  1. I'm warming to the idea of Rijkaard if it was a big part of his remit to get us to play like barca (from the youth) he could give us the inside track.

still think van Gaal would be better at that after what he did at Ajax.

I agree Rijkaard is good, everyone says he bombed in Turkey but he only lost 11 games with Galatasary and had a 60% win ratio

I wouldnt mind that one bit 8)

  2. Betting via Skybet

    ■Mark Hughes – 5/4 (Whats he done?)

    ■David Moyes – 3/1 (Great Signing)

    ■Owen Coyle – 5/1 (Great Signing)

■Steve McClaren – 6/1 (Wally with the brolly)

■Alex McLeish – 10/1 (Never after he has been to both rangers and sha)

    ■Rafael Benitez – 10/1 (FSW)

■Claudio Ranieri – 10/1 (Would do what Randy wants)

    ■Alan Curbishley – 16/1 (No)

    ■Carlo Ancelotti – 16/1 (Taking a year off)

■Frank Rijkaard -20/1 (Couldnt win nothing at galatasary anyone can win with Barca)

    ■Martin O’Neill – 20/1 ( After what he did NO)

■Steve Bruce – 28/1 (Would'nt play the style off footie we want)

■Roberto Martinez – 33/1( He is staying at wigan)

    ■Gary McAllister – 33/1 ( ?????? Not for me)

    ■Walter Smith – 33/1 (Did great at rangers but i wouldn't)

■Kevin MacDonald – 33/1 (Never done much when caretaker)

Can you explain what the hell Owen Coyle has ever done apart from get Burnley promoted ????

My exact thoughts. Why do people seem to love Owen Coyle but have utter disdain for any prospect of Hughes or Martinez (ok the latter has obviously said no) taking over? Coyle did well at Burnley of course and hasn't done badly at Bolton (though his achievements have been overplayed when you look at their final league position), but look what Hughes did at Blackburn.

Give him a break, he'd be a good appointment on so many levels:

    - Experience playing and managing at this level.

    - Getting the best out of players that look like lost-causes (Ireland a prime example, even Sidwell).

    - Stability: wherever he has gone he has built and improved season upon season.

Everybody seems to forget how Bolton completly bombed down the table and got spanked in the semi final

Got Boring bolton playing some good football???

Plus if you going on trophies what has half of that list done

The same Bolton that he got up to 6th and then who bombed in the second half of the season losing 7 of the last 9 games and getting whacked for 5 in the cup semi final??

    No thanks

  4. ■Frank Rijkaard -20/1 (Couldnt win nothing at galatasary anyone can win with Barca)

Sorry L6 but he pushed Galatasary back up to the right end of the table.

The youth he pushed there and at Barca was good too.

    Tight Budget at Galatasary.

Is, like it or not, a big football name and can get good players attracted to any team he manages.

I have posted this before but Rijkaards record at Galatasary was PL 58 W35 D12 L11

    aint too bad

  6. Just a quick summary, we obviously sent out letters to a lot of clubs within the premiership.

Arsenal - Wenger - Hardly sent a letter

Birmingham - McLeish - Could well have sent a letter

    Blackburn - Kean - Hope we didn't.

    Blackpool - Holloway - Hope we didn't.

Bolton - Coyle - Could well have enquired.

    Chelsea - ? -

Everton - Moyes - More than likely enquired.

    Fulham - Hughes/Jol - Probably didn't.

Liverpool - Kenny - Most definitely did not.

Man City - Mancini - Most definitely did not.

Man Utd - Fergie - Most definitely did not.

Norwich - Lambert - Could well have.

    Newcastle - Pardew - Pray we didn't.

QPR - Warnock - Unlikely we enquired.

    Stoke - Pulis - Possibly.

Sunderland - Bruce - Possibly but unlikely.

    Swansea - Rodgers - Unlikely.

Tottenham - Redknapp - Highly unlikely.

WBA - Hodgson - Possibly but unlikely.

West Ham - Allardyce - Highly unlikely.

    Wigan - Martinez - Enquired.

Wolves - MacCarthy - Could have but hope not.

Does anyone think there's like a bit of teasing going on between the managers who got a letter and those who didn't?

Realistcally we should have only sent one letter out and that should have been to Moyes.

I wouldnt bother with any of the others and obviously you wouldnt bother writing to any of the top six

  7. Louis-van-gaal.jpg

    PLEASE 8)

He needs a haircut now too.

Nah its fine, you'd never get tired of laughing at it

Best coach in the world at the moment along with SAF and Jose. And unemployed

Maybe we could entice him with some sort of hair product endorsement!

It might work a bit better than sending a letter

  8. Just chatting to an Evertonian and he seems convinced we're still in debt, is this true? (on topic because i'm talking to him about Moyes & how we have nothing to offer him in the way of signing players).

Yup AVFC are in debt, somewhere around £200 million I believe.

The debt is owed to "The Lerner Familly Trust Fund"

I wonder who sits on the board of that then?

    Doug

  9. I see the words "shambles" and "farce" have reared their ugly heads again but have people not stopped to think that none of this would be out in the open had it not been for loudmouth Dave Whelan?

We should not have even bothered requesting speaking to him in the 1st place!!!!!!!

  10. Im totally baffled as to what his qualities were to be held in such high regard if I'm honest???

Christ on a bike!!!! Who makes these manger short lists at Villa Park. I agree with the bit that he is young but that is the only part I agree with

  11. There are plenty of good mangers out there.....

Hitzfeld, van Gaal, Ranieri, Rijkaard, van Basten to name a few.

Then there is Hughes, Pellegrini, McClaren (god forbid).

We will probably end up with the Gmac Kmac combination lol

  12. We seem to be making a dogs breakfast of the managerial appointment again. Just like we did last year

Why, because its not the manager YOU want?

No, I would say it's because he is a poor candidate and if thats our intent then the club is going backwards

  13. With him, yes but not with the supporters who pay money to the club - its becoming a laughing stock.

Which supporters are you supposedly speaking on behalf of? You don't speak for me, and from the comments on this forum it seems you don't speak for the majority of others either...

The Browns fans as well who are disgruntled with Lerner.

You speak on behalf of the Browns fans?????

The Browns fans hate him with a passion. They wanted rid of him last season, oddly enough they are critical of his decision making when it comes to appointing head coaches.

  14. i know people want us to be more ruthless, but i really like hearing people like Whealan coming out and praising us for doing things the right way (this despite us trying to nick their manager)

i think its the right way to do things and although you might miss out on the odd deal, in the long run it will pay dividends as other clubs / managers will be happy to do buisness with us. Piss them off, try going behind clubs backs and talking to people without the clubs permission might get you the signing, but also means the club youve judas'd wont want to deal with you ever again or at the least will try to stiff you on the price next time you come knocking for one of their players.

In the murky scum bag ridden world of modern football, im immensley proud we have one of the few chairman who seems to carry out his dealings with the greatest amount of integrity and respect.

Yeah its nice that we do things the right way, its just a shame we are not speaking to the right person for the job!
