Kindle Fire

for dodgyknees:

It's a 7" android tablet not yet launched in the UK. There are people selling them in the UK for £140. Amazon haven't given a launch date for the UK yet, presumably they are still negotiating with rights holders for content, like Google Music.

I would like to ask a (probably) stupid question.

I want to get the new Fire HD. I'll be ordering it from the US as it's only $199 and some friends are going there in two weeks.

I'll be using outside the US. Will I have full usage of all the bits and bobs on it? I mean, can I download books onto it from Turkey, from the US and UK amazon sites?

I really wouldn't get a Kindle Fire. The Nexus 7 is the same price without any questionable import tax evasion and it can do everything a Kindle Fire can and then some.

Agreed. I think the only way a Kindle Fire is as attractive a buy as the Nexus 7 is if you live in America and have Amazon Prime. It's designed to serve up media which isnt available outside of the States.
