I can see our midfield being
Young - NRC - Ireland - Petrov - Downing
against Spurs and Chelsea, with Albrighton dropping to bench.
That's the midfield I'd play all the time with Albrighton used as an impact sub. Easy to push Young up front and go 4-4-2 with that formation if required too. Also spurs have no fit defenders and a champions league game midweek so it might be a great chance to get a win against them.
-
Friedel 7
L Young 7
Cuellar 9* MOTM
Collins 7
Warnock 5 - Lucky not to be sent off, dives in far too much
Albrighton 7
Reo-Coker 6
Petrov 6
Downing 6
A Young 8
Heskey 7
Agbonlahor 3
Sidwell 2

I believe the Nike deal is until 2012.
I know, so let's call it next year plus 3 months
Next year plus 9 months, unless we plan on changing kit maker in January...

Nike.

Being Wolfsburg's first choice doesn't really mean a lot -
...
and left Liverpool as somewhat of a laughable figure.
Another great post from Chindie, not a lot to add apart from the fact the houllier will in all likeihood have the team play in a very boring style.
-
Given the injuries Bolton have I expect a decent home win.

Utterly bizarre bench from us
Didn't really matter as KMac doesn't know how to use it anyway.
-
Houllier said: "Aston Villa is not a club on the same level as Liverpool, let's be objective and honest.
"It's a club that according to me has belonged between seventh and 12th place in the Premier League.

Anyone play any of the DLC's yet? Lair of the Shadow Broker's getting good reveiws. I haven't bought them cos I have being playing Starcraft II and TF2 (now that steam finally stopped f***ing up and let me play).

Whatever anyone thinks of him, he deserves respect from the fans of this club.
Once he's appointed then I'm sure he get that and he'll be judged on what he does with us not on his past record. Until then some fans (like me) will look at his previous record an worry that he's not going to do a good job with us.

I would love if Hamann was involved.
Me too. It might be the one saving grace of this catastrophic affair.
Thats a bit OTT
Yes it is. You don't get enough hyperbole on the internet these days .
-
At least they credited the source.

Davies was 8mil
Point of order:
Wasn't Davies a £2m loan for his first season and then signed for £8m the following summer. £2m + £8m = £10m.
-
Disaster.
-
I would actually be delighted now if KMac was given the job full time. Hopefully Houllier will decline the offer.
-
if we get him, we will have hired above ourselves IMO.
if we get him, we would not have hired above ourselves IMO. Given his C.V. I can't imagine him being a contender for any club above our level. We're about as good as he could do. I have been talking to the French guy in work who follows french football and he's been saying Houillier is rubbish.

Harewood, Shorey, Beye, Downing, Sidwell, Davies,NRC have all been worse signings (so far) given their relative performances/transfer fees/wages/re-sale value.

I've experimented with some Lay betting for this first time, got in when people were sticking silly money on Bob Bradley a while back, shame it's taken so long for us to announce though.
I lay'ed bradley as well a while ago. Seemed like a no brainer TBH, he was just whoring himself out for the job. There was never any justification for his short price.

Who wouldn't you gun down Villa89?
I dunno, I look at the list of candidates and I feel like Rambo with a Minigun. Anyone decent is probably unattainable at the moment, mainly due to the exceptionally bad timing of MON's walkout
-
I think it's nailed on that IF gEd H comes here, it would be as DOF with Big Mac acting as head coach.
An interesting new approach. Could be good.
Are people not always saying that the director of football approach doesn't work? Can anyone name a club in england where it has worked successfully? If we go down the DOF route we are headed down a bad road IMO.

never out of Champions League
Warning Pedant alert
Point of order: In the 2002-2003 Liverpool finished in the fifth place in the Premiership, failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.
-
So he did nothing good at Liverpool?
Where did I say that?
Yes he won a cup treble but given the money he spent/wasted he under achieved at liverpool IMO. Plus the style of football liverpool played was an assault on the eyes. After MON it would be nice to have a manager that actually played some football that was reasonably decent to watch.
From Wiki - Liverpool under houiller LINK
First season
OUT's Paul Ince, David James, Jason McAteer, Rob Jones, Tony Warner , Steve Harkness and Steve McManaman
IN's: Sami Hyypiä, Dietmar Hamann, Stéphane Henchoz, Vladimír Šmicer, Sander Westerveld, Titi Camara, Eric Meijer and Djimi Traoré
Second season.
OUTS:David Thompson, Phil Babb, Dominic Matteo, Steve Staunton, Brad Friedel and Stig Inge Bjørnebye
IN's: Markus Babbel, Nicky Barmby, Pegguy Arphexad, Grégory Vignal, Emile Heskey, Gary McAllister, Igor Bišćan and Christian Ziege.
A lack of success in the following seasons when Liverpool struggled to qualify for the Champions League despite substantial investment in players, with what was perceived as negative one-dimensional tactics and unattractive football, a poor youth policy, his constant mention of "turning corners" and a lack of support from fans led to Houllier's departure from Liverpool on 24 May 2004.
