I can't be bothered to rate the players. i have seen enough of villa this season to know my fears have been confirmed. the football is dire the manager is shit and his signings apart from given are crap . if it want for given we would have lost three times. we have played nobody decent this season we are bottom six material. nzogbia is one of the worst players i have seen in a villa shirt for a long time
-
Being totally outclassed by newcastle at home. deiph and nzogbia are **** useless
-
Would make a great LB in place of Warnock..
Im still trying to work out his strengths and what he brings to the table as a midfielder..
He had 1 decent sub appearance at left back, then we started a game with him at left back and he was **** useless and got taken off.
Delph is not a left back in the slightest.
I like yourself cannot work out what he brings to the middle either, not alot is what I actually think.
-
I saw him play a few times for Leeds on TV and always thought he looked a bit crap, so I really didn't get the excitement over his signing.I always thought Delph was a swashbuckling, dribbling and long range shooting midfielder at Leeds??? What happened to him??That was in league 1 against the likes of Yeovil and Walsall
Most of you could and still can see something in him I can't, 'you must be blind' a prominent poster on here once told me. I really really hope he comes good, I never revel in negative predictions.
Im with you on that one, never understood what all the fuss was about when we signed him.
-
Don't think he's been nearly as bad as some of the drama queens on here would have you believe. But I suppose if you have very little in your life then you have to find something to moan about!
by no means our worst player, he has had one bad game so far. Delph has had 3 crap ones and Nzogbia has a full house of 4 crap ones and if Im honest I thought Hutton was about as cack as Warnock against Everton
-
The problem is with Zog is that he was expected to be our shining light before he even kicked a ball.
We've seen our 2 most creative, if not best, players leave and be replaced with the Zog. People are always going to expect him to hit the ground running and to light up the league like our former players are doing at their new clubs.
He'll be a decent player, but I'm afraid that'll be about it, dont think he's suddebly goign to turn into world class, and therefore will probably be labelled a flop as a result.
For a french international who cost nearly £10m he should be playing better than he is

I think Petrov is a good player and so far this season he has been our best midfielder by far.
Houlliers biggest mistake was leaving him out and its no coinsidence that when Petrov plays we actually get better results than when he is not in the team.

I agree with most on here.
Picking up the points is OK at the moment, but these draws need to be turned into a couple of wins. 6 points in 4 games is steady. After 8 games there is a hell of a lot of diffence between 12 points (with mostly draws) 16 points (as with 3 wins and 1 draw).
One will put us in the bottom 6, the worries start and a relegation fight is on the cards. One puts us in the top 6, on cloud 9 and dreaming of what can be - thus the confidence has a huge factor.
Now onto this, Heskey has been OK - nowt more, nowt less - he has contributed to keeping us tight, its no coincidence that as soon as he went off, we conceded. But it's time to think about winning games, not, not losing them. On paper, Fulham and Everton away are tough, and although anyone including Burton Albion should beat Blackburn, Wolves for us (local derby) is also tough.
But now its time to give Bent some service, and for that, you need two of Albrighton, Bannan, Jenas and Ireland in the team. Giving that Jenas is injured and you would think when fit, will replace a woefully out of form Delph, then at the moment you've gotta say Ireland or Bannan must start.
Personally, I'd like to see Ireland given a start against Newcastle and Bolton - maybe withdrawing him if we are comfortable for Bannan in both second half.
We have to see what he can do. As someone said - he is the key to our demise over the last year - and if he isnt going to do it, he needs shipping out and replacing. The only way to see that is to give him a go - if he is crap - put Bannan on - simple, and say "thanks, but no thanks"
Spot on post 8)
Petrov, Bannan, Ireland should be the midfiled 3 in the next match and Allbrighton should start ahead of Nzogbia who like Fabian Delph has bought nothing to the team so far unfortunatly
-
-----------------------------Given
Hutton-----------Collins----------Dunne-----------Warnock
----------------------------Petrov
--------------Bannan---------------Ireland
Zoggy---------------------Bent----------------------Gabby
I'd like to see something like the above or this.
I would have the same team apart from Nzogbia, Id give Allbrighton a run out as I dont think Nzogbia deserves to start, he has been very very poor so far this season. Shame Jenas is out for two weeks but we should give Bannan a start as he played well for Scotland and Delph has added little or nothing in the midfiled so far
----------------------------Given-----------------------------
Hutton-----------Collins----------Dunne-----------Warnock
----------------------------Petrov-----------------------------

