Maybe there are some racists at the grounds, but I don't remember seeing much booing of the Kick It Out racism campaign that's been going on for years and years? Surely that would have been booed too if everyone was just a massive racist?

There was no one moment that gave the opportunity for mass booing though. When the players take the knee for roughly 20 seconds it gives the racists a chance to collectively boo.

How was a crowd supposed to collectively boo something that's just in the background? That's why you don't remember boos for kick it out

Still with Cazoo next season aren't we? They certainly got a better deal from us than they did with Everton (who they pay £4m more to each season, I believe for much the same exposure).

Wow, thats shocking, I had just presumed it would be the same money for similar sized clubs.

I dont understand why we cant rake in the same amounts as some perceived "bigger" clubs. We have a massive fan base, surely thats what sponsorships would look at, rather than where a team finished in the league? We have more fans than Man City and Chelsea so you'd imagine companies would rather expose themselves to more people. Especially when you consider some of these teams have separate sponsors for league and Europe.

The booing by England fans was a small proportion, rapidly drowned out by clapping. Compare and contrast with the Bulgarian lot.

Dunno, felt like the England fans booing was louder than when Bulgaria were booing.

Just think we were quick to point fingers when in reality the issue is just as bad here

Edit: When you consider that a full stadium will have a much larger ratio proportion of people who are booing it really hits home. When you think 20k people booing the team they are "supporting", when all they are doing is taking a knee for equality awareness - it really really saddens me.

I've tried to have a rational conversation with a few of them on twitter to try to understand where they are coming from.. but I just can't see their point of view. They deny its an act of racism and that they dont believe in "Marxism" that BLM portrays. When I ask them what Marxism is, if they could explain it to me..  they tend to finish the conversation!

Someone posted earlier that they should pan the camera over them when they do it, would be comforting at least to put some faces to these idiots who then have to answer to their bosses at work at least.

Ireland players booed by Hungary fans tonight for taking the knee

I find it odd that when Bulgaria showed racism when we played them recently how much of a fuss the UK media caused.

Yet when the English folks show racism by booing taking the knee it doesnt make the headlines anywhere near as much.

  5. Apart from his free kicks, I don't think he's that good.

Yes free kicks is something we struggle with, but we dropped Hourihane because of that reason.. didn't do enough with non dead ball situations.

For the money he would cost there's better value out there

The last player we signed from Southampton turned out pretty good. Get it done even though it does feel like a complete nothing article.

    Hassan Kachloul?

    Thought he was rubbish

    Edit.. Matt Targett, just realised!

Are we going to be one of the last teams to show their new kit and last to get it on sale again? May as well stick with tradition.

    Always the way.

I used to think it was because every summer we either have a new manufacturer or sponsor, but over time I realised thats not the case.. this summer is an example of that as both Kappa and Caazoo are still in place so thats not an excuse.

    36 games 2 goals

For Burnley though, not exactly the most attacking and fluent of teams who just finished above the relegation zone.

He's 21 and has shown a lot of talent over the last 2 seasons.

  9. Yes please, I think he's technically very good. Rarely gives the ball away, range of passing is superb and has some tricks in him as well.

Not sure left wing is his best position, I've always felt central midfield is where he will eventually end up.

He might have been once, I don't think he is now. Watching him for the U23s he looked like he was struggling to get down to the ground fast enough.

Admittedly I haven't seen him since his return from injury, but based on watching him over the last decade - he's far superior to Henderson who makes a massive mistake every few games.

Yes because to win the title you sign an injury prone keeper that was No.2 at Burnley and Villa on a freebie.

He's still better than Henderson though, it's not even close

We signed a reserve keeper from Arsenal and hes in pretty much every ones team of the year.

  12. Yeah I agree about letting El Ghazi go with now being the best time to do it.

He's not very creative, if at all. Don't think hes had a single assist all season, (or even created a big chance?). If teams scouted us properly they would know all he wants to do is cut inside and blast it as hard as he can (usually over the bar) with the odd one flying in.

Very much a highlights player that probably looks good on match of the day.

I would spend big on a replacement in the 30-40m range, get a proper creative winger in so Jack can play in the middle, we played our best football of the season when Barkley was injured and Jack was moved to the #10 role.

Youth Cup semi-final will be Friday 14th May at 18:00.

I think that one might deserve its own thread.

    It's live on BT Sport.

Will it still be on VillaTV for £1.99?

I take it BT dont do day passes like Sky do (NowTV)?

  16. 11th to 17th is a bit of a strange option!

Would feel satisfied with 11th but 17th would be a disaster, strange how they are bundled in the same option lol

Anywhere between 8th - 12th I expect us to finish, and that would be a great second season

  17. Any news on Traore? surprised no one asked the question in the 16 minute pre match presser

We need a bit of quality on the wings, at least on one side.. the thought of El Gahzi and Trez dreads me as neither is very creative
