alreadyexists Posted May 23, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted May 23, 2023 Hi all, I’m doing the NC500 in August, has anyone done it? Anyone got any tips, things not to miss, advice? We’re starting at Inverness (obv) and doing it anti-clockwise, so up to JohnO’groats, West then south and back round to ‘ness. Thanks!
choffer Posted May 23, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted May 23, 2023 At the risk of stating the obvious, plan to eat a lot of midges, unless you take a lot of mitigation. Get a hat with a net. It’ll be heaving in August so prepare yourself to be waiting in traffic a lot. If you’re ok with all that, you’ll have an awesome time. So many stunning places and a plethora of distilleries along the way. Think my favourite is Dunnett Bay. Their Rock Rose gin has long been a favourite in our house. 1
alreadyexists Posted August 2, 2023 Author VT Supporter Share Posted August 2, 2023 I’m on the NC500 now, and I haven’t seen one midge… or any traffic, there’s literally no one here. Scotland is desolate. Thurso is a total dive… makes small heath look like civilisation 1
StefanAVFC
I've done it twice, loved Ullapool and the extreme north and Rock Rose! Edited August 4, 2023 by StefanAVFC
