  1. i may be alone in this, but I keep on trying to justify this deal and I just can’t do it. I don’t doubt he’ll score goals for us in the short term, but I can’t help but think we were fine with wesley as back up to watkins who has earned that starting role up front. the money could have been invested better in other positions and on someone with more resale value.

unless we play 4-4-2 which I highly doubt will happen, the result seems to be a square peg in a round hole somewhere. should’ve signed someone to play in jack’s position who can also provide cover up front in case of injury.

I love the player, but that still doesn’t make it a logical signing.

put it this way…would you catch leicester signing a 29 year old for 30 million with one year left on his deal who has suffered niggling injuries throughout his career?

We have Bailey and El Ghazi can play left. I don't understand who this dedicated left winger we need is unless you mean Keir Starmer

if we're playing with inside forwards, bailey will be on the right. el ghazi isn't good enough to start every week. i just think having someone like cantwell (or someone like that) would really complete the rebuild up front.

We don't play dedicated left wingers. We play inside forwards. Grealish wasn't a dedicated left winger

when i say left winger i mean position-wise. i know their roles are inside forwards. i just don't think watkins has the range of passing or creativity i want in that position.

  4. Ings is not someone you play behind the striker. He's a goalscorer, it's what he's best at. Watkins has at least got experience out on the left so I think that's where he'll play now for the most part.

I still can't help but think we're sorely missing a dedicated left winger.

  5. i'm a bit gutted about the suggestion that there seemingly won't be a new left winger coming in, because we're crying out for one now. maybe the plan is to play Bailey there.

impressed by the stream itself though, don't think i've ever seen a club's CEO livestream an explanation for selling a player before. fair play.

  6. while i do not doubt that he grew up a villa fan, one moment did give me pause a few months ago in an interview he did. i can't remember who it was with or which broadcaster, but he was basically doing a villa quiz. when asked the question "in which year were aston villa founded?" he didn't know. i'm sure if you asked any of us, we'd have known the answer...

  7. I’ve been banging the drum for Matheus Cunha for a while now. LW/CAM/ST from Hertha. Available for around £25m. Start him left wing and have him as an option should Watkins pick up an injury up front. The fit is ideal and I’m surprised we haven’t been linked with him yet.

The ‘do you wanna join a club that was formed 10 years ago’ comment was funny. Wasn’t these bums saved from relegation cause VAR didn’t work the other season

i didn't that comment. if i was a city fan overhearing that i would be absolutely fuming.

if it was a team like leipzig than yeah fair, but ive known a few city fans over the years and they're a loyal bunch.

If winks was Spanish’s I think some would have a better appreciation of his talents. He is a bit too similar to what we have IMO can wouldn’t be against signing him for the right price…

winks actually did qualify to play for spain through his grandparents
