  1. Sell off, outsource, privatisation. Call it what you will. It's private companies, often linked to the Tory party, making a profit from people being sick. It doesn't drive up standards or efficiency but some people get rich, so it's being done.
  2. And yet they aren't actually selling it are they? What they are doing (rightly or wrongly) is paying private entities to provide services but this is not "selling" the NHS.Here's a GP's view of the situation. http://youtu.be/stKfbaxJNIk
  3. I call it theft. They've no mandate to sell the NHS, but they're doing it regardless.
  4. A 96 ton asteroid is passing us tonight, apparently.
  5. The failed badger cull that cost millions...that's the Tories cleaning up the mess.
  6. The government closed a bedroom tax loophole today. Thousands of more people will suffer the bedroom tax as the Tories continue to clean up the mess.
  7. 145 job losses in Cardiff today as the Tories continue in their mission to clean up the mess. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-26451690
  8. Clearing up the mess? That's another interesting way of looking at it.
  9. The current government are belt tightening? That's an interesting way of looking at it. If a guy breaks into your house and takes all of your stuff to sell to his mates down the pub is he doing it for your benefit or his? Theft and nest feathering is what's going on, not belt tightening. It's a completely selfish endeavour and they're putting the mechanisms in place so that they can carry on doing it beyond 2015 by weakening your rights and our democracy.
  10. At Paddy Power you can bet on the Pistorius trial. Surely it's time to tighten up the regulations on betting. I'd start by banning those freakin' annoying betting adverts. 'Will you? Won't you? Will you? Won't you?' Yes I bloody would! Who's the daddy now!
  11. Disgusting. How is this legal? Someone should take this up in Strasbourg. This one slipped by with very little fuss didn't it. The BBC likes to drive home the Tory 'we must outsource' message when understaffed wards with over worked nurses results in levels of care falling short. What's vile is the way that the nurses, who's view is never heard, are passively blamed. So, no heads have rolled for this, and yet here it's reported that more data is being used for commercial purposes. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/hospital-records-used-to-target-ads-on-twitter-and-facebook-say-privacy-campaigners-in-latest-nhs-data-concerns-9166633.html?utm_content=buffere1d32&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer More of your confidential medical records have been sold it seems. This time Marcus Agius has got hold of them. What could possibly be the problem in letting a man who was 'heavily involved' in the Barclays Libor scandal loose with your most private information? You might want to remember all this come May 2015, especially if your insurance premiums have gone up... http://tompride.wordpress.com/2014/03/03/government-sells-entire-nhs-patient-data-to-firm-headed-by-disgraced-banker/
  12. One of Cameron's advisors is arrested on suspicion of child abuse images. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26428308

  14. Henry doesn't really want to be stirring up that hornet nest. He's right though, contracts mean very little in football.
  15. Britain and America have no moral ground to stand on when lecturing anybody about military invasions.
  16. Then you fail to understand its purpose. It may indeed end up a folly when viewed in isolation, but it will lead an improved transport infrastructure. We're clearly not going to agree on this. Billions spent on this could be spent more effectively elsewhere IMO.
  17. It was opposition from Labour backbenchers which eventually stemmed the cuts. But I take your point. On HS2, the economic benefits have been exaggerated, and criticism censored, I think it's a folly. Billions of pounds of wasted money.
  18. The Tories decimated the network around my area in the 1960's beaching axe.
  19. Seven government ministers turned up for the war on welfare debate in the commons today. They don't give a f... This government have no mandate to do what they're doing.
  20. The pinch points are in and out of London mainly, and this is what this folly is supposed to address. Fifty odd billion could be far better spent helping other regions economy's grow.
  21. RBS make £8.2bn losses (up 56%). Employees are to share £576m in bonuses. Of course they are, makes perfect sense. Edit - more in link. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/10664372/RBS-has-lost-all-the-46bn-pumped-in-by-the-taxpayer.html
  22. Something we already knew about the Royal Mail robbery confirmed. Billions lost on the sale price alone. http://www.leftfootforward.org/2014/02/new-figures-show-taxpayers-lost-billions-on-royal-mail-privatisation/
  23. Nearly 6000 people have signed this petition in under three hours against the daily mail's sexualisation of children. https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/daily-mail-mailonline-stop-the-daily-mail-sexualising-children
  24. The Tories want to shift power even further away from the people towards big corporations by championing ISDS, as Caroline Lucas of the Green party explains. http://www.carolinelucas.com/blog/2014/02/25/what-about-our-rights-as-citizens/
  25. And of course, nor did the Conservatives, as it was Labour who awarded Atos their contract, and asked them to run the tests in the first place. ..and your point is?
