Stevo985 Posted April 11, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2014 Anyone use Google Music? I've been having a (minor) problem for a while now on my Nexus 5, more an irritant than a problem, and hoping someone might have had it too and can fix it. I've searched the net and can't find a solution. Basically, I keep getting a notification that says "keeping requested music - paused" But I'm not trying to "keep" any music. when I click the notification the download queue is empty. I can't see anything that's trying to download, and even if it was, surely it would download when I'm on WiFi automatically? It's more irritating than anything. Been happening for about 2 months now, probably once a day. I know I could probably do a factory reset but wondered if there was an easier solution before I do that. limpid Posted April 11, 2014 Administrator Share Posted April 11, 2014 Do you mean Google Play Music? If so then I use it every day and haven't seen a message like that. Have you tried clearing out the app data from the settings menu?
Stevo985 Posted April 11, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2014 Yes I mean Google Play Music... I'll try that, thanks. Will that delete the music I've kept on my device already?

I think it will delete anything which Play Music has downloaded, yes. It shouldn't delete anything you've manually copied.
darrenm
Same as limpid, I use it *constantly* and don't see that. On a Nexus 5, too. I'd also go with clearing app data. You'll have to allow it to re-download anything you want locally cached of course. I personally just set the thumbs up auto-playlist to always on device, then thumbs up anything I want offline.
Stevo985 Posted April 11, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2014 Yeah in use it constantly too. Just been quietly ignoring that error for a while but its quite irritating. Will try deleting app data and see what happens

Davkaus
It still bugs me that you can't thumbs up from the system tray or from the lock screen. I've subscribed to All Access since it started, it's a fantastic service, but I can't believe how terrible the widgets are - no customisation at all, most free music apps have better widgets. Yeah me too. I'd suggest it in the groups. But, it bugs me and I haven't yet so I can't complain either
Stevo985 Posted April 11, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2014 I think I saw an article the other day where Google were essentially saying Play Music wasn't good enough and were planning big improvements
darrenm
The Sonos deal means they're obviously serious about it. http://www.theverge.com/2014/4/10/5600562/google-play-music-adds-sonos-support
Stevo985 Posted April 13, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted April 13, 2014 Haven't had the error for the past 3 days so I'm tempted to say deleting app data worked. Ta!
