  1. Well on the basis that whoever bats at 3 will more than likely be facing a very new ball, I think I would prefer to see Root bat at 3. He has shown a willingness to open so coming in (no doubt) after less than 2 overs won't be a problem for him. Bell has struggled at 3 before and we should think hard before unsettling our classiest batsman.

  2. From a Welsh perspective I sincerely hope that the clubs fall into line and do what the WRU tells them! The club administrators have already done their very best to destroy the concept of regional rugby, continue to allow the drain of international players from the country and have produced a series of dross performances in Europe for over 10 years. Yet still they are under some delusion that it's the WRU that needs to change! The Welsh regions only manage to stay afloat due to the money they sponge from the union and yet still have the temerity to throw their weight around like they own the place. :rant:

  3. My knowledge of popular culture is seriously lacking. I was expecting this thread to be about a new range of condiments; Gypie Mayo, Pikey Ketchup and Scumbag mustard

  4. Interesting that you immediately go on to the offensive yourself with some insult about "left winged" etc.

    Oh God! Don't tell me that left wing is an offensive term now!!! Do I have to start referring to it as 'the LW words'?

  5. I think that tweet is a little misleading! Whilst it may be true that Crosby uses an offshore company the link quite clearly shows that it is a UK tax registered company based in London that made the donation to the Tory party. Besides i'm not sure that Malta qualifies as a mysterious tax haven...it's a fully paid up member of the EU.

  6. This is not the kind of press I want to see.

    I'd be interested to hear what kind of press you would like to see? A press where the Prime Minister judges and deems what is acceptable for publication or not? You believe in government censorship? Surely in the Millliband case the press has worked perfectly. The Mail printed an opinion and the response to that opinion, other newspapers have all pitched in with their take on the story, leaving individuals with a wide variety of sources and views to formulate an idea for themself. A free press did its job, no need to get the witch hunt torches lit!

  7. I'm not exactly sure I see what all the hoo ha about this Daily Mail article is? Are people upset with the content of the article or the fact that attacking a politician's parents or family is seen as somehow morally repugnant? Of course with us all being such bastions of moral fortitude, I have no doubt that within the pages of this thread you would not find any attacks on the parents or background a politician. Like Gideon's, or Dave's, or Dave's Wife, or... oh wait!

    I'm maybe over simplifying but.... Kinetic Energy lost = Work done = Force x distance

    so  0.5 x m x v2 = F x d      re-jig that and you to isolate m and you should have your answer!?! :unsure:

    It does give the answer, it's a shorter way of getting the answer I got :)

    The numbers in the question seem to be very off for the situation, so perhaps 8.96-18g is correct?

    Well my answer is low but not that low. I make it to be about 1.5 grams working on the basis that;

    F = 5530 N

    d = 0.042 m

    v ~ 556 m/s

    I think the difference comes from the way of calculating the velocity. 2000kph is 2000000 metres per hour so then divide that by 3600 (the number of seconds in an hour) to get m/s.

  10.

    Goverments recieve more in taxes from Fossil fuels and so on than any renewable or Green industry. Way way more.

    I think that was part of my point! Since the introduction of the climate change agenda has that revenue for the government increased or decreased?

  11.

    I think global warming is caused by the giant fireball in the sky getting warmer and being in a period of activity. The sun goes through periods of solar activity which it has been doing.

    It really is that simple. The fact that a large number of these global warming scientists and politicians are making billions on so called green initiatives is no coincidence. Al Gore being one of the main money makers.

    End of discussion

    Show me one "global warming scientist" (whatever that means) who is making millions, let alone billions.

    If one scientist could prove what you are saying is true, their reward is there for the taking. To disprove the weight of evidence would be akin to the discovery of DNA. Fame and fortune awaits.

    Do you not understand the scientific method at all or are you just ignorant of it?

    Similarly show me a scientist who can prove that the earth has had a stable environment or temperature for any substantial period of time and I'll be impressed.

    We should remember that the so called independent scientific community receives its funding predominantly through government agencies (if they recieve funding from private companies we dismiss them has having a predetermined agenda). These are the same governments that have turned global warming into a multi-billion pound industry. They are the ones benefiting, not the individual scientists. If you take the UK alone, climate change has been used as an excuse to raise or introduce a multitude of taxes and levies.

  12. We are going to seriously struggle without Okore for most of the season. Basically I can't see us finishing any higher than 15th again with the defense we now have to rely on.

    Just for the sake of clarity because I can't be sure....are you suggesting that we are going to seriously struggle without Okore for most of the season because basically you can't see us finishing any higher than 15th again with the defense we now have to rely on? ;)

  13. I think they also need to look at fielding teams slowing the over rate, something that England are probably as guilty of as anyone at times. Docking match fees simply doesnt work. Last night Australia bowled 11 overs in the last hour of play and were only getting slower. They should look at ways of forcing teams to bowl at least 15 overs every hour throughout the day with penalty runs applied for failing to so.
