  1. Did it annoy anyone else that the experts in the studio didn't really acknowledge JG input in the game, Sterling was getting all the plaudits. I thought he was awful bar the goal, kept running into players and tripping over his own feet, even played them through for Muller to miss.

Think if Saka or Foden had come on and changed the game like that then they would have gone wild.

Think only Linekar mentioned that the 3rd biggest cheer of the night was when Grealish came on. Other than that nothing.

    Found it strange

Hundreds of post in the last few days but no Tammy Abraham thread yet. Is there any credible link worth opening the thread?

It was the daily mirror, caused 50 pages of nonsense!

Personally I think they should be on the speculation blacklist

  3. The best thing about this is that even if we don't get him, it sends waves through the footballing world that Aston Villa are back and mean business.

Other players we go in for now would be more inclined to join us knowing we are a top club again with big ambitions!

  4. An article from the Daily Mirror has caused quite a stir over the last few pages including an argument between 2 posters, and The Sun with Grealish the other day. Surprised these 2 aren't on the blacklist when Twitter ITK accounts are.. (John Percy, Fabrizio Romano etc)

    Sterling isn’t even the problem.

Quite honestly, it’s the shit tactics.  2 holding midfielders?!

Phillips should’ve come off for Jack.

Not only that, but if you do play 2 holding midfielders then your #10 needs to be a real playmaker

Instead we get Mount who is not creative, yes he gets the odd goal here and there. However looking at his stats he's more of an industrious type, a defensive #10 (if such a thing exists). His assists and chance creation stats are poor.

This then leaves just 3 attacking players on the pitch. Thats the reason in 2 games theres been very little attacking prowess - 2 shots on target v Croatia and only 1 tonight v Scotland who are the 3rd lowest ranked team in the tournament.

If he loves Mount so much, he should play in midfield instead of one of Rice or Phillips.

If Grealish cant get in the team on the wings then he most certainly should be playing in this role instead of Mount.

Honestly it’s not even the wingers that’s the big problem here.

This guy just packs 6 players defensively and hopes the ‘pace’ will unlock one goal.

Has no intention of controlling a game.

Dont care who he bring on, but get one of those midfielders off for a more attacking option.

But wtf do I know? If you say anything on here you get criticised for Southgate bashing.

No Doubt we’ll get a shot in target, and manage to squeeze in a goal, win 1-0 and all these chaps will be out in force saying Southgate was spot on.

There's a reason why he got Middlesbrough relegated and failed to bring them back up, that was a really expensive squad as well.

He finished 9th in his last season with us.

Say no to Houllier season erasure!

    Oh yeah

Damn, we were flirting with relegation most that season as well. Just the last couple months we put some results together and shot up the league!

Looking back that was still a decent squad with Young, Bent, Delph etc

  8. I just seen a picture in the 21/22 new kit thread and had to come in this thread to see if it was legit 🤣

Welcome back Ash, lets see if you can make it four 6th place finishes in a row for Villa!

  9. I didnt really think this was on and just thought it was one of those many stupid rumours you hear every summer.

Looks like it is happening then!

Guess he gives us an option as he can play 5 positions, not bad if we have an injury crisis.

Plus with it being a free transfer it means more funds for the players we are targeting for the first team improvements rather than squad fillers

  10. I always thought it was very odd how they try to get you out of the ground as quick as possible.

Once me and my friends stayed behind a bit chatting whilst the queues to get out were ridiculous, and the stewards came to us told us to leave.

Think its a good idea if they kept certain areas open with people buying drinks and food and having the late kick off on screens for people to hang about, helps reduce the immediate traffic around the area as well. I'd rather be standing in the concourse watching a match with my friends than sat in the car in a traffic jam.

It's about what the club can do though. I also think it is a bit disingenuous from the club to support such campaigns in the UK while not mentioning it on the arabian twitter page. Maybe they already plan to. They have taken a stance on the knee and I support that. They can probably do less about the selling of weapons I'd imagine.

Regarding some would say what I wrote is Islamophobic, I would ask the exact same if the club had a Hungarian twitter page (a country that is mostly catholic - which I also am). In fact I would probably have a stronger opinion considering the law that they just passed yesterday. I am talking basic human rights for everyone regardless of whether it's Riyadh or Rotherham.

Yeah I agree, but it just seemed very specific and a strange thing to want bringing up in a fans consultation forum when theres worse things happening in the world (and UK) than a few keyboard warriors in Egypt.

  12. He was an absolute assist machine in the 3 years we had him, I believe only Fabregas had more assists than him during that period.

I have really fond memories of him and he was by far my favourite player in that era. And as someone else mentioned - our best player in between Yorke and Grealish timeline.

having said that, he's not going to be the same player that left us. I mean someone along the way decided to switch him to LB rather than LW.

I'd rather keep the fond memories of him rather than see fans expecting too much from a 36 year old, don't want that tarnished.

I've noticed that the club have an arabian twitter page. I believe it is very new (only a few months old).

Will this page also be used to promote equality campaigns such e.g. rainbow laces when the PL is doing it or will there be no mention of such campaigns on the arabian twitter page?

Maybe we should concentrate on fixing our own issues before telling other nations what they should and shouldn't do. Like booing players for standing up to equality or selling weapons to illegally occupying nations.

Not trying to have a dig, just hate how the media is turning  people into having holier than thou attitudes. Some would even say thats bordering Islamophobic what you wrote

  14. One thing Sterling is very good at is getting in behind and making runs through on goal.

But he's bang average at everything else and seems clueless what to do with the ball at times.

He does have goals in him despite having pretty poor finishing, he needs a few chances but the very nature of his runs he always gets chances. Its almost like having a wide striker rather than a traditional winger.

After the season he's had I was very surprised to see him first pick, and despite scoring I thought he had a mixed game as all of above was evident. But because he's scored he is now flavour of the month again so will play every game. Foden and Rashford are both above Jack currently as well. Dont think we're going to see much of Jack this tournament unfortunately, unless theres injuries.

Yeah, I can't wait for things to be better right around the world for everyone. Here, it's still very much frowned upon to even consider hugging people outside your bubble. And even in my own bubble, my mother won't hug me. Not because I smell (!!), but she's just being ultra-careful, being elderly etc.

There are people that have taken it very seriously indeed, and I'm not suggesting that the image posted includes people who 'don't give a toss...' but it's not a great example to be plastering everywhere. It doesn't look good.

Didn't realise the virus had found its way to Tatooine! Blimey!

  16. Entered a speculation thread about Josh King only to find everyone talking about Marlon Harewood

Guess that shows the credibility of the link, and leaves me with just one thing to say before I make my exit from this thread never to return..

    Marlon King
