  1. If Villa would get 25m for Downing, probably could find at least as good replacement for about 15m, but gelling a new player into squad vs. more and less content player is hard to weight. If Downing would be happy to stay, I'd probably keep him since it always takes time to gel new player to the squad.
  2. I'll agree that Makoun has been awesome. Looks to be real bargain for measly 5 million euros.
  3. I agree that some fans have unfairly bad mouthed at Ireland, he came into the club which was in more and less chaos and without a manager. I don't think it's very easy to play when there's lots of expectations on him, and he is one of the most paid players in our club so there probably is lots of pressure on him to succeed. Even if they are paid lot of money, it doesn't make them superhuman or grant them sudden willpower and doesn't make them immune to abuse (if stories from the Man City are true) so he probably already came with the 'luggage'.
  4. I was hoping that they would keep him for the spring too, and give him some games but I really do hope that the loan helps him and he would be a great player for us next season.
  5. He has potential to be a "matchwinner", and if he plays really well for them, they might get more points than they would get otherwise.
  6. I don't see the point of loaning him to Newcastle, which is pretty much one of our main rivals this season, if he plays really well to them, it's not good for us. I still think Houllier should give him a chance to show what he can do.
  7. I would keep dirty bastard like Barton out of our squad.
  8. More crap from Mirrorfootball, http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Former-Liverpool-boss-Rafa-Benitez-has-Aston-Villa-post-in-his-sights-after-admitting-he-wants-a-return-to-the-Premier-League-article679729.html. Hahaha, Rafa as manager of Villa, that's hilarious.
  9. I say too 'back him'. I think he came to Villa in very difficult time, and we had loads of injuries, if ManU would've had 8-10 injuries at the same time as Villa did, they would've also been in shitload of trouble. I think that nowdays crowds and the club owners are too impatient with the managers. I got lot of more respect toward Randy Lerner not to panic and sack him when Villa was having lot of troubles, teams like Newcastle and Blackburn weren't even playing badly at all, and their owners fired the managers out of the blue - thank god we have Randy Lerner.
  10. I do really feel "And so it begins..." for our rise in the league table.
  11. They are trying to kill me with a heartattack, fook.
  12. if our players drop any deeper, they'll gonna be standing on goal-line.
  13. Maybe they should play Cuellar as CB when Walker gets back fit.
  14. Villa defence scares me...living in the danger zone.
  15. Unless Villa can get a very good creative attacking midfielder in this transer window, then sell or loan him out. But if we can't get anyone, then keep him and give another shot for him with Bent in front, if he doesn't pick up his playing -> sell him during summer. Beside LB, Villa -really- needs a creative playmaker who can pass the ball.
