  1. I would love to see Ireland perform for Villa though I really don't think it helped that Houllier called him out in public, you just don't do that as a manager. You sit down with the player and talk it through. I mean had that not happened and he had got a few more games he could have really shined. Much of the time when watching him Ireland looked frustrated as Gabby just wasn't intelligent enough to read his passing, maybe Bent is a bit smarter..

    ^This^

Houllier treated some of our players poorly and showed them a lack of respect.

Stephen Ireland doesnt deserve any respect. He hasnt played well for nearly 3 years and sat on his arse collecting £60-£80k a week

He is such a lazy tosser he retired from internatioanl football at 22, and I forget how many times his grandmother has supposed to have died

I agree with what Houllier did, lets not forget Ireland had not played well for nearly two years and he has a massive ego.

Why pay somebody £60k a week when they dont try.

Houllier did give Ireland opportunities and he didnt take them. Its his own fault he just a tosser

  3. I think he will do a good job, yes. But I always like to live my life looking at things optimistically and giving people a chance, rather that willing them to **** it up just so I can say "told you so".

Good for you! If only we could live in your world

To be fair I think RL was looking through your rose-tinted specs when he surveyed AM's appalling CV.

Back here on planet earth I would like nothing better than see Villa doing well under McLeish but I don't think that will happen. Very happy if he proves me wrong - I'll be the first on here to apologise. But don't hold your breath

Look forward to next season - "The Battle for 10th"

I think he lied on his CV. Is there anyway we can stop him on a technicality.

I dont know maybe he didnt really get O-Level Maths or something like that?

  4. You would have thought there would have been confirmation to put this ALL to bed by now surely??!!

Strange when SSN have just claimed that talks were done and dusted last night between him and Randy Lerner and that sources said

he's agreed a 3 year deal.... NO more talks between him and Randy Lerner today because it was all done and dusted last night.

    That was quick!

In fact didn't I read in the newspapers that McCleish has gone back to his family on holiday in Sardinia. Strange one

that, surely they'd need to get their heads around which players they need and maybe working on transfer targets...

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but there is definitely something not right with all this! It's nearly 7pm and Villa have

had ALL day to put something official on the OS.

They know the fans need clarification once and for all of matters so we can all put this to bed and move on.

Either they have become completely incompetent, which granted maybe the case or dare I think otherwise?

I honestly think that behind the scenes at VP it is total chaos. I dont think anybody has any idea what to do anymore.

I think they have all pressed the panic button and it is a total shambles.

  5. Just on the mcleish being ex-blues i feel thats a bit part thing to the argument like most fans have been saying it is mostly due to his poor record.

But to be far to Mcleish this is a maasive club to come to so he is hardly going to reject it is he main blame has to go to randy and faulkner (failer)

Maybe so but don't forget he has managed a club that is 'larger' than us.

    Did he?

    Rangers???

That massive scottish team who have one opponent every season

Lets face it all they had do do was beat Celtic and he lost 7 derbies in a row and went on an 11 game streak of not winning before being sacked. 11 games in the Scotish prem with Rangers!!!!!!!!!

If you cant win in 11 with Celtic or Rangers then you must be shit

  6. Aston Villa are a bigger club that to be hiring Alex McLeish..

Its got to the stage where we are all trying to now convince ourselves he is a good guy..

This is a sh_t appointmant make no mistakes..

Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal would not accept McLeish.

of course they wouldn't which ever way you look at it they are bigger clubs than us, unfortunately.
Spurs aren't bigger than us. They are however in a better position.

We can AND HAVE matched the spending power of thjose clubs since Lerner came to Villa.. With the RIGHT manager we could finish higher than them. Its about having the right guy to bring in the right players.. On that sense we are too big fro Alex McLeish.. No chance can he bring in the likes of Cissokho, M'Villa for example.

Massive mistake by the board.. Its yet again another manager that will have to offer top dollar in wages to attract good players to the club..

