  1. Disagree with the right manager and 2 or 3 good additions we are as good as Newcastle, arguably better Are you for real or just a troll What ? Newcastle are a perfect example of players overachieving due to great management and 2 or 3 quality additions With the correct appointment and a couple of quality players in we can replicate this I too have to disagree with this. Better manager, by far, but if we are brutally honest Newcastle now have a far superior squad to ours. With out listing player for player, there are not many of ours that i would replace for Newcastles, including our two best performers Given and Ireland. I know some have mentioned Benitez but i don't think we stand a chance. I remeber listening to a 5 live interview and it was an Italian pundit, who is apparently friends with Benitez, who stated that we approached him last summer but he was not be willing to work under the circumstance that Villa offered. I think the therm he used was 'being asked to work with his hands tied behind his back'. Unless Randy's finacial strategy has changed i can't see him coming, not that i would personally want him to.
  2. I wouldn't know, I'm one of the many Villa fans blocked for disagreeing with him. I must have slipped the net cause he tweeted something about the Bilbao game being a good semi and I replied the last time he saw a good semi was over cannock chase peering through a window.
  3. Can't believe I am so anxious about today that I was up at 7 and on VillaTalk by half past. Don't know whether to watch, listen or just simply avoid the game today to preserve my mental health!! Having just read the Collins ,Dunne and Gabby are all fit for today i am feeling slightly more optimistic and am going to put my neck on the line for 1-2 Villa
  4. Don’t know if this has been posted already today but Alan Brasil stated this morn that he does not think the relegator will be with us next season. To my understanding he has links with McLeish so we can only hope this is an informed opinion, not simply regurgitating what is reported elsewhere. This coupled with McLeish tone in today's press release, where to me he indicates that he too has a decision to make and the end of the season (i.e. he is as pissed off with us as we are with him?) all points to him going? I feel the clouds are lifting if, and a big if, we can secure our safety. COME ON VILLA!!!!!
  5. Conspiring against us? What, like Wigan and QPR having more bottle and battle than us? I just think we're shit JP. This is the worst Villa team I have even watched. I have been watching since 1976.[/quote) I agree we are not good, and others are hitting form and fighting for their lifes, unlike ourselves. Just everytime I think someone will do us a favour it goes the opposite way. We shouldn't rely on favours but as you say this is the worst villa a generation and favours we need. We just ain't getting them. Just feel desperate, helpless and very worried!
  6. Before I get shot down I must state that like most I blame no one but mcleish for the mess we are in. We shouldn't be here but we are! That said, I mean this no way to defend him, but does anyone feel things are conspiring against us? As I say we have only mcleish to blame, but I just have a horrible feeling that its not meant to be!
  7. Not sure about dean but Daniel sturridge is, they are related ( unsure what relation ) so there is a chance
  8. The very thought of going down sends shivers down my spine, however I could unfortunately see it happening. We have been placing our faith in the fact that there are 3 worst team than us, that's now down to 1. There appears to be an apathy down vp and I just don't think mcleish has it in him to stop the rot. It has extended past the team! I find myself avoiding anything to do with football (talksport, motd) because quite frankly it bloody depresses me! I was there at swindon the day we were promoted back to the old first div, it truely was a great day! My memories and fond but I don't want to do it all again! Mcleish hasn't got it I him to get us out of this hole, its too late to get rid of him, they won't get rid of him, so over to us! The young lads will thrive and buzz of us roaring them on but will freeze if faced with hostility. Let's get this team safe then show the clueless fool what we really feel, a lot more dis-satisfaction and dis-like than his childish vibes in interviews suggest!
  9. Feel sick to the stomach hearing the terrible news about stan. Really praying he makes a full and speedy recovery! Must give credit to the club for a genuine heart felt and sincere communication of the news on the official site, echoing the wishes and love communicated on this board, and I'm sure of everyone in the villa and football family You can do it stan! X
  10. You are insulted by he fact that, while acknowledging that the 'fans' booed, McLeish didn't observe that the boos were exclusively for him, if indeed they were? Tony Moreley said after the game that too many supporters are wishing for McLeish to fail. Perhaps he is right. I find his tone in his interviews, when journalists question his team or tactics, either ignorant or arrogant. For all his flaws he strikes me as anything but an arrogant character, so that leads me to believe he is ignorant to his tactical inadequacies and the resulting frustration of those who pay to witness it. So it does annoy me when 'i', and those around me, try to get our opinion heard (believe me the boos and expletives where I sit were directed at one person only) are made out to be not to be reflective of his performance as our manger I have not heard anyone say anything that makes me believe that they are 'wishing' him to fail, but if we look at things to date he is certainly doing so! As a fan i'd much rather him be a success opposed to a failure but the more i see the less convinced i am he will be!
  11. Just listened to the post match interview, the t**t makes my blood boil. He is completely, obliviously in denial about his own inadequacies and the fact that our performance/results are a reflection of his managership. When asked about booing he states that the same would happen at any club who experienced a similar result. WHY can't he acknowledge the boos are us fans venting our disapproval of him? The prat just seems to have his head deeply buried in the sand and the danger is if he does not look up it may be too late for us!! I find his dismissive attitude insulting. He needs to take a look at himself and maybe, just maybe, he may see what the majority down VP are forced to look at!!
