If he stays, he’ll end up with a statue at villa park.  He will see that every time he goes to villa park for the rest of his life.

The statue will live on another 500 years.

No one will give 2 shits how many medals he won with City in 10 years time.

Indeed, I do not understand those who will see him as a legend if he goes. He will have left the story part the way through. When the trajectory is upward. With owners that do not want or need to sell. To a domestic rival, with a unsavoury history with Villa. Without winning anything of note for Villa. At the first real test of loyalty.

Now if he stays, that is a different story...

Do you not think he'll already be a Villa legend? The local lad who came up through the ranks, got us promoted and stablised the club, probably the best player to wear the shirt since McGrath, beating Blues after taking a sucker punch to the head,  playing in an England squad that got to the first final since 66.

If he wants to leave now to win medals because deep down he doesn't believe the owners can get the club there then who am I to argue that?

Take the point about whether he wants be someone who forces the move or not but all players, even legendary ones get to the point where they look around, Shearer with Man U, Gerrard with Chelsea, Messi with PSG/Man City.

    No. Not for me.

I think he would be a legend for us.

Within 18 months he'd be keeping Jack out of the England team.

It is the song that gives Jack his powers anyway.

P90x and a few protein shakes for Toddy and the prediction will come true.

Hummel are absolutely smashing it. 2 lovely kits for Charlton.

Got to agree. They even made a good job of Latics (everything else there is going down the pan):

To say Grealish saved us a relegation battle is massively underplaying the roles the rest of the team had.

I would Covid break, switch to defensive solidity, 60% McGinn, Konsa at RB and Trez finding shooting boots were all as important.

I think the one true moment of pure individual Grealish was 10 game winning run. (He went a bit missing in the playoffs though (hides behind sofa))

Would he want Jack at his main rival though?

On a separate note, from my time working with Manchester City, it'll be really important to their owners that this happens.

When they were being held to ransom over Lescott, it was the case that because it had been so heavily publicised, the owners couldn't be seen to not be able to get him. Garry Cook was told to sign him at any cost, as it was a matter of pride. They ended up paying about double what everyone was expecting.

Interesting. Maybe we could squeeze a few tens of millions more..

Every season we get fans of other clubs popping in with some advice.  We used to get Leeds fans telling us how to get rid of a crap owner. Then it was Brentford’s patronising version of recruitment for beginners. Now it’s Leicester’s school of how to get bent over without Vaseline. There’s also an Arsenal fan but with no discernible advice to give, I think he’s just comes in to get away from the screaming in the Arsenal forums.

Well thanks for thinking of us but frankly you’re a bit toe curling. We’re sort of used to visits from SHA and of course the Dingles, although not so much recently for some reason. So understandable though your obsession with a big club is, I think your Moms will be worried that you’re out so late. Run along, good lads.

    Brilliant lad. 🤣

The problem with players from abroad is I still have nightmares of the Garde era where we had all those decent French players but it was the case of right players wrong time.

Too many foreign players will take a long time to settle. We have to get the blend right. JWP will give us stability and leadership and will hit the ground running. He’s also never injured and his set piece quality will add 5-7 goals a season I imagine.

I’m all for the Baileys of this world, but we need to first make sure we’re nowhere near a relegation battle.

I’d take him in heartbeat. I’m just not convinced he’s leave Southampton for us minus Grealish. Maybe I’m being too negative.

    Agree

The question is do those players come to a Villa without grealish?

JWP, would be a questionable one for me. I think we’ll need to rebuild our reputation first. It would be a gamble for him atm.

I would look abroad. High potential with the want to make it in the PL. Lange and Mckenzie et al, need to earn their wage. If he goes. We can point to him being a success story of personal triumph. Look what can be achieved. We put our players over etc.
