Black players from AC Milan's under-10 team allegedly suffered racist abuse at a tournament in Italy on Sunday, say the club.

The incidents were said to have happened during the 4-0 win over Paris St-Germain which saw them reach the Universal Cup semi-finals.

"There was alleged incidents of racism from certain 'people' in the stands towards Milan's black players," said a statement on the club website.

Milan beat Benfica to reach the final.

The Milan statement continued: "We do not wish to magnify the issue, but truly hope that these reports aren't true or that it was simply a sporadic incident.

"If they were to be confirmed, then it would be simply unacceptable."

Chelsea, Ajax, Inter Milan, Roma and Juventus are among the other teams taking part in the tournament in northern Tuscany.

The organisers have been contacted by BBC Sport, but have yet to respond. They have posted an anti-racism video message on their Facebook page since the alleged incidents took place.

What a sad thing to have to read.

I really hate racism. I was walking through merry hill the other day with my indian OH and we walked past this old pensioner couple who looked at me then her and the old lady shook her head.

I can only wish people who hold these views - to quote the late spike milligan - an early death. Or leprosy.

Turns out this wasn't true at all. Apparently someone posted on twitter that is was racial abuse then that was picked up as a fact when in reality, the parents were angry because 3 of the "10" year olds were nearly a foot taller than the PSG players.

Edit: Here is the proof

This is all getting slightly OT but I used work in an off licence with an older woman who was as cheerfully racist as they come. She once told an Asian couple (with young kids) that we didn't stock any property magazines (we did) and that at any rate, they wouldn't want to move to Solihull as they'd be much better off in Sparkhill "with all the rest of you."

I brought it up with her once and her defence was that it wasn't seen as a big deal when she was growing up, it was a generational thing, it wasn't really meant to cause offence. I pointed out that people my age think nothing of calling each other word removed and would it be ok if I called her one, seeing as that was a generational thing too. She didn't talk to me for a week.

We had a black guy who did the morning deliveries and I always made him a cuppa with her mug and didn't wash it before making her one. Not really sure where I'm going with this to be honest. Just reminiscing.