I dont think we will spend that much in the summer :(

  7. I really hope that Quique Flores is the next manager of Villa... Then you'll see the sister of Miklos Féher on VP.

    Orsi Féher :notworthy:

according to the mirror we blanked him... horrific i know...

    BOOOOO :x

No Premier League experience because manging Valancia, Benfica and Athletico Madrid and winning trophies just isnt good enough :bang::bang::bang:

    Orsi Féher :notworthy:

according to the mirror we blanked him... horrific i know...

I read that, if its true it sounded like he was really keen :?

Epic Fail not talking to him Epic on a huge scale

  9. Good luck to those who are big enough to see some form of positives, or more likely are resigned to the fact that there is nothing we can do.

I wish I could be like that, but as much as I support this club, the appointment of McLeish feels like we are running a white flag up the pole of the top four. We have failed and now the agenda is totally differant, we are no longer anything more than a team hoping for the UEFA Cup place and maybe a good cup run.

    Very, very sad day.

And would we really have a go in the UEFA cup if we made it :?

  10. Right, I'm just going to throw this out there...

    * The club announcement will be to state the search for a new manager is ongoing

    * David Moyes / Flores / Ranieri will be interviewed over the weekend

    * New manager will be announced Wednesday next week

Apparently Flores really really wants the job. If that actually is the case then it surely would be a no brainer :?

    Im still hoping and praying

  11. What a complete crock of shit..

Oh well, that has save me in the region of £2.5k this season..

    £80 petrol per match

    £40 x 2 per match

    Shirts x 2

    Various merchandise

    Balti pies x 20

will save me a fortune too. Think I might go and watch Sutton Town next year it's only down the road 8)

  12. if he doesnt prove up to it then he will be replaced.

my fear is another farce like this summer again in 12 months time

if that happens the club is screwed on all fronts

we desperately need mcleish to surprise everyone

I'm hoping he suprises me and changes his mind and buggers off back to Scotland 8)

  13. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation as to why Martin Jol was ignored and let go to Fulham? He has Prem experience - with a much bigger club than B'ham City - and has achieved two successive 5th place finishes in the Prem.

    I find it totally baffling.

Trust me, you can't be as baffled as us Villa fans. :(

Nearly as baffling as this if it's true

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Aston-Villa-news-Quique-Sanchez-Flores-who-lead-Atletico-Madrid-to-Europa-League-triumph-2010-wants-job-if-fan-anger-keeps-Alex-McLeish-out-article747872.html

  14. Perhaps it will be a good thing, as people have said, the defence will be solid (especially if he brings Scott Dann with him) Obiviously RL is going to back him in the market (i think to try and win fans round), maybe Mcleish can do something decent with money, and a good solid team to work with.

Dann will go to a bigger club.

Lerner will not back him we will have the same squad virtually.

It's going to be an epic fail

  15. im going to go totally radio rental if we end up with that bluenose tosser! Christ on a bike look at the way blues play football. 4-5-1 this is the same man that bought Zigic who is the worst footballer i have ever seen. If randy appoints him then he has lost all respect from me.

  16. Van Gaal might be open to us, he didn't see AZ Alkmaar as below him.

But Randy will see the lack of premier league experience and think no way. Personally I think its a good thing but Champions League winner trumps Premier League experience.

    Van Gaal's C.V ( I think it speaks for itself! )

  17. Van Gaal might be open to us, he didn't see AZ Alkmaar as below him.

That is exactly what I said about 100 pages ago on this thread, most people thought I had gone nuts for some reason.

He didnt spend millions there at AZ and won the league and look at the Ajax side he built with academy players.

This guy seriously knows his shit :thumb:

  18. Everybody seems to forget how Bolton completly bombed down the table and got spanked in the semi final

This.. they looked out of depth, he looked out of depth.. he looked clueless when they got spanked in semi final... no plan B.. nothing, no thanks to Coyle.

Thank God I am not the only one who thinks Coyle isnt good enough :D
