If our current squad's struggles are partly down to a lack of physicality and 'bite', then they will get mauled in the championship. So many of our first team squad will struggle to cope with the more physical nature following the drop down, and our lack of a real leader will become even more evident. Gary Gardner had a cracking season for Brighton/Forest last year though, so I'd give him some game time if he ever gets fit...

Norwich are truly awful, yet have beaten us with little fuss. This is the worst Villa team of all time, surely?!?

Ayew has the potential to be a real quality footballer, so unfortunately there is no chance he is going to be playing Championship football next season. Most Prem teams would benefit from having him in their squad

Richards has never been a centre back, and he's just not developing any positional awareness to show that he will become a decent centre back. Get Okore and Lescott in the middle, Richards at right back.

Why does Guzan keep getting beat by shots that are more or less aimed straight at him?!

If Okore is fit I'd be happier to see Clark go out there than keep playing Richardson, but we really don't have any great options do we?

For me the only issue with Richardson, and Hutton as well to an extent, is the amount of times that he has been caught out of position which has lead to a dangerous attack and/or goal. The guy can obviously pass and cross a ball, but I think his days of effectively bombing up and down the line are behind him. Having said that, perhaps the positioning problems are down to the fitness issues that Garde has identified. If not, he just needs an able deputy to sub on later in the game so that we aren't left with huge spaces down the flank...

Looks very promising. To have a pretty decent game, against an incredibly strong team, having had very few minutes on the pitch this season, says a lot about him. Really hope he's given a chance to shine - miles better than Westwood etc.

Just highlights how ashamed Sherwood should be with his performances. Those players have always had clear ability, yet were consistently sent out with disorganised tactics and were clearly not being coached properly.

...and he scored again today. They're both on the bench though and I still think at least one of them will come through. Hopefully. Hopefully - I think Ayew has shown glimpses, but sometimes players take a long time to settle or don't settle at all. His ineffective cameo last week won't have done his confidence any good either. Needs to be given a run to try and get into his stride. His off the ball movement is better than our other strikers, so Gil and Grealish would work well with him...

We look like we could play all day long and still not get a sniff of a goal. Totally limp attack.

Sorry to have to say it but I can't see any reason to keep Gabby in the team now. He only seems to be on the pitch to utilise his pace but his decision making and positioning are very poor - he seems to be wasting a space in the team at the moment. He just isn't offering enough.
