  1. Right now, he’s our second best central midfielder in an area we are very poor in if we’re honest.

Selling him would be one step closer to relegation.

This is coming from someone who doesn’t particularly rate Luiz all that highly.

  2. In order to improve our league position from last year, I thought we needed at least a CB, two CM’s and an ST in this window. The Carlos injury is a cruel blow, but it does look increasingly like we’re going to end up with Kamara being the only addition to the starting XI from last year.

The club is either sleepwalking into a bit of bother or they’re aware of it but just haven’t been able to get deals over the line due to financial constraints. Either way, with the way other clubs have strengthened this Summer, over a 38 game season, I can’t see us improving on 14th and dare I say it, we may be in for a relegation fight.

It’s been a very poor 6-12 months for the club on the pitch if I’m honest. Our transfer policy is a mess.

This will be a classic “well, we tried” situation but Gerrard will come out with some wank comment about how the players need to step up because him and his staff have prepared them enough now and it’s up to them to perform.

This is exactly what will happen.

Im absolutely flabbergasted we haven’t signed another central midfielder.

To be honest, a lot of it is probably down to the fact our squad is bloated and we as a club have absolutely no idea when the time is right to sell players. Often, we wait til the end of their contract or wait for them to be sidelined for an extended period of time before we look to move them on. That obviously means they either leave on a free, on loan, for a very small price or not at all.

For all the good that has happened over the last few years, I’d actually argue we’ve been fairly poorly run when it comes to the footballing side of things, especially given the money spent. I know that’s something a lot of people don’t like to hear but we’re a mess right now and that is inexcusable given the investment in the playing squad.

  4. While we're on the topic of Craig Dawson, he's actually a very competent player. Not sure he improves us, but I bet he's as good, if not better than Konsa and Chambers.

It's uninspiring and boring, but he's had a very good career actually.

Whilst I'd love Potter here, we have to be mindful that it's taken him a few years to get his team playing like they are. Last year they really struggled for goals, and he complained about the fans booing the team - I can't imaging the fans at VP being as patient as the Brighton fans if honest. He'll know that there will be a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders if the job was offered, but I think a long-term, cohesive playing style is just what we need. This team is crying out for good coaching and a tactically savvy management team. I don't believe we're seeing either at the moment.

Whilst he doesn't deserve it, I do think Gerrard will get the chance to take us through the next two or 3 games . However, mate or not, Purslow knows that it's his cock and cash on the block here - so I don't foresee him being overly sentimental.

Unless there's a miraculous upturn in results and performances, I really hope they don't leave it until the WC in November. There's an international break on the 24th September, which would be the latest time to make a change IMO. Now would be even better, mind you.

He should have gone yesterday, but whatever, they’ll probably allow him to lose the next two matches and we can sack him then. Best thing to do right now is to sack him, give it Critchley for two games and then look to bring someone in, in a couple of weeks time.

All this messing around is just delaying the inevitable. He is going to lose his job, because he’s completely incompetent at it.

  6. I believe he is a Liverpool fan so it’s not going to be easy sacking arguably their greatest ever player. He is going to have to do it though, it’s a matter of time so the sooner he grows a pair, the better.

Don’t want him sold one bit, but that said if we can get £45 mill  and then replace him with say Martin Terrier I would be alright. We need to bug low sell high - not buy high sell low.

We don’t buy high sell low.

We buy high loan to turkey paying their wages.

In the last few days we have had leaks to Miguel Delaney about players being underwhelmed with the lack of tactical instructions after Beale left, today it's Percy mentioning how bewildered the aquad is at Sanson's exclusion plus we have the Bailey situation brewing. Safe to say Gerrard has managed to make the dressing room as toxic as it has been since 16/17,

It’s a real feat. In fact, it’s probably the most success he’s had. Nice one, Stevie.

The fact that it’s written by Percy, probably the only genuine ITK regarding us, is all the more damming. I’m not saying the club approved it but I doubt Percy would want to upset the hierarchy too much. When trusted journalists write articles as critical as this one, it’s fair to say the end is near. Perhaps not as near as we’d like but close enough. Vote of confidence time?

I agree. Come here to write the very same thing. Percy has either been tipped to write this or he’s taking a very big risk in being one of the go to Journalists.

    Our situation stinks.

  10. Aren’t they about to have 100m burning a hole in their pocket?

If they can sign Bailey for £30m from us, it would be a good bit of business for them. For us, we don’t play with wingers so whatever really. We should play with wingers but our manager is a c*** so it makes sense for us to sell him.

This is a mess. A complete mess.

Personally, I think Bailey is good as a right winger. Selling him now for us to bring in a manager who plays with wingers would be prime Villa.

  11. If there is even the slightest hope of getting Potter in, we should be going all out for him. He is miles and miles ahead of our current manager - who knows, he may even take a few training sessions himself…

Every day that goes by with Gerrard is a day wasted. Sack him now, give it Critchley for a couple of weeks and then go all out for Potter in the meantime. I’m all for going for someone like Poch but I can’t see it myself. Potter is the man.

  12. I thought he was one of our better players yesterday. He’s not the problem, far from it.

Play him in a better system with a better central midfield behind him and he’ll be good for us.

  13. He actually did something right yesterday. He partnered Luiz with Kamara and both played a little deeper which meant we controlled the game more and the opposition team couldn’t run straight through us. It was an obvious change we’ve all been crying out for all season. I think Luiz and Kamara work well together in that double pivot.

That is the only thing he got right. The formation sucks, whether it be a 4231 or a 4321 and he has absolutely no idea why. I’m pretty sure he gets up in the morning on matchday and rolls a dice as to whether he’ll play two 10’s or two strikers. Neither system works really. Yesterday, when we’d lost control of the game after 60 mins and West Ham were getting a foothold in the game, he needed to keep Luiz and Kamara together and bring on either Ramsey, Nakamba or Irroegbunam in place of McGinn to sure up the central midfield area and then take off one of the strikers and bring either Bailey or Buendia on. This would have resulted in us playing a 4-3-3 with Buendia playing off the left and Bailey off the right. The Coutinho injury changed things a little but that’s not really an excuse. Instead, he takes Luiz off, an absolutely laughable decision and keeps McGinn on. Go and watch the goal back and look at McGinn standing off the player allowing him to shoot. It’s embarrassing. He’d already almost cost us a goal with that daft turn and slip,

It’s these little things that cost teams matches. Sometimes they’re unfortunate but Gerrard consistently makes the wrong decisions both in the team selection and during the game. We have absolutely no identity or style of play, it’s just - push the full backs up as high as possible and hope for the best.

His decision to take the captaincy off Mings and give it to McGinn was a sackable offence in its own right and all of the noises coming from the club point to an unhappy playing squad, which isn’t at all surprising given they’re thrown under a bus after each match.

He’s an absolute disaster of a manager and he needs to go. He’s embarrassing us and he’s embarrassing himself. If we don’t act, we’ll be relegated.

Stood there when fornals walked past him to score the winner, sick of seeing this lump play for us

This isn’t being spoken about enough. His positioning for their goal is criminal and he does nothing when Fornals picks the ball up either.

I’m at a loss as to what to say with McGinn now. Ive said it all already.
