Everyone seems very happy for this appointment....
it's remarkable what a Youtube video can do!.....
there are many factors which could affect OGS success, the main one being funding from Randy....
so a quick question....
If OGS was to receive MON style backing straight away then what do you expect OGS to achieve next season?
If he receives Big Eck style backing then what do you expect OGS to achieve next season?
Its a strange one for me because I find it difficult to lay expectations on him....with Lambert, because we know how he sets his teams up and what he has already done in the premier league we would automatically expect him to propel us up a few places even if he had no money because his game is suited to gettign the best out of average players....
but with Solskjaer, having no premier league pedigree and wanting to play a different type of football its harder to know what would be an achievement next season....
one thing is for sure...everybody who is saying GO GET HIM RANDY must be prepared for a transition phase and simply cannot be calling for his head next year when we finish 9th-12th and dont have a decent cup run.
I dont think he should get MON level backing in his first season. One thing for sure he has not done is make big money signings. I would keep him on a AMc level budget for the first six months. Even that is a LOT of money compared to what he is used to.
First season I would expect 12th playing some great football but getting spanked a few times as he makes mistakes. Loosen up the purse strings next summer or in January once he has found his feet.
Thats my guess anyway. Its football it could all go very well or very badly but at least we know HOW he likes his teams to play and its an exciting way.

And now the dubious and slightly drunk. £10,000 to villatalk if we bag Ole. There, I said it.
Very generous that mate!
Bloody hell, no kidding! Very nice.

One thing I do know about our current board is we dont do guile. I take our and his statements at face value. I doubt we are playing mind games. They genuinely want to interview a few candidates before making an offer.
-
All I am saying is.
GET HIM ON THE PLANE!!

Yeah but the deal seems to be off now.Is there absolutely any chance of us getting him at all? I mean, MM's been wrong before.have you misread what mm said or something? why are you now asking if there's any chance at all of us getting him? course there is, the bloke travelled to birmingham to speak to us ffs
Dont say that man. Lets cling to something potentially great for a while longer.

I imagine RL was anticipating the meeting with OGS to be a lot more low profile than it was, and is sounding out a few of the options and interviewing them. Intrigued to see who the other 2 candidates are, hopefully of a similar calibre and excitement level.
Well if the other two are as exciting I am cool with it. If the other two are Premier league plodders then I am far less jazzed.
Happily it looks like the publicity has ruined things for OGS at home so he really will be motivated to join us. I just hope Randy closes the deal.
That said he he has Rodgers & AVB lined up as his other two then yeah, thats pretty exciting.

Well it was nice to be associated with something exciting for a day. No back to the same old shit. We dont get nice things
-
Disappointment...growing.

This is great, thank you!
"Rbnett: Molde's spokesman has taken the day off."

As far as I'm concerned if the guy can unite the fans and create a buzz around the place then I dont really care about his lack of experience.
Indeed. Its amazing how excited and unified fans are (or as unified as we get).
I know a lot of it is because we are on the rebound but there is something different about this one versus the usual suspects we have been talking about.
Hope the deal doesnt fall through.
-
Morning all. Looks like we are going into meltdown today then..
Hope so. Sure would be nice to have Villa at the center of something exciting for a change.
-
Not sure I can take being turned down after all this excitement.
Of course I said I couldnt take it if McLeish was appointed. I was right
-
Exciting stuff! He wouldnt be coming unless it was a done deal right? I am trying to remember how it went down last year (shudder) pretty much Lerner just spoke to McLeish if memory serves? Lets hope he stays true to form and this is locked down.
-
Gonna be gutted when all this ends up with nothing and Neil Warnock is unveiled as our next manager.
-
Lambert could of jumped at the chance to manage us, he didnt, same as Martinez. Screw em.
-
Would be bloody awesome. Big gamble, exciting young manager. Just what we need.
Hope it happens.
-
Only one downside. How the **** do you chant his name? HOLGNNSSOLDJERS claret and blue army? It will be the world most mumbled chant
-
This is unexpected and good news. I think this is happening. Excellent.
-
I can see Norwich playing real hardball for Lambert. They are on a high after a 12th place finish on their first season back up. They'll want to keep as many of their playing and management staff as possible and may just point blank refuse to let us speak to Lambert. Whereas Whelan seems willing to deal with anybody if the price is right.
Whelan can't do a deal with anyone, he really should concentrate on getting a new manager in, Martinez' contract runs out at the end of June, he doesn't have a manager to be trading, why the hell should anyone talk to him to ask permission, there is certainly no need to.
I thought he signed an extension last summer? Or was that just for a year?

Hey guys i joined last year when i had some news on a transfer target but i didnt bother posting. That news was indeed correct and it involved yohan cabaye. Im a student studying sports journalism in london and i am lucky enough to have a continued work placement at talksport towers.
Randy Lerner willl have compensation wrapped up by friday and im 90% that come Monday lunchtime aston villa will present Paul Lambert as the new coach. Now unlike other appointments Randy will be in attendance in this presentation to show villa fans his commitment, and change in nature.
The downside is today a colleague of mine has personally spoke with quiche flores the former atletico madrid manager, who openly expressed an interest to paul faulkner. He was briefed that the new man will have
8 million plus 50% of player sale fees to invest in the squad.
transfer list 3 current players who have expressed an interest in leaving the club to the boardroom.
I guarantee this will come to fruition in the next few months. quiche flores has been rejected.
Ok interesting post with some good juicy rumour mongering.
But then 5 mins later...
Smetrov lambert is the top target and as of tonight knowone knows his motive as the club havent officialy apporached him yet.
Which is it. He is guaranteed to be manager on monday or he hasnt been approached yet?

Villa forums turn into carnivals whenever it's new manager season.
Its great isnt it? We all get our hopes up and start dreaming again. Fun times.
Reality will arrive soon enough, lets enjoy our hopes for a while.
-
Tommorow we are down to Brendan Rogers and Gus Poyet - IMO of course.
Rodgers would be just fine by me. My second choice behind AVB and pretty close to first. Swansea played the most attractive football I watched last season. I would be over the moon if he came here.
-
Sounded like a farewell speech to me. Anyways seems like a top bloke. He isnt my first pick for Villa. Best of luck to you at Norwich with or without Lambert!
-
I dont want "realistic" targets. I want the best for our club. No relegated managers please. Managers who have proven themselves to play exciting and modern football. Thats AVB & Rodgers.
No Longer Interested: (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Molde FK)

Bloody hell if he is appointed VT is rich. Everyone's bets come in and Islingtonclaret's hundred thousand quid donation to the site! Exciting!
