I still think he's a better prospect than Archer.

Not sure a 24 year old can be considered a prospect anymore

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Archer is our top scorer this season and hes only played a handful of games. Natural finisher

I take my girlfriend out for one night ONE NIGHT during the transfer window and we are credibly linked to Luis Suarez?!

My missus is going to fcking hate the summer this year as we're doing Jack shit.

Just curious, but is that the same person?

  3. Threw away 3 points today, should have wo that game if it weren't for stupid errors!

Martinez, what a time to make your first mistake this season (was never a free kick in the first place though)

Both their goals were gifts when we have to beat 15 people to score a goal, can't do that.

  4. Whilst I strongly believe he's not good enough for us anymore, I don't think its an unfair price. He's not that bad, just if he knew when to pass and when to shoot then he'd be half decent.

When you think it cost roughly the same we paid for McCormack 4 years ago, it's not unfair value. He does score some important goals. And will be leaving with a 100% penalty record, don't think we can say that about any ex players

JJ isn’t even looking at the ball or running into the box to try and play the ball, anyone trying to argue otherwise needs to watch it again. It’s a foul

Plus he's offside, which I think is the deciding factor.

I haven't got an issue with that being called. What I have an issue with is why have they checked everything else first, it's almost like they were looking for reasons to disallow it rather than checking for clear and obvious errors.

The incident last year when Bruno stamped on Konsa and got a penalty, that was decided by VAR in less than 5 seconds, why wasnt that checked thoroughly like everything else, if they looked at that like they did the incident last night then that penalty would never have been given!

Seems like different rules depending on the team, thats what I take issue with

Cissokho, Richardson, Bennett, Luna all seemed to be first choice for a while. If not including first choice I wont include Nicky Shorey then

It has been a stellar position for us 🤮🤮🤮

Bit harsh on Bennett as he was a youngster, but the other 3 I'm sure would have been better in the championship than Taylor (as rubbish as they were in the prem).

In the championship Taylor would regularly get turned inside out, continuously give the ball away, and had no idea what to do with the ball across the half way line. Truly diabolical.

Really like Digne, my only reservation is that both Coutinho and Digne seem to be   short term team upgrades. I think it’s a given that they make the team and squad better, but I worry it may mean that Gerrard is maybe looking at the short term. That’s fine I guess but it does little to pacify those that see Gerrard’s approach as a job interview for redscouse.

Again nothing specifically wrong with that, but if it’s at the expense of our academy players (which i’m not saying it is, but just following through with the logic) then we may not be on as sound a footing after he leaves as some are assuming.

Hope this is all nonsense, but it’s a niggling feeling.

He's 28, and will still be 28 when the season ends.. he's 15 months older than McGinn for crying out loud. Why are people talking like we're signing a 35 year old?

I agreed with everything until this bit. Neil Taylor sadly might not even make the top 5 worst Villa left backs in the last 15 years 😂

I did say regular, as in someone who spent at least half a season as first choice.. who do you think he's better than?

  9. Don't know why so many people are getting on Matt Targets back, I think he's been an excellent signing from where we were to where we are now, he was our player of the season last year as well.

You need 2 good players for each position these days, so I welcome this addition.. but perplexed to read so many saying we should sell Targett in the summer

I certainly feel more comfortable when he crosses the ball than when Matty Cash does from the other side.

Maybe I think hes a lot better than he actually is because he replaced Taylor, who I 100% believe is the worst regular left back we've had since I started following Villa in the late 80s.

If I was going to Brum, I’d stay in the city centre again and bus or train to VP, not Vice versa.

Depends on the situation.. If I was staying to catch a game, I'd rather stay walking distance from Villa Park and, if needed, catch public transport later in the day / next day into Birmingham to have a look around. The sheer volume of people exiting a game makes it more appealing to stay at a hotel by the ground to chill - especially if it had all the facilities of a proper nice hotel.

Maybe in the future Villa Park will be included as a tram stop making it even easier to get to the city centre or Star City.

See the follow up post from OBE explaining that the notes were printed before the meeting  and during the meeting your points were made clear. Following this, the club agreed to look into what options they have as they'd under appreciated how some people might still not know the score (e.g. foreign based fans and those watching u23 games like yourself)

If they continue to ignore the ask then the criticism is deserved.

Reading the transcript, it genuinely looks like they are talking about the main team not the U23s / u18s.

Which would make sense, as the official platforms dont really think they exist anyway, they only ever mention the womens team (apart from the mens team)

With regards to posting the result of games when we play highlights / full match replays, in a modern digital age, there must be very few supporters who do not know the result of a game when we are able to broadcast footage – sometimes this is the following day due to holdback restrictions.