  12. This. Its such a sad state of affairs when i kind of hope we loose in order for change. I remember having exactly the same emotions during GT mk II and it was as painful and confusing back then! I admire, and am fully behind, peoples efforts (e.g. banners and twitter campaigns) but these will only be effective accompanied by bad results. Wins now only paper over the cracks and if he does not drag us down now he sure will given time! It is a sad time for us all. My non supporting Villa mates really pity us right now, even those who support Wolves.
  13. listening to the national radio on my way home, although depressing, i found it perversely reassuring hear informed presenters verbalising what we have been saying for some time, we really are cack!! For too long the media have misinterpreted, in my opinion, the cause of the hostility shown towards the Mccleish appointment, over looking the fact he is not wanted because he is just no good!!! It has been too easy for many to dismiss our opinion as irrational because of where he come from, where in reality on a whole we are a reasonable bunch who could just see this coming from a mile off!! If we were pinching a gem from one of our bitterest rivals i would be smiling from ear to ear at what they lost and we had gained. McCleish on the other hand made me feel sick to the stomach! The football world are starting to see him for what he really is, its just a shame he is here to stay and we are the vehicle that will demonstrate his ineptitude !
  14. Unfortunately I think the fact that we finished last season relatively strongly, leaving us with a decent league position, will influence Randy's thinking this time round, and as a consequence mute our concerns. After all many were very vocal that GH should have gone around x-mas time but Randy stuck with him, and it kind of paid dividends. Yes it could be argued that it was GH forced omission from the helm that contributed to that finish, however I would imagine that in Randy's eyes his persistence paid off. In my opinion this time round we are more vulnerable to the unthinkable but i fear Randy experience last season will result in a similar stance.
  15. It's such a depressing time. For long periods last season I was worried about our premiership status and now this season even more so! I kind of brought into the long term vision that GH may possibly of achieved, McCleish on the other hand, hopeless No matter what the majority think, I am sure that McCrap will stay still the bitter end, despite what that end may bring. Lerner looked so bored and dejected when the camera's were on him yesterday but I think he will stubbornly stick with what he has chosen. To sack McCleish now will cost him more money, which he does not have, and more significantly, in my opinion, would be public admittance that he got it horribly wrong, again! If nothing else Randy strikes me as a proud man and I fear that his proud stubbornness will convince him to stick it out. I wish we could some way instigate change but i unfortunately I dont think we can. That feeling of helplessness kind of sums up my benign feeling towards the club I love!
  16. General i would like to add to the calls of some form of club communication from the club. I have not got time to find the quotes to support this post but my interpretation, from what big Eck said in the interview released last night, was that he knew the vision of the club, and the financial strategy, when he arrived and that he is now working within those boundaries. Now if the club thought it fit to give him an insight before deciding whether or not to join the club then do we as fans not deserve a similar insight before parting with our money? Yes we all love the club unconditionally but money is tight for most and purchasing tickets/s-tickets requires sacrifices in other areas of our lives, this should be an informed decision not one made in hope that we may soon 'see some action'. I will be the first to post my apologise and a 'you told us so' if we do see improvements on last season with our current squad (+1) but i am worried!!! Please don't take this as moan but rather a request for communication!!!
  17. General, I am so disillusioned and angry that words escape me! Therefore, can you please pass this message on to Randy and the board? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
  18. general, first time poster long time reader. I feel compelled to have my say amongst the anger/anguish that I read of others. I was a S ticket holder of 22 years but unfortunately due to me purchasing a property was required to give this up 2 seasons ago as a result of financial restrictions. However, my love for Villa has not subsided and I now find myself watching/listening to all games with as much passion as historically when in attendance at villa park.. I genuinely feel for Randy and the board over this particular search for a manager. You have heard who we want, and more loudly, who we DON'T want! Sometimes you can't do wrong for doing right but appointing AM will be a PR Nightmare! Who knows given time he may prove to be a shrewd choice but 'time' is the one thing that he won't be afforded! We are obliviously embarking on another period of transition where we try to find out (again) where we are, and where we can go ,so fans patience and good will is imperative if we are to get through this together! Does that mean Randy should give in to fans pressure, in my opinion 'NO'. However, it is not my money the club are relying on so I guess that has little significance but you need to be aware, and prepared, for the consequences if AM is employed! I heard a Villa fan on a talksport phone in this evening and the pure passion and disgust that was present in his voice took me a back and just made me more aware how precarious this appointment is! I hope for everyone's sake that the appointment you make turns out a success, after all is that not what we all want!? I just fear for Randy's future if the masses are proved right! I experienced years of my dads frustration and anger over Doug's reign at Villa before realising and embracing this myself. Although social media was available back then, and therefore this comparison may not be appropriate, but all this is bringing back unhappy memories! It took many years for Deadly's shadow to be lifted but the bad feeling has returned quicker than you could say Alec Mc..... UPTV PS: I will be back down Villa park as soon as money (and the Mrs :0)) permits!!!
