  1. I think Adam is the anti Lambert signing. He wants young and hungry who will be disciplined and very hard working. Adam is a skilled player but he doesnt have any of those other characteristics.

He's only mid 20's, he just looks 40, so he's still young. As for being hungry, well the guy looks like he enjoys a pie or two but Liverpool probably tell him not to, so I bet he's bloody starving.

lol. Ok he has two of the four then.

Surprised so many folks want him here. He is a dirtier player than Hutton imho.

The more I think about it the more Carroll could make some sense. I still doubt we are in for him but the idea of adding a battering ram alongside a rapier like Bent could work. Guess we will find out.

  3. Fingers crossed. I think the West Ham result is a real problem for us though. Everton has strengthened and lets face it there is a good chance we will be two games in with 0 points. Thats gonna be rough on the team and supporters confidence.

Of course we could strengthen ourselves before next week. Fingers crossed.

  4. I'll tell you what, we're really missing Stan. I've been saying for years that he's one of our unsung heroes. We need to find someone like him.

Totally agree. The bloke got slated way too much. A real captain. He is going to be difficult to replace, but we have to.

Midfielders, we need to buy em, collect em, and catch em all before the window closes!

  5. Shrug. Ok then. We will deffo beat Everton at home. Happy?

Look, I like Lambert, I like the style he has us playing, I think after strengthening we will be a force again within the league.

But right now I think we are a bottom half side who will likely lose to top half sides, maybe we will snatch a couple of wins/draws, if so great but over time we are going to be likely the losers against top half teams.

I dont think this is a particularly negative thing to say. It just seems a sober thing to say.

As this is the transfer thread, I will reiterate I think we need a couple more midfielders, a creative forward and a LB to get competitive with the top ten.

  6. Well everyone has a right to be nervous. We have just lost against a newly promoted side and most likely will lose against Everton for our first game at home.

That said, it was 1-0 not 5-0. While we were not the better team we were not shite either. We played some good football and our new style is absolutley the right way to be playing.

I will give it till the end of the transfer window before I start really getting scared.

Why is it likely? I think that will be quite a closely contested game. We'll draw IMO.

Well because Everton are a top ten side. We have been fighting to stay up. The days of us being on a par with the likes of Everton are long gone I am afraid. Lets hope by the end of the season we will have strengthened enough to be back to pushing for top ten, but right now, well , its unrealistic to think beyond a loss against Everton I think. Sadly.

  8. Sadly I think thats true. Our youth players cannot be the backbone of this team. They just cant. We need to stop kidding (pun intended) ourselves. We might get one or two to become PL level regular players if we are lucky, the rest should be reserve and sub players.

It would be great to believe we can become a home grown player club, winning things on the cheap with our academy graduates, but it just is not going to happen with this batch. We have tried it, it didnt work. Now back to buying players Randy.

  9. I dont like losing.

There was a few steps forward though. I love the WAY Lambert is trying to get us playing. It is attractive and modern, thumbs up.

Problem is, the players are wrong together, no matter how decent they look we just need new ones. Its a shame but Lambert still has to shift / bring in a few key roles. Midfield remains the biggest problem I would like to see two new ones, then a LB at least. We could use a decent striker/forward as well.

Sad but thats the way i see it 8(

  10. An easy 4-0 to Villa. Our possession game will dominate the Hammers as they vainly hoof it forward in between our domination.

My only concern is that Lamberts Norwich struggled against Stoke last season, I am not sure he knows how to counter that style.

We shall see. Oh and I saw his pre match interview. Love this guy. He just oozes confidence with a "You people seem to be forgetting I am a winner." vibe to him.

    Lets go lads!

  11. Yes my friend im 1000% behind what you say I aint starting to shit myself I have done for the last 2 weeks, our squad is absolute garbage our starting 11 is ok. Lerner is a fool if he thinks we can survive again

He survived with arguably worse players at Norwich last season. Don't count out the mans ability to get average players playing good football.

Thats true, but he shouldnt have to, at least in my deluded world of Villa being a big club.

I think what is freaking me out is the return of this "sell to buy" vibe we are getting. Hopefully it is not true and we will get some more in before the window ends.

But if things stay as they are then Lambert will have signed the same number of players as McLeish did last summer window, and (I think) spending less money as well......

  12. I am sick and tired of us being linked with youngsters that are being touted as 1st team regulars there is no doubt they will come good in the end but no premier league experience and that is worth its wasit in gold, earier on some stated that he was supsrised that lerner is running villa on the cheap. I have some facts

a back 4 of LOWTON VLAAR CLARK CRESWELL- This is shit total shit all 4 are untested, if lerner is skint sell the club because I assure you all mess about again regardless who the manager is and we will go down we are weaker than last year no doubt we have a good start first 8 games then october november we have big 4.

In my honest opinion Lambert should of had 90% of his signings in asap because we need a new direction time to bond and settle in Lambert stating he is happy to go with what he has is very Ginger dicked esq he said that if you remember last year he.

Lerner hasnt lerned his lesson at all he is trying to run us like a business get with the programme RANDY it wont wotk

Let it out mate. I dont blame you. I think Lambert is a great manager but I am starting to shit myself over our squad. Over reaction? Probably, but we are justified after the past two years.

Just read this. Apparently the guy is pretty spot on with his info.

Thanks. I love the comments. Always had a soft spot for boro. They sound just like us, half want to kick him out of the club and half want their young player to stay and develop.

I was thinking the same thing

lol. I hope boro come up next season. Their fans are always good for a laff and some pretty funny chants.