Hang on, no media outlet reports the scores for U23 / U18 games.

Was it made clear to them that we arent complaining about the premier league results?

I dont get the chance to watch the U23s live as it usually clashes with a premier league game or something else that I give preference to and like to put it on when I go to bed.. but they give the score away in the video heading.

Theyve completely dismissed these concerns like they dont exist, well on that basis I wont be signing up for it next season. I'm not watching 90 minutes of football when I know the result, if they think thats not an issue then they dont know what football is about.

It's more about building a stadium for where you want to be in a couple of years when the work is done to be fair. We're filling the stadium almost all the time now and we're nowhere near where we want to be.

Exactly, if we're a top 6 club playing regularly in Europe, then 60k should be the ambition

Still 700 left - the first game we've had that hasn't sold out this season.

Interesting, I havent even tried to buy any tickets this season as all the noise has all been that its very hard to get tickets, especially as we have 20k season ticket waiting list and priority being given to claret members and mates of season ticket holders. Maybe other fans are thinking this also?

Build it and the fans will follow .

West Ham and Spuds went from 35k to 60k .

This is a very good point, I never thought West Ham could attract so many fans.

I think football is at a very good point right now, with all round attendances at all clubs the highest theyve been in my lifetime -  and we are missing out.

I think we could easily get 60k for most games, people are remembering bad periods when we couldnt sell out due to having a poor teams and clouding their judgment.

Maybe they can design it so in future if the demand does go downthey could convert a part of the stadium into something else, more corporate, or take the seats out of an upper tier and turn it into a go kart track or ice rink with massive screens / advertising boards on the crowd facing walls so it stays hidden.

  16. I never understood why they changed the 102/104/105 buses to x3,x4,X5 and every single one of them go up the express way just past Erdington.

They are frequent buses, come every 7 to 10 minutes, why can't half of them use the old route through Aston? Perhaps drop the X on the ones that don't use the express way. A lot of villa fans live in Sutton (and beyond) and many are deterred by having to change buses in Erdington.. and the bus from Erdington takes a detour on match days leaving you with a half hour walk from the cemetery.

When I was younger me and my brother's would always catch the bus there and back but the option isn't there anymore really unless you fancy a long walk.

Last time I went by train but it was a joke, never doing that again.

Going by car is stupid as well, as the traffic is so heavy until you get past the lights at spaghetti junction. It's really irritating as there's nothing coming from the other direction on the roundabout causing a massive backlog. Why can't these lights be turned off on match days so it can be used as a regular roundabout for an hour or so.

Seems to be the council and transport companies have no interest in making things easier for the fans, they'd prefer it if people were put off from attending matches it seems

Tbh, it's a tough one. As we line up the corner Watkins is in what would be an offside position and is interfering with De Gea. But the ball is played backwards so he can't possibly be offside.

When Hause heads it, De Gea has pushed himself clear, and Watkins is still in an offside position but no longer in De Gea's eyeline, but he's still reaching back and they're only just detangling from each other. Is this interfering with play? I'd certainly feel a little peeved if it was the other way around Not going to shed any tears after the decisions they've got against us over the years, but I think we got away with one here.

Yeah but Ole is moaning that its offside, not that he was impeding with the keeper.

I'm sure they see all the replays pitchside, so he would have seen it back and didn't moan about the impeding, its since been proven from various angles that he wasn't offside.

If we're going to win to the thing will have to beat Chelsea or a team as good as them eventually anyway. Same with qualifying for Europe, we aren't finna achieve that without getting results against the division's best teams at some point.

Not necessarily, the year we lost to Bradford in the semis, Swansea were waiting for us in the final had we won that game. (Swansea beat Bradford 5-0 in the final)

England almost made it to the world cup final without playing one of the big boys (getting knocked out by Croatia still wasnt a big boy)

It can happen by avoiding the big boys, I'd rather we get easier games and hope for shock results knocking the big teams out so you can avoid them completely.

  19. Did it annoy anyone else that the 2 Chukwuemekas both had "C." before their names on the kit?

I mean whats the point, its supposed to distinguish the 2 players, so surely it makes no sense to add another 2 characters as the name is long enough as it is

  20. Seems odd to bring him on for Ings against Newcastle then just completely out of the picture tonight

If hes backup to Ings / Watkins then surely he needs minutes tonight; if he isnt then what was the point in bringing him on against  Newcastle?

Still an absolutely fantastic goal scored.

Yeah, it flew in the net after a miskick.. It looked good but I wouldnt put it on any greatest goals lists

Everything Wayne Rooney did was over hyped by the media. Le Tissier literally scored 20 better goals than that but no one in the media still goes on about them like they do with Rooneys goals.
