I'm gonna be really controversial now, I've had a few and I've spent the afternoon\evening with dingles... but I don't think we were that bad, we dominated possession just couldn't score. I'm not worried

I would tend to respectfully disagree. Forest after scoring early on in each half has happy to let us have the ball and defended in a very disciplined way.

We had lots of the ball but had no idea what to do with it and resorted to hopelessly crossing it in the box, where diaby, Watkins and bailey had little to no chance to get much joy.

Our forward line was mostly invisible and our midfielders were unable to find a way through. We didn't seem to have a plan or the personell to play against a low block today.

  2. In the meantime, if the kits are indeed affecting players performing, would it be unreasonable to wear away/third kits until the issue is fixed - even if we play at home, assuming it doesn't mean colours clash with the opposition, which may be the case against Brighton for example? Hell, they could even wear goalkeeper kits 🤣.

Yes it would look somewhat amateurish, but then again, so do our home kits. And if it does breach some contract which has us wear a given kit for an X amount of games, the issue the home kits cause should (I'd like to hope) be a valid enough reason for us not to fulfill that clause. Football can be a game of margins and I would hate us to be penalised for something as trivial as a poorly made kit.

Would very very happily cash in in Jan for the FFP benefits. Surely we could at least get £10m for him.

I doubt it, he's collecting massive wages and is playing poorly. He won't want to go to earn less money, and I can't see teams wanting to pay him what he asks for, let alone a buying price on top of that.

    Unless it's Saudi, maybe...

We were a shambles at Newcastle,  Liverpool and Warsaw. Maybe the keeper isn't the issue?

As if there is always ever one issue?

Olsen is one of the main issues whenever he plays. There were many glaring issues tonight and Olsen probably wasn't event one of the top 3. Doesn't change the fact that he cost us a goal in a game we lost by a one goal margin.

We conceded 3 to Legia Warsaw with Emi in goal but sure let's all bash Olsen for this one.

Goals conceded really aren't a great metric to evaluate a keeper's performance. While Emi wasn't spectacular against Warsaw, he wasn't directly at fault for any of their goals.

Olsen is directly at fault for at least one goal more often than not, usually because he just can't help himself and will pass it straight to the opposition.

Nearly did an Enckelman against Hibs too.

In any team playing it out from the back he is an absolute liability, and it's not like he has other attributes he excels at to somehow make up for it.

I know you can’t have a 25 man squad who are all excellent, but there is a significant drop in quality whenever we rotate, to the point with which Emery’s tactics can’t be implemented.

We’re probably 5-6 players away from consistently challenging for a CL place, at best.

I don't think it's so much a quality issue rather than an attitude issue. Even the regular starters have been shocking.

Even a kamara not at his best is bettee than nakamba, or cginn when played there.

Starting season slowly but w elal know his quality

To be fair McGinn played in the double pivot last season when Kamara was injured and was very good

  8. He starts every season poorly though, doesn't he?

Even in his first season, prior to January, he scored a Hattrick again Liverpool, a brace against arsenal and a penalty against Southampton.

One way to look at is 6 goals, which is decent. Another way to look at it is only 2 games he's scored from open play. The following seasons he also picked up only 3-4 goals (with all the caveats of managerial changes and the team being overall poor).

I hope this isn't a trend because we can't wait for 2024 for him to start scoring regularly.

It’s such a shame the home kit is crap… I honestly can’t remember one I’ve liked less. I mean, claret and blue… how can you get it wrong? It’s the best colour combination ever, and yet the home kit is awful.

The other two aren’t great, but marginally better. The away is probably the best out of the 3.

To be fair, it's the sponsor that kills it. Otherwise it would be blow average, but not quite the worst

  10. Still got 2 assists and won a penalty in 3 league games. We play with a fluid attacking system, As long as the goals are coming, I'm not concerned with where they're coming from. He's playing well and contributing in attacking output. The goals will come.

  11. I know the opposition was what it was, but you could feel his presence whenever the ball got near to put box and I found it very reassuring. Long may it continue because in many aspects he feels like the most natural Mings replacement.

  12. While I am fine with us playing a high line, there are moments in games where we should be willing and able to play with a lower block. At the end of the game on Saturday we were just asking for humiliation by persisting with it.

Another example which comes to mind was Emery's second game in charge, against Man U in the league cup. We were leading midway through the second half, they had already missed a few very good chances by exposing our high line, we persisted with it and lost 4-2.

Ideally, we should be able to read the situation and deduce whether we are more likely to benefit or to pay the price for any given chosen tactical approach.

I really, really want to see him and Aaron playing together - it's a fantastic story. Have we had any brothers play for the club at the same time before? Closest I can think of is the Moores but I'm 99% sure they never appeared together for the first team.

I think the Chukuwemekas played a few minutes together in a cup game 😂

  14. Dougie Dougie Dougie Dougie Dougie Douglas Luiz

He takes the piss, he takes the piss.

I'm sure somebody will come up with something much better, but I'm not quite sober so I am reasonably satisfied with this

I don't mean to knock him as a player, I like him, he's doing a good job and I don't worry about him in the lineup, I'd just rather Kamara was there.

I was merely talking about my feelings on him as a whole since signing him in the summer. My opinion is that he was an expensive backup that we didn't really need, even though he's come in a few times I'd rather have seen an academy player given these chances.

I understand the opposite view though that he's not expensive and the academy haven't produced anyone good enough yet who could have done the job Dendonker is doing. I guess it's all opinions.

I would argue that we have needed him as he played a role in important wins against Brentford, United, Newcastle and now Fulham. Given how short out squad is, not having him may have forced us to shift the lineup and there is no guarantee we would have won the matches. He was by no means a protagonist in most of these games, but a backup CDM rarely is
