sure how many people remember that now though to be honest.

I think Fergie is doing the honourable thing and signing him after he heavily pursued him last season, was he tapped? I think we all know the answer to that one.

A usually reliable Spurs ITK has just said that Villa have offered 8m for Defoe. I presume this an opening offer.

My own opinion on this - and it's just an opinion, not information - is that Spurs won't sell Defoe unless and until Bent is signed, and then will want significantly more than 8m (assuming that Spurs decide to sell at all and that Defoe would be willing to move).

Anyhow, for me it confirms one thing: Villa are definitely interested in Defoe.

Bellamy is not worth £10m...never! I dont want him at Villa and if he comes I hope that MON doesnt pay more than £5-6m tops!

Hargreaves...well...he was without any doubt Englands best player in the World Cup. He is worth £20m easy because he is a proven quality player and his skills is there for everyone to see. He is class...I wish we had him really because he works harder than the most in midfield and he has a very good vision of play. I enjoyed watching him in WC!

You can feel that it is crazy money to spend but if you want to win trophies Hargreaves is the kind of player you need to pay much for...

Clubs can pay £10-15m for players that have potential but you can never be sure about the quality they will end up with. Hargreaves is a finished product and one of the best in the world on his position. The midfield in Man U will benefit hugely from Hargreaves and it will be hell to meet them next season with C.Ronaldo, Hargreaves, Scholes, Nani.... :shock:

Its all relative, if Young is worth £9.5m then Bellamy is worth £10m

Sunderland are going to bid £2m for Paul Scholes, now that would be a great signing for us. He was absolutely magnificent this season.

I would be happy with NRC, a decent player who, needs to change clubs. England U21 captain, wanted last summer by Arsenal and Man U, he WILL flourish under MON no question.

I note that you joined on 31/12/06, just in time for a moan during that window. Fact is that the players we want may not be able to move until a replacement is in place, either way we will conduct our business properly, let West Ham and Ian Beale do the talking and MO'N will do the business for us.

Good luck to them, Kamara, Davies, Mcshane, Koumas are all overrated. If they were so good they would have pissed the league or got out of jail today. Their attitude stinks as the best squad they finished 4th in a poor league.

A lot of talk about Curtis Davies but he has hardly been great at WBA, relegated and then 4th in the 1st division with the best squad. WBA haven't really missed him while he has been out injured. For the money quoted I would rather get an international who is proven.

I would rather see Bellamy, Smith has never really been prolific.

So because Gardner has had a few good games (we finished 11th mind) and finished a volley like Lampard does, we shouldn't be buying a new central midfielder? Now see that's the mentality I am afraid of, it's dangerous to big up your talents and place too much responsibility on his shoulders.

A good few of us liked what we saw from Gardner before this good run of results. He did pretty well with the responsibility against the dogshit last year.

Should we go for Bale? £10m+, now that would be a lot of responsibility. Heskey was good under O'Neill with that responsibility, probably better than he has been for most of the rest of his career.