Allbrighton----------------Bent------------------------Gabby

I think it's time we gave Ireland a run in the team.
I have a feeling it may be Jenas, Petrov and Ireland against Newcastle.
I hope you are right
-
Ues you were vocal. But i was dissapointed. Villa like us are a big club. But only bring 1600 was poor.not selling any seats in the upper.
Why?
the club did not take the extra allocation of the upper tier, we sold out in advance the initial allocation

Really? I know four spurs season ticket holders and they all say he cant defend at all. Time will tell i suppose. Felt a bit sorry for Herd today as i felt he did well enough against wolves to keep his placeHutton has always been good for Spurs according to a few of my mates who are fans of the club. -
What? He was decent against blackburn mainly due to then being rubbish and he was poor in every other game and is getting worse each game. He did nothing against wolves and was dreadful today. For me Delph and Nzogbia should be left out of the next game. Petrov should be the one holding player, Jenas the box to box player and Ireland should be the advanced playmaker. Delph adds nothing in the middle at all in my opinionBit scrappy from FD today but overall he's had a very good start to the season -
Nzogbia has never been a crosser of the ball thats the problem. Both Young and Downing put over 120 more crosses in the box each last season than Nzogbia. He tends to dribble with the ball alot more. I think our french curse has struck again. Didier Six, David Ginola, Mathieu Berson, Robert Pires and now Charles Nzogbia. There is a recurring theme with this lot .......I want to see him wide and putting balls in the box, it'll come in time but right now he's frustrating to watch. -
Thought Given and Dunne were excellent today. God knows how we got a point though and I must say I am dreading when we play Citeh or Manure
Thought the whole team was poor today apart from the two mentioned, Warnock was bad today but has been good all season so wont give him too much grief.
My worry is Nzogbia who continues to look nowhere near good enough to replace Downing or Young.
I have said it all season and will say it again, Fabian Delph in the middle why?????? I dont get people raving about him as I thought he was poor again today as he was against Wolves and Fulham, I think Jenas is straight in to be honest.
My biggest gripe is the way we set up so negativley, we should have gone out and gone for Everton today, they have no strikers, have sold their best player and the fans have turned on the owner but Eck set out not to lose rather than to win. Pathetic we should have gone for them today but didnt and that is the main reason why I find it hard to get behind McLeish.
-
where the **** did that come from
-
The moaning in here
Have you been watching this
-
Where was Hutton anyway? He should be defending against Baines on that side not Bannan.
Thats his problem ask any spurs fan and they will say if he could defend he would be a good full back
-
I've never seen anything in Delph anyway. Bring on Clark and allow Bannan to play the role Delph has been brought in for.
Have Clark holding and have Bannan and Ireland (may as well give him a go) further up in the middle. Tak off Delph and Petrov
Id go with that idea.
Doubt there will be any changes at all though
-
Awful first half, but thankfully the scoreline is not out of sight. Let's see what Big 'Eck can conjure up in his team talk!
If he has any bollocks he will go 4-4-2 and take off NZogbia off and have a go.
I fear he is more likely to take Bent off for Herd or something dull like that.
-
not looking forward to having to watch this every week. we are playing exactly like blues did under eck
Unfortunately, I think your right. We may as well loan Bent out like we did Makoun if were gonna play like this!!!
The negativity Im trying to avoid of MaCleish is coming true!!
And the board wonder why the gates are down by 8000!! His tactics are shit
-
This is the problem with Ecks defensive dull dont concede a goal approach with two deep lying midfileders. Get off to a bollocks start and its game over, will he change it??? will he ****! I cant watch much more of this I might go to the pub lol.
Pretty sure Darren Bent is thinking the same thing too
-
Would have liked to have seen if Houllier could have sorted out the defensive problems as that was his only downfall. Lets not forget we lost more points from a winning position than any other team last year. If the defence was solid I reckon we would have made top 6 again.
I think GH would have got rid of Collins, Dunne, Beye and Warnock and we would have a totally new defence but its all ifs and buts. Now we have Eck so we have 2 deep lying midfielders and no supply to Darren Bent, I cant believe we didnt give him an opportunty until the 83rd minute against Wolves, says it all really
