Danwichmann
Does anyone have much experience of booking flights through third parties such as skyscanner, travel trolley, last minute etc? Are they generally ok? What about making changes? I'm looking for flights to Kathmandu in October and there are some good prices for air India flights on skyscanner. I'd rather book direct with the airline but when I search on their site it comes up as no flights available.
tonyh29
I use them all the time , never had any problems Usually you get the airlines 6 digit code on the third party booking and you can web check in etc However You don't always get the ability to change the flight though so if that is important you may need to go direct ( my recent flight mishap meant I had to change a flight booking .. Turkish airlines wouldn't let me do it online , the company I booked with said I had to speak to the airline ... Long story short it got messy ) Tbh that's the only time I've ever had to try and change a flight so in don't know if that's the exception or the norm. For Kathmandu check out Qatar airlines I got a fantastic deal off them last year ... Flew KTM to LHR via Doha one way for around £450 in business class Edited July 25, 2014 by tonyh29
tonyh29
Are you trying to fly return from LHR with air India as I just tried their web site and got £659 for a return price of LHR to Kathmandu via Delhi ?
Danwichmann
Was looking to fly from BHX via Delhi, although could do Heathrow if the deals are much better. I'll have a lòok at Qatar as well. Thanks.

You don't book flights through Skyscanner... they are merely a flight aggregator (along with Momondo, Kayak, etc). They compare all the airlines and major agencies and direct you to their sites to book. For the bulk of long haul flights i've done i've always had best results using Kayak who directed me to an agency to book (ebookers and expedia are two I have booked with the most). Only once I think the airline direct was cheaper (Cathay Pacific for Hong Kong) It may also be worth calling The Flight Centre, Trailfinders etc as they are sometimes able to offer better deals on the phone for long haul
