  1. Finally I find it hard to imagine a worse appointment than AML.

Mick McArthy, Neil Warnock & Neil Lennon spring to mind. Although most likely we would end up with a low mid table plodder like Bruce or Big Sam.

Dont mind me I am just going to go away and cry a bit now at just how low our ambition has become.

edit: Oh and I hate to say it, but at the end of the season his playing for small defeats kept our goal difference down which ended up being important.

  2. If Karl Henry is the answer... What was the question?

A limited scuffler even the Wolves fans don't want.

    Hopefully just speculation.

The only player worth considering from Wolves is Fletcher.

And Fletcher is a bit of a word removed. That Wolves squad is just terrible. Assembled with a decent budget as well, something overlooked by the press because they like Mick.

  3. I do wonder, what he would do differently if he could wind the clock back

Would he ship out the rotten apples in week 1

I'm pretty sure he would not have signed NZogbia or Jenas

To be fair to him NZogbia was a signing most of us were celebrating. I dont think McLiesh has done that bad a job with his signings. Its how he has set the team up which has been terrible.

  4. More & more journo's are using the word untenable now

Lerner/Faulkner must have watched Blackburn debacle last night & thought that is us next year

I do feel for McLeish though, he never stood a chance here

I feel bad for him as a man. But he really did have a good shot. He just didnt seem to have it in him to get even our first 11 playing well or dominating a game. I cant remember a single game this season when we were on top and dictating play, I am hard pressed to remember a game we had more possession.

But we shouldnt talk abut him int he past tense. He is still manager and Lerner has given zero indication he is likely to make a change.

  5. I would just like to say I didnt think we would get another point under him this season. I was wrong. I am happy we are safe. Even though it was a lucky one, a point is a point, good job Alex & team.

That said, WHY IS HE STILL HERE? Faulkner and Lerner both have stated what their aims were for this squad, faulkner said Europe this season, Mcliesh laid out better than 9th.

Below Wigan and nearly relegated is a complete failure for a manager who has been given this team and about twenty million quid in spending.

  6. he always seemed like a technical intelligent player to me. fitted perfectly with the modern game houllier was trying to develop. didnt fit in with the mud & run style mcleish prefers.

  7. I want him out before the Spurs game, failing that before the Norwich game.

    Two reasons

1.) He can take us down, so getting rid of him will give us a boost for the final games, possibly getting us a much needed point.

2.) Waiting until season end could end up with the board taking a "cooling off period" over the summer as they convince themselves he doesnt need to go and actually they made the right decision in hiring him.

He needs to go now, not later.

  8. Our Premier League fate lies in the hands of Man City. I really can't see us getting anymore points so as long as we don't let in a ridiculous amount of goals and Man City beat QPR then we'll stay up on goal difference. I'm still not too confident though as anything can happen in football but the point at West Brom and a few of the other results going for us has made me less worried. I hate it when we have to rely on other teams to get results though! I really can't wait for this shambles of a season to end.

Agreed. Unless Lerner makes the change its out of our hands for the last two games. I cant see where a goal is coming from , let alone a point.

I remain deeply concerned. Our relegation rivals have all shown spirit in recent games. We have not.

I hope in a few weeks this thread will be locked and I can look back and laugh at the idea of relegation. Its not funny now though, ut seems like a very real possibility.

  9. big mover from the bookies - Neil Lennon from nowhere to 10-1 - Gulp

    Interesting.

Would make our dance with Rangers/Celtic go an extra round.

Dont think he is good enough though imho. I think he would be an angry McLeish.

On the plus side he would happily tell Fergie or whoever to go **** themselves if they thought they could talk down to Villa.

  10. Im amazed at the Lambert love in. I hate the way Norwich play, counter attack football is not the way forward, it has its limitations which is why MON never did any better than 6th. Plus whenever I see his interviews he seems a right miserable git, I dont like him at all.

Martinez would be a a better choice or Quique Flores would be my 1st choice. Flores said he wanted the job last time road and Im sure we can tempt him away from El Kababi or whatever middle east team he is at now.

His missus was alright too if I remeber correctly, I know that has nothing to do with football but its a nice added extra

Sensible post. Obviously Lambert is better than McLiesh (bt who isnt) I dont see why the love in. Flores would be great.

  11. Last week Mcleish said "At least it is still in our own hands".

Yes it is, and will be until the last game of the season

Just a pity we still have to rely on others to help us.

He is right. We could still sack him before the Spurs game and get a boost going into the final two games.

  12. i agree, sack him now that we're safe so that we don't have another poisoned atmosphere at a home game again for a long time. it's in everyone's best interests. the fans, the players, the board and mcleish himself

well we can agree on this bit at least 8)

  13. How the hell can people be confident we will stay up? We were lucky to get a draw with WBA, yes lucky. With McLeish in charge the chance of us getting another win is very small, we should consider ourselves fortunate to get 1 point from Norwich.

Wigan and Bolton are now looking menacing and QPR's form is better than ours. The idea of any two of them putting together a mini run and overtaking us is not unlikely at all, they have good managers.

Dont get arrogant like Blues did last year. We can go down and have a high probability with McLeish than without.

He needs to be sacked NOW to give us a chance

if you're so adamant at looking at how much better qpr's form is than ours, it's worth noting that only man city have lost less games away from home than us this season - so we're probably fairly nailed on for a point at norwich

this "sack him now to give us a chance" stuff is ridiculous. you're going on about form, yet city have dropped a grand total of 2 points at their place. two points. over the whole season. and you're shitting yourself coz you think qpr who are dodgy as **** away will turn them over?

And you are sat there happily confident in McLeishes ability to get us points and avoid relegation.

This "give him till the end of the season" bollocks is ridiculous. Why? What do we gain?

He needs to be sacked now, not in a few weeks.

Get your head out of the sand, he is a shit manager (but a decent bloke) who is more than capable of relegating us. Why on earth would you want him in charge for one more game, let alone two.

  14. So Stan, when ARE fans allowed to say they disagree with the owners decisions? Before the appointment, the start of the season? mid season? or now at the end of the season when sacking Mcleish could keep us in the league?

Or are we all meant to sit there singing our pretty little songs regardless of the poor decisions made?

  16. As much as I want McLeish to go, sacking him at this point wouldn't make much sense but considering his appointment made just as much sense, I'm feeling optimistic but I'm not getting my hopes up, nothing good ever happens on a Monday.

There is a very big reason to sack him at this point. To give us a chance at winning one of our remaining two games. I am willing to bet the layers cat wait to actually PLAY for a change.

Sack him NOW Lerner before we go down and it really is too late.

  17. This is our final points total unless Lerner does the right thing and sacks mcliesh NOW to give us a boost.

If he keeps him for the last two games (and insane as it sounds it looks like he is) Then its pretty much out of our hands. All we can do is pray others fall down.

Norwich have let in 9 in their last 2 games at home, so I don't think Carrow Road is the fortress some think it is....

They could be Wolves mate and I still wouldnt bet on us getting anything.

Its us, not them. Unless we change manager immediately I see the same malaise hanging over the team for the final two games.

W cant change the players, the only thing we can do to change our trajectory is change the manager.

Astonishingly Lerner seems willing to watch hundreds of millions in investment get relegated because he is too stubborn to admit he made a mistake.

    Its his money I suppose.
