I’m also interested in the pedestrianisation of Witton Lane (I’ll be honest, I’m dead against it). It says from Traffic Island down to the stand, does that include the length of the stand, or just up to the stand? If it’s including the length of the stand, where will the traffic go? I guess it gives an indication of whether they’re able to rebuild the Witton Lane Stand, too, as if there’s no road then there’s much more space to expand than before.

Back to the good old days of the Holte End - the right side!, the left side!
PS I was always left side

Why do we actually need a star on the badge?
I know it represents we won the European Cup but so what, Liverpool have won it 6 times but there are no stars on their badge, no stars on Chelsea or Man United's either, other than when they are playing in European competition I think.
There is only Villa and Forest who feel the need to incorporate a star into their club badge to represent European success, which to me is a little small time.
We sing about winning the European Cup about 5-6 times a game so I think people know we won it once upon a time, I'm not trying to demean the European Cup win as it was the greatest night in our history and I'm actually an old fart who remembers watching us win it.
As for the new crest I really don't mind as long as there is a rampant lion in there somewhere, not like the Henson kit that just had AVFC on it.

I was 11 at the time but vividly remember sitting in the living room with my dad (now sadly an HEITS) and watching the final on TV, and both of us jumping around like fools when the goal went in and again at the final whistle.
One memory i do have, and time plays tricks on the memory, so I'm hoping someone can confirm this - but there was an advert after the game where Davenports congratulated the Villa on winning the European Cup.

How many stands are sponsored in the league? I know of stadiums sponsored, but can't think of individual stands?

This one always springs to mind for some reason, don't know why

They obviously want a top 4 club, with top 4 training ground and facilites , top 4 staff a top 4 academy full to the brim of the outstanding talents in the west midlands and to expand an iconic stadium in a thoughtful way.
And we are in midtable . They will not accept 2nd best while understanding that you cannot just buy players you want anymore.
Not being pedantic - but if they won't accept 2nd best why would they want top 4 and not top 1

On a positive note.
Our coach escort away from the ground provided by Leicester motorbike police was first class.

turns some of those wins into draws though we'd be right in the shit
Turn some of those losses into draws and we'd be comfortably in the top half
Games that spring instantly to mind:
Wolves Home (winning and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory)
Brentford Away (winning and threw it away)
Newcastle Away (goal disallowed after VAR took 5 minutes to decide it was a clear and obvious mistake by the ref)
Liverpool Away (dodgy penalty decision)- 3

Absolute legend and what a home shirt that is!
So simple but a real beauty - would love the club to replicate it in the future.
I think they did with this one

Heard on WM that Villa are the only Premier League team not to have an away draw this season.............this game is definitely odds on draw for me now!

I was a Holte End season ticket holder when it was last a terrace and became a stand. In my mind there was a seamless transition from one to the other and I stood on the terrace at the end of the 93-94 season and then took up my seat in the Holte Upper the next. This cannot have happened! I have no memory of what I did in the interim and I definitely didn’t miss any games. I must have sat elsewhere for a while yet if you’d have asked me before I read your post I would have sworn that the only time in the 90s that I sat elsewhere in the ground was for a Euro 96 game and a couple of testimonials/friendlies. Where did most Holte Enders go whilst it was being rebuilt?
Think this answers a few queries!

I was also a Holte End season ticket holder back then and if I remember correctly the away fans allocation was reduced and they were moved to the corner of the Witton Lane (Doug Ellis). I had to sit in the lower North Stand until the Holte End was rebuilt - I had my season ticket in the upper Holte so had to wait longer for it to open.

Because I'm not PC savvy, and I spent ages trying to link this, I see Aston_Villan4 has beat me too it. Aplogies all involved
Although this is a video if any one is that way inclined, or has 28 seconds spare.

Heard a rumour that the game is in doubt and may be postponed.
.............All 4 of Manchester United's match officials have tested positive for Covid

The more I see of this lad the more he reminds me of a young Stan Collymore, his build, the way he runs with the ball, hold up play.
Hopefully he develops like the early Stan and not the older Stan

someone said it last week
20/21 season aston villa's jack grealish 3 games 3 goals 3 assists made the squad thanks to injuries and made 1 sub appearance
21/22 season man citys jack grealish 4 games 1 goal 1 assist made the squad starts 2 games 1 sub appearance
if its not top club bias then its the FA seeing a poster boy and money spinner which is just as bad
It's not just Grealish that now has SL6 bias.
Haven't got the stats to hand but the second half of last season Jesse Lingard was on fire for West Ham and couldn't even make the Euros squad.
3 months later, and 4 PL minutes on the pitch for Man Utd this season, and he's not only in the squad but starting games.

I'm sure I read or heard somewhere that the reason all the players fists are clenched is that the artist couldn't draw fingers very well. Maybe a myth but still a nice story.
