    Cool Brands?

Risso just goes on the uncool list :-) Personally I just buy stuff if I need it or like it .. Can't say I'm fussed about if it's cool or not... Which makes me cool ..doesn't it :-)
  2. fixed but The proposed forging capacity wasn't t required if you used Candu reactors. (China just constructed two this way) it's EDF who will be deciding who gets what orders , Forgemasters have no guarantee that they would win any orders and if it was such a good deal then it could have been financed elsewhere
  3. nope I've only been talking about speeds in relation to Motorways in this thread there was a brief diversion caused by a boy running out in the road to get away from his local priest or something but motorways it is
  4. Cough Check the title of the thread cough i swear you just post things without reading them :-)
  5. did you read it before quoting it :winkold: I actually said " didn't they interview a taxi driver once mistaking him for an IT expert" .. and as it turns out they did .. he was there for a job interview and ended up live on air being asked 3 questions about Apple remind me not to drive fast past you on the motorway you probably wont be able to see me properly :winkold:
  6. probably trying to avoid little Johnny playing on the hard shoulder
  7. reminds me now ..didn't they interview a taxi driver once mistaking him for an IT expert :-) I wonder if Ian and Peter think that his views are now the views of all IT experts
  8. you put it down to "Luck" as i recall luck , fate .. same difference ?
  9. and maybe an ID card whilst we are at it as everyone knows they also prevent crime :-)
  10. is it ? the title was Motorways and as far as I am aware nobody on this thread has mentioned anything about driving in residential zones at break necks speeds .. the "for" camp have been talking about motorways ... I think the against camp are guilty of making a few assumption as I'm fairly sure it hasn't been said Edit .. had a look back and you brought up little Johnny and i even replied a while later to stress I was talking motorways ... think little Johhny has a lot to answer for in derailing the thread :-)
  11. well yes actually I suppose if we use your (and Peters) logic , we could ask if your views posted on here reflect the views of IBM ..or are they in fact the views of someone who just happens to work for IBM ..and that IBM has zero relevance to the matter You buy shares ... does that make you a Trader ..or a bloke who buys shares I used to play tennis ..did that make me a tennis player ..or a bloke who played tennis and so on of course you won't get it but no matter how much you want him to he aint a trader
  12. but that guy isn't a Trader .. he is a bloke who happens to buy and sell shares ...his views are irrelevant really
  13. maybe certain events occur much the way the laws of physics prescribes that certain events occur and luck has nothing to do with it Maybe had they been going 5 mph slower the kid that leaps out into the road behind them would have copped it ..so by going faster they avoided him ?? Thats a joke...right? :? no ...the drink driving stat one was in case you missed it but this post was perfectly serious I'm just using the same flawed logic that you are At 10:25 fate decrees that little Johnny is going to jump out in the road for some reason and X marks the spot ... at 10:25 at 30 mph you will be at point X , at 10:25 at 35mph you are going to be at X+ Y
  14. couldn't agree more it's the same with drink driving .. 1 in 6 deaths on the road are down to drink drivers , so that means 5 of them are caused by people who are sober Do me a favour Tony...find out how many of those remaining 5 deaths were due to speeding. ignoring my facetious post for a second Only one in every 20 road accidents is caused by the driver breaking the speed limit, the Government has admitted. guess you can view that stat how you like Accidents were far more likely to be caused by drivers failing to pay attention and making mistakes, or pedestrians not looking properly.

  17. totally agree ..I Watched tomorrow Never dies as it was on tv the other day , had bloody adverts for "Carver Media " placed throughout the whole film ..totally ruined it for me but seriously even bonds remote controlled BMW is filmed so that you can see "Nokia" in the picture every time he does anything to the car .. product placement is really annoying
  18. agreed ..Champagne is horrid French stuff and should be outlawed
  19. think the point is he is aware of his surroundings and acts accordingly on my way home from work I come down a hill and then turn left .. quite often there are kids coming down the hill on bikes on the FOOTPATH it's covered with bushes and has a bit of a blind spot ... you can anticipate the fact that they are not going to stop at the junction and keep going straight across the road without even looking and so I don't turn left straight away because I've seen them clocked them and anticipated what they are going to do Someone mentioned over confidence in their ability but I've been driving 24 years probably well over half a million miles .. I've had one accident and that was when a swerved to avoid killing a dog that ran in the dual carriage way (I was inside the speed limit fwiw) ... so I don't accept that it it can really called over confidence .. you don't pick up a guitar for the first time and attempt stairway to heaven , no you start with something so easy a 2 year old could play it ..so once you've mastered Queens entire catalogue you then set your sights a bit higher don't you ..and driving a car is no different ..
  20. I'm talking Motorways here not doing 80 through a 30 zone little johnny is perfectly safe from me so he can sleep easy
  21. hold on there .. so far you are in the minority ... not that mob rules or anything but that would suggest the delusion is either contagious or not so delusional after all !! It's one of the most contagious things in the world. Bolstered by TV programs, films, car advertising and bar room boasting. There must be better uses for testosterone. maybe to a 20 year old but personally I don't drive fast just so I can go down the pub to tell people about it , nor do i feel I have to race Mr. teen in his mums car at the lights either ... I drive fast mainly because my car and myself happen to be able to do so safely .. I think you'd be hard pushed to find a TV car advert based around speed , predominantly car adverts focus nowadays on safety ,how green they are and how fit a supermodel you will pull if you drive their car , don't they ?

  23. see my post above ..guess i may not be alone in my "flawed" logic then :-)
  24. thing is I've always sped .. I'd argue I'm a better driver on the road as a result of it as I'm constantly monitoring the road in the knowledge that A) plod will nick me and if i crash at high speed i'll be in deep shit ... I'm watching the road , I'm aware of what is up ahead and what is going along behind and around me ..you almost know when a car is going to pull out on you without awareness that you are even there ..and you are ready to react the problem isn't speed ..it is with drivers that have no awareness of their whereabouts who pull out without checking their mirrors ..or the ones who think just because they put their indicator on that means they can change lane without looking .. I'm sure it will be argued I'm working on flawed logic but touch wood I've been Ok so far ...
  25. or maybe we could have let the banks fail and saved £850 BN ? could probably have paid back savings to investors and and paid off everyone in Britains mortgages with that amount ?
