Me too
If he stays, he’ll end up with a statue at villa park. He will see that every time he goes to villa park for the rest of his life.
The statue will live on another 500 years.
No one will give 2 shits how many medals he won with City in 10 years time.
Indeed, I do not understand those who will see him as a legend if he goes. He will have left the story part the way through. When the trajectory is upward. With owners that do not want or need to sell. To a domestic rival, with a unsavoury history with Villa. Without winning anything of note for Villa. At the first real test of loyalty.
Now if he stays, that is a different story...

Do you not think he'll already be a Villa legend? The local lad who came up through the ranks, got us promoted and stablised the club, probably the best player to wear the shirt since McGrath, beating Blues after taking a sucker punch to the head, playing in an England squad that got to the first final since 66.
If he wants to leave now to win medals because deep down he doesn't believe the owners can get the club there then who am I to argue that?
Take the point about whether he wants be someone who forces the move or not but all players, even legendary ones get to the point where they look around, Shearer with Man U, Gerrard with Chelsea, Messi with PSG/Man City.
No. Not for me.

Just what I had stated last night mate and mentioned by a few others already, that the bid is going to be rejected and Jack will be staying with us.
Well that’s the nail the coffin. This is going the same way as Rashica and Leao.

Tonked 4-0 by the Tesco bags today, pre-season not going well for them
All energy focused on the Grealish to City transfer saga. They’ve forgot to prepare for the season.

Dunno, I am going by what my son told me yesterday. If that's been disproven I apologise.
It may have been that avfc faithful Twitter account. Tweeted that Wes had landed . Then said in the comments underneath that ‘he assumed’ he would because it’s important.

Maybe standing in Jack's way when an appropriate offer comes in puts off those players making their last move before the big one joining us?
Like I said, just a thought.I have also been developing a thought like this. That him going might actually help us attract talent, beyond the obvious FFP related fee we'll receive. Hear me out for a second..
Pre-NSWE Grealish was a 23 y/o Championship player, with ability, unrealised potential but roundly mocked by other fanbases for our suggestions of his quality. NSWE Villa have given the tools, the environment and opportunity for him to become the international £100+ million the player he is today. We are aggressive and want success, but we also understand an individuals personal immediate ambition. We have said, we want you, we want success also, we will to build around you and put you centre stage, we will get there BUT if you want success now and want to go we will not stand in your way (provided our reasonable valuation is met). We as a club can now point to this and say look at our track record. We hoover up the talent that is currently a tier below the top but with potential to be top tier. All the while we are utilising that talent to get closer to that top tier.
Also people seem to be underestimating a young football player's ego. They do not think, "Oh no, Jack is gone I do not want to go there" they think "I am better than Jack, I will can emulate him and even surpass him, I will go there and succeed. This club will help me succeed". I suspect even a few in the squad will be currently thinking this, envious of the spotlight, opportunity and status that has been given to Jack.
Believe in the project. NSWE have been true to every word so far.
Fans mocking the talk of our CL ambition now, were the same ones mocking us over Grealish being a European talent worth hundreds of millions pounds a few short seasons ago.

I think he would be a legend for us.
Within 18 months he'd be keeping Jack out of the England team.
It is the song that gives Jack his powers anyway.
P90x and a few protein shakes for Toddy and the prediction will come true.

Pity we didn't sign him a week ago then he could have "hot toddy" !!!

My perception of football twitter is that it's mostly teenagers with names like x_x_CR7_x_x posting the phrase "cry more" 300 times a day
Is probs 95% bots interacting with each other. Not really what cybernet had in mind. OT: Love ya Jack

Got to agree. They even made a good job of Latics (everything else there is going down the pan):

To say Grealish saved us a relegation battle is massively underplaying the roles the rest of the team had.
I would Covid break, switch to defensive solidity, 60% McGinn, Konsa at RB and Trez finding shooting boots were all as important.
I think the one true moment of pure individual Grealish was 10 game winning run. (He went a bit missing in the playoffs though (hides behind sofa))

Before we signed Barkley it was reported that we wanted either him or Loftus-Cheek on loan from Chelsea. Traore had also been linked for quite a while before being finalized

Would he want Jack at his main rival though?
On a separate note, from my time working with Manchester City, it'll be really important to their owners that this happens.
When they were being held to ransom over Lescott, it was the case that because it had been so heavily publicised, the owners couldn't be seen to not be able to get him. Garry Cook was told to sign him at any cost, as it was a matter of pride. They ended up paying about double what everyone was expecting.
Interesting. Maybe we could squeeze a few tens of millions more..

Every season we get fans of other clubs popping in with some advice. We used to get Leeds fans telling us how to get rid of a crap owner. Then it was Brentford’s patronising version of recruitment for beginners. Now it’s Leicester’s school of how to get bent over without Vaseline. There’s also an Arsenal fan but with no discernible advice to give, I think he’s just comes in to get away from the screaming in the Arsenal forums.
Well thanks for thinking of us but frankly you’re a bit toe curling. We’re sort of used to visits from SHA and of course the Dingles, although not so much recently for some reason. So understandable though your obsession with a big club is, I think your Moms will be worried that you’re out so late. Run along, good lads.
Brilliant lad.

The problem with players from abroad is I still have nightmares of the Garde era where we had all those decent French players but it was the case of right players wrong time.
Too many foreign players will take a long time to settle. We have to get the blend right. JWP will give us stability and leadership and will hit the ground running. He’s also never injured and his set piece quality will add 5-7 goals a season I imagine.
I’m all for the Baileys of this world, but we need to first make sure we’re nowhere near a relegation battle.
I’d take him in heartbeat. I’m just not convinced he’s leave Southampton for us minus Grealish. Maybe I’m being too negative.

Single handedly? There’s other players around him. The management. The owners.
Shame he didn’t single handedly prevent all time low relegation, and then the double failure to gain promotion. Our success and his rise to prominence coincidentally occurred with the arrival NSWE.

The question is do those players come to a Villa without grealish?
JWP, would be a questionable one for me. I think we’ll need to rebuild our reputation first. It would be a gamble for him atm.
I would look abroad. High potential with the want to make it in the PL. Lange and Mckenzie et al, need to earn their wage. If he goes. We can point to him being a success story of personal triumph. Look what can be achieved. We put our players over etc.

One of the worst thing about this sorry saga is when the ‘I told you so’ brigade come out in full force.

Just now, Kiwivillan said:People can say how good he's been for us and thanks for all he's done but this is leaving us in the lurch massively. 5 year deal signed last season believes in the project, my city my club. Total bollocks. This is as bad or worse than Delph and up there with MON walking out. I'll be just about done with the PL. City financial frauds getting away with murder and nothing done about it.
Yes this is where my 'disappointment' is. Feels like this has been a consideration for him and his team for a while, working in the background. Villa seem to have been confident that he would stay. 12 months into a new 5 year contract. "Excited for the ambitions, etc." Feels like we've been a doormat. It has all been about him. Getting him fit for Euros. Putting him over. Holidaying whilst this all goes on in the background, surely with his knowledge. All the while the club preparing for a season with him.
This one was suppose to be different. One of our own. Boyhood fan. Owners that were willing to build the team around him and try to compete.
But don't give up man. The team, the colours, the history, the community, the spirit, VP. City cannot buy that. I pour my love and admiration into that. We have those who remain that are willing to still fight and compete for this club. We have those that are still to come and those that are still yet to reach their potential. NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN THIS CLUB.

Not a good analogy. Jack Dawson ends up leaving the wooden shard, sinking into a cold, lifeless, blue abyss.
