Am more than hopeful that PL will be a success, I just wish we'd been given a more favourable set of fixtures (like AM had last year). That said, everything about him so far instils confidence, he's a winner, he wants to play possession football, he's trying to find value in our signings, there's a real buzz around the place.

On his day, an excellent defender. I don't get to see as many games as I'd like live these days but I've seen him put his body on the line enough times. Think he'll get shipped out though due to the off-the-field stuff. Let's face it, everyone has been crap this last season or two, would be interesting to see how much better they are capable of with someone like Lambert as manager.

Er can I just point something out? None of us have a **** clue what is written in his contract. Could be three lines on a bit of bog roll for all we know. So let's all chill out shall we and stop pretending we're Rumpole of the **** Bailey.

Wonder how much of a blow it will be if we don't get the backroom staff, would take a bit of the glow off for me, if they've been as integral to Lambert's success as we're led to believe. Anyway, being positive let's hope Randy doesn't stand for it.

Firstly, for the record, I still think Dunne and Collins are, even though not currently at their best, top quality central defenders. I would genuinely like to know where the reputation for troublemakers comes from. Is it because of them falling out with Houllier (the same man who so many on here say fawned over Liverpool and didn't motivate his players)? Don't seem to remember them playing badly under MON. In fact Dunne was a pretty much a fans favourite. The manager has to get the best out of his players. I still think they could have a future at the club. On another note, I just wonder what Richard knows, or is pretending to know. Could it just be that Randy intends to sell up? To an even richer man? Or get further investment from elsewhere. Can't see what other news would get him so excited apart from shedloads of money to spend.

Someone mentioned on here last night that McLeish may have been a necessary evil, that they were never going to back him financially, they just needed someone to come in and cut costs but have enough grit about them to keep us up. I won't suggest that it worked out great but maybe just maybe with the ugly first step achieved we can look ahead to a brighter second step.

Their attitude is they simply dismiss us as some piddly little club & then think we should all simply shut up & accept our piddly little lot & be happy about it...You know what? ....Up Yours Quinn!! Well said that man! I also feel we get labelled that way as we have been lacking our own real identity since MON left so people fill one in for us. Everyone going on about how Lambert shouldn't do this and shouldn't sign this player, just get over yourselves. Give the man a chance, he's not even manager yet and you're already having a moan. I hope Lambert comes, as someone else stated, he's seemingly a lower risk candidate than most of the other names we're seeing and with just as much (if not more) potential. Above all, he seems a born winner. As for those people saying what if he walks out on us. Well walking could be seen as a more honest thing to do than hanging around looking to pick up a fee. Apart from Martinez, I can't think of any other managers turning down bigger clubs ever. It's a fact of life and if he gets us up to 6th and in 4 years we are a victim of our own success, so be it. We will be in a better position to recruit another new manager

An our obsession with AVB is?

Have to say that Lambert seems to be as highly qualified as any other name I have seen bandied around here, foreign or home-based, excluding Rafa. Think Rafa's unlikely though and would be more of a risk in my opinion than PL. Also hoping that early fears if him playing a defensive style have been quashed. There seems to be a few high-scoring games in his managerial history. Pretty decent success at Wycombe, Colchester and Norwich. Let's not stuff this up.

I hope this. Otherwise could be embarrassing. Must be a done deal otherwise why would a watertight campaign suddenly let this out?

Sorry for the hysteria. Trying to figure out how journos know that there will be an approach within 24 hours. What does that mean? Villa said to reporters, "hey you know what? Quite like that Lambert chap. Think we may ask permission to talk with him..."? Surely there's nothing to report until they actually HAVE made an approach, not about to?
